Beautiful guitar....I bought the exact telecaster this week. I already own 3 other Telecasters, but they are all MIM...so this one is my first American...and what a difference. Wow, the look, the play-ability, the sound....by far the best guitar I own (and that includes a 2 Gibson Les Paul that I own).
I’ve had this same guitar for a year and a half and I’ll be keeping it forever. At first I thought I missed out by not getting the one with the humbucker in the neck but after playing it for a few minutes I quickly realized this is the guitar for me. It’s a very versatile guitar and I love how it looks as well as the great tones I can get out of it. I got mine when they were still $1199 and found a deal on the fender deluxe case for $150. So for $1350 I got this guitar and the hard case. This same guitar and that case would cost you $1600 today so I think I got a pretty good deal. Excellent guitar imo. Take it easy
These have really gone up astronomically in price since I bought my own H/B Performer Tele around 18 months back. The colour is the 1st thing that grabbed my attention. Possibly the nicest , warmest shade i've seen within the range of the usual predictable shades of butterscotch, vintage yellow etc. Soundwise; The aubergine Performer Tele /Hum version was closer to the sound i was after, more suitable for jazz /blues. This one above has the run of the mill Tele sound, which is still incredibly good and quite vesatile. If you play country or rock then the Yosemity(pronounced Yoss-em-it-tea as in the USA nature park) Now, if only the Tele /Hum came in this honeyburst finish! Thank you for the fab video !
Fender have been pushing their prices. I get inflation and price rises and world economics blah blah. But there gets to a point where you question how much of it is legitimate lol. Fender have bought up some smaller companies recently that I also use and had an unwelcome price hike on those too. But RE the guitar- im also currently after a tele/hum guitar. Ala Keith haha. Thanks for taking the time :)
Yup, sounds and looks totally like a Tele. Pickups seem really good - bitey and bright but not too harsh. I know they've put the Yosemite pickups in a lot of their models over the years. Thanks.
Beautiful playing and great video! I've been looking at these and the Pro 2. The difference I found in cost (here in Australia) was the inclusion of the case for the Pro 2. I have a MiM Tele, which is great, but the reason for looking at another is the weight of the MiM - very heavy.
Hi mate. Great video 👍🏻 I have a Tele Player MIM which I love. Is it worth having a performer also, or are they too similar and the gap between them not worth it? Cheers , Pete.
If you like a rosewood board you would have to get the performer over the player pau ferro for sure. Otherwise they are fairly close and would just come down to which one you preferred instead of the performer being way better soec kind of thing
I’ve had the same guitar as the one in this video for 3 years and I’ve been very happy with it. Did you get the honey burst finish? Hope you like it as much as I like mine. 🤘🎸
Bought three telecasters recently... Squire classic vibe 50's, fender professional II, and fender performer. They are all great guitars and all sound quite different... the two fenders sounding the most similar. My favorite of the three in terms of tone is the performer... it's very warm sounding for a telecaster. I do play mostly clean though... so it really depends on your playing style. I don't notice anything quality difference between the professional II or the performer they are both perfect and beautiful... the necks are slightly different but after a couple of minutes playing either you forget about that depends on size of your hands and what you like... both necks are great... I don't care either way. I bought my performer for $900 used with a hard care and added a freeway switch to it giving me six tone options. I paid around $1,350 for my professional II with hard case. If you don't need a hard case I don't see any need to pay more for the professional unless you just want a fatter neck. You can buy a freeway switch for $50 that will give you more tone options than the push push on the professional II. I don't really think you can get a better tone than the performer just a different tone...so it just depends on the tone you are after... so I recommend you play both. The fret ends are a bit better on the professional II I bought... but the performer fretwork is better than on the typical player series telecasters. If you are in a budget the CV vibe 50's is epic... which again is all of the guitar you would ever need unless you collect guitars like me and have cash to burn...
Pretty good round up there tbf.. Its funny though from speaking to players day in day out, this model somehow seems to be the "least desirable" of the lineup in general. Which is in total contrast to the people ive spoken to that own these and really regard them well. Ahhhh guitar players we are a funny bunch lol
@@Paul-D ya people are funny. They probably just don't play them side by side to form a credible opinion and base their judgement on price alone. I guess I did the same until I owned them both and realized I preferred the warmth of the performer... but it's really a matter of taste on which pickups you prefer and neck shape you like... since they are almost the same guitar... unless you opt for a pine body... Just so people don't think I'm blowing smoke and don't own both here's a quick review I did... ua-cam.com/video/ZByJWiZMFX8/v-deo.html
@@Paul-D ya I love the dark night color... but for some odd reason no one I showed it to liked the color they thought it was ugly...go figure. Liked you said everyone has such different taste in guitars. After I sold my dark night I played another professional II and actually like it more than I thought... maybe the one I had had pickup issues who knows... but I still prefer the performer warm pickups a bit more but both good guitars...
Fender Performer series guitars are excellent. They have very nice feeling necks and wonderful sounding pickups. Once any setup or fret leveling issues are taken care of these are solidly good Telecasters. I even own a Performer Jazzmaster, which people seem to hate, but it is a very good playing and sounding instrument.
I have an hs performer in sunburst. I've been happy with it, but yeah it's an oddball in the fender line-up due to pricing structure. I thought they were gonna be discontinued, but with recent new shipments out here it seems a bit unclear. Perhaps Fender selling off factory stock and charging more. 🤔
I bought a Fender Player plus top aged cherry strat last year. It has a maple fretboard because I preferred that to the pao ferro that was the only other option. When I buy a guitar that does have a rosewood fretboard then it probably will not be Fender. I don't know who their marketing manager is but it seem stupid that rosewood fretboards are not offered on anything but their expensive American made guitars. I'm sure they can do without my business but these days the market is flooded with top quality guitars that are neither fenders or expensive....
Yeh i actually agree with this. Putting the pau ferro on all guitars under like £1000 is a shitty move. Ive said i dont like pay ferro on here about 500 times 😅😅😅 Edit: even the laurel found on squire now is better then pau ferro if they really want to use something else
Bought one of these last month. Had the cash for the pro 2 but preferred the feel and sound of the performer. Great guitar. Yo-semi-tee as in Sam from the WB cartoons

$1400 for a guitar that I will immediately have to upgrade with locking tuners and noiseless pickups. Considering the fact that locking tuners and noiseless pickups are non-negotiable for me, how much better do you think the fret work and neck is on this as opposed to a Mexican? Should I save some cash up front and just go with the Player Series? I do care about resale-ability and fret work is huge for me.
Honestly i wouldnt say it was much different. If your a maple neck guy get the MIM and upgrade it. For me, the pau ferro on most mim fenders instead of rosewood ensures ill never buy a mim player strat or tele again haha.
When the whole Cities thing came about and everyone moved away from rosewood on more affordable guitars they decided on pau ferro. Lord knows why, most others went for things like laurel, jatoba etc that looks and feels much better imo. However the cities thing is now not a problem and lots have gone back to rosewood, accept mim fender. I assume they bought so much of it that it needs using up and there getting away with it. But as i say, as a rosewood guy if never buy one.
