13:53 General rule of travelling: Every time you stop somewhere use the facilities, and in rural and wilderness areas (national parks, etc) NEVER pass up a toilet.

wipe your camera off if it was sprayed with mist from geysers. The spray contents, silica and calcium carbonate, will cause issues and difficult to remove when dried.

Lol! These distances are a joke. Grizzly can ran fast. 100 yards will be covered in 5 seconds and then you will be feeding the bears. Every tourist under estimates how fast those animals really can move. Maybe you should do a video on over crowding in the western states. No camping places. I watched tourist camping on the side of the highway so many times this year. Wyoming is getting loved to death.
@@wyomingadventures You should probably alert the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services as well as the state of Wyoming’s since they continue to recommend those distances.
Having been to Yellowstone, it’s amazing!! Stargazing at night is a glorious sight in and of itself. The Montana entrance has a gas station and a saloon too.
don't forget: alcohol + high elevation= extra potent
I think stopping by every visitor center is a MUST when visiting a National Park. Especially your very first time. Pick up your map. Ask the Rangers for the most recent park updates. Whether it be road/trail closures, recent bear spottings, or weather forecast. Also the visitor centers sometimes have awesome displays like antique/historic items, fossils, etc.
Yellowstone is so gorgeous! But those animals definitely come up close and personal. One time my Mom went to the bathroom and when she came out a giant bull bison sat down outside the bathroom. Right where the stall my Mom was in. Because of this and many other funny memories I would definitely want to go back!

We visited in June 2020. It snowed our first day in Jackson Hole. Day 3 we went horseback riding in t-shirts and sun hats because it warmed up so much. Be prepared for every type weather when you go there. Bring layers, rain coat, waterproof shoes, hats and gloves. Awesome advice.

Glacier National Park is also a good place to go to. (Just make sure the vacation is extra long, but it's worth it. :) )

Yellowstone is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I really hope to come back some day!
One other don't I have: don't drive in the dark, or at least try to avoid it. It gets really dark inside the park, with winding roads along side ravines and large, dark animals possibly popping up right in front of you, it can get a little scary.
When planning my first visit to Yellowstone I was talking to a ranger on the phone with some questions. I was going to be staying at The Old Faithful Inn and that's exactly what she told me. To avoid driving at night.

As far as fishing goes, spoon fishing can be fantastic, especially on larger rivers and lakes, such as Lake Trout on Shoshone Lake.
Don't forget to carry bear spray and be familiar with how to use it when hiking trails. Also get information from the visitor's center on what to do to avoid a bear attack so you don't have to use the bear spray unless absolutely necessary.
I live about 6 hours from Yellowstone. Our family is going for our nearly annual visit next Friday. Great list Wolter’s World! Well done as always sir!
We’ve been five times since moving to the area. We’ve stayed at Old Faithful Inn, Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, and we have camped in the park. I haven’t stayed outside the park and driven in. I can say that staying in the park lodges and camping are both awesome!

Yeah! Yellowstone national park is one of our favorite places in the world to go backpacking. The best way to leave all of the people behind and really have some fun!
“Don’t sleep in” is probably the best advice for any National Park. A mistake we made with Yellowstone was thinking we could just tack the Tetons on as we drove thru to Jackson. Regret not having the time to fully enjoy them!
Would love to go but hate crowds. Is it less busy after Labor day?

To late i already did it. 😆 i went back in may. Saw alot of bison and deer. Also went back into Jackson wy and ate some elk and bison steak at the Gun barrel.
Pro-tip: If you don't have children, don't pick the prime summer months. It's already far too crowded. Wait till September, or October, do research about when. Early fall is usually the best time for animal viewing. And avoid the crowds.
I use that tip when traveling anywhere.
Exactly! I've been to Yellowstone twice, in mid May and mid September. It wasn't crowded either time. That was before COVID I think more people discovered our parks and the great outdoors during COVID and now many of our parks are dealing with more crowds.

Great advice! Many people take a look at Old Faithful and get back in their car. There are great board walks "behind" Old Faithful: Grand Geyser, Beehive, Grotto, Castle, and Riverside Geysers. I could easily spend a whole day there. The best time to visit Old Faithful is the morning and evening. The lighting is awesome. Great video and spot on. The places in the park with wireless signal are Old Faithful, Grant, and Canyon. Verizon works best.

How far in advance should I make dinner reservations in Jackson if I visit in early June 2022?

Remember that part of why food and gas are so expensive is because it all has to be transported in an extra 2 hours 🤷♀️ also, the main reason you sunburn so quickly is because, with the altitude, you literally are closer to the sun, with less atmosphere between you and it 😅
An additional reason to not drive over the speed limit is that some areas of the roads around Yellowstone is that there are cliffs nearby off sides of a road to suddenly have a 300 - 500+ ft drop off straight down, beside the chance of a random moose, bear, car, person to be in the middle of the road not moving. Also as mentioned for the mention on the cell service,.. the last time i was there, I had ZERO cell service while inside Yellowstone, several years back.
Not only that but the roads tend to sluff off every year especially going up dead Indian pass!😨
If a person wants to avoid large crowds, when is the best season to go or when is off season
I've been twice, once in mid May and once in mid September. I had no problem with crowds either time. It was SO NICE! Avoid the summer. I've heard it's very busy and crowded then.
In park the rooms open up a year in advance. The people in the cabin next to us reserved their next year cabin the day they checked out.

Why are JAC flights so costly? I'm only going if I use ff miles! Also, how to visit as a person who doesn't drive?
We have owned a cabin just across the border in Idaho and occasionally drive into the park for dinner at Old Faithful or a dip in our secret swimming hole on the Firehole River. Nothing is as irritating as tourists stopping in the middle of the road and holding up traffic for hours. Please be considerate people - some of us do not want to spend an hour looking at your elk or Buffalo. PULL OFF THE ROAD! PLEASE! Same thing if you are pulling a trailer, or for some reason want to drive 20 MPH. PLEASE PULL OVER FREQUENTLY! I cannot stress this enough!

Is it realistic to stay in one hotel (close) outside of the park for three days and be able to see most of the park?

I did it. I stayed in Gardiner, Montana at the north entrance. I did a lot of driving but it was not an issue as it's all a beautiful drive and you never know what you'll see from one moment to the next. It worked for me. Some people do split their visit and stay at different different areas of the park throughout their stay.

Warning Wyoming is over crowded with tourists. It's very dry here. No camp fires. No camping spots either.
Don’t go between Labor Day and Memorial Day because parts may be close.

Yellowstone is getting so crowded I’m wondering when they’re going to restrict the number of cars that can enter and use some type of a shuttle service similar to Denali. It would lessen the congestion and given that there would be park employee drivers they could keep people from doing stupid crap like walking up to bison. It would also lessen the impact on the park itself.
I'm not sure if that will happen because the eco system is so fragile, just putting a pole in the ground could alter things dramatically due to such abuse of the land in the past, it's a very sensitive area and a worldwide concern. I'm not a foofoo type person but we must be careful about this area.
@@heidimarchant5438 i’m not sure you’re understanding what I’m saying. My suggestion is to reduce the amount of cars in the park in favor of shuttle buses that could be very eco-friendly buses that will greatly lessen the impact on the park and the environment. I’m not sure I understand your comment about sticking a pole in the ground. Anything that would lessen the number of vehicles in the park and thereby decreasing the impact of emissions would seem to be a bonus.
@@pjschmid2251 I understand your statement but maybe I'm thinking more advanced than your suggestion. If we're thinking above ground trams like at Disney world and such then that wouldn't work (hence the pole comment) if your thinking shuttle buses then they already exist however they can be spendy and cheaper if you have a car. And by shuttle I mean tour buses, totally different in other kneck of the woods I'm sure.
@@heidimarchant5438 i’m talking about buses. If you’ve ever been to Denali you know they aren’t horribly expensive and are required. There are only a very limited number of cars allowed into the park each year and it’s based on a lottery. So you really don’t have a choice but to use the park bus. In Denali it’s a bit more of a rustic affair in line with the feel of the park and so the park buses were just re-purposed school buses, very basic. I would never suggest introducing a Disney style tram service that would be awful.

When first timers don’t know what to expect
Love your videos. The people stopping in n the road sound a lot like "leaf peepers" in Vermont. People will just stop smack in the road to take a picture of a vibrant tree. Also people will straight up walk in the middle of the road if it's a dirt road. I nearly took out an entire family around a blind corner because they were in the center of the road. It was a small dirt road but still big enough for cars. Also people's driveways can sometimes look like walking paths but they're not. At least 1-2 times a year I see people "hike" up my driveway, see my house, then awkwardly turn around and scurry away.
This makes me want to write a few more things if you ever do a video on Vermont.
1. Don't say you don't like maple syrup. Or say you like the fake stuff. We are a bit crazy about Maple syrup here. Everyone and their brother owns/works at a sugarhouse. Maple syrup is huge here and you can get almost anyone going about the latest season/grading system change/ how many taps they have etc. If you say you don't like maple syrup/only like fake stuff you're going to rub the locals the wrong way.
2. Speaking of maple syrup, don't think fall is the only time to go to VT. The very early spring is sugaring season and people will have open houses where you can sample fresh maple syrup still hot from the pan. The food is amazing! Fresh hot maple syrup with a doughnut, sap boiled eggs, maple dumplings and of course sugar on snow. You can literally get on a tour bus that will take you to different sugarhouses and you can try everything. Bring boots though it's muddy.
4. Maple apple pizza. Go get some, you won't regret it.
5. Bugspray, tick repellent.
It can get buggy sometimes. Also ticks are getting bad make sure to check everywhere especially your hair and back. Especially kids hair.
6. Lots of batteries for your camera. It's beautiful here any season.
7. Get used to being called bud. Especially if your a guy.
Scary moment my mom dropped her phone off board walks but i was able to get it by planking on boardwalk. Also loved visitor center i got cups hat and magnets. And i tried some slim jim type meat filled with cheese.

Yellowstone seems as complex as a country when it comes to planning, figuring out what to do, weather, and important things to know
