I'm Pauly and a warm welcome to my channel!
I'm all about sharing the passion for guitars and gear. From reviews and demos to sharing thoughts of the moment and chatting to you lot! This channel is a haven or an excuse for fellow enthusiasts. Whether you've seen it all or just starting your musical journey, I welcome your comments and thoughts always!
I want to emphasize that every opinion shared on this channel is genuinely mine at the time. Your preferences may differ, and that's perfectly okay. I believe our musical journey is personal, and my opinions only matter if you allow them to matter.
There's plenty of things I have planned for this channel If enough people can get involved, Mainly exploring places with significant musical history - then and now style but im not a full time UA-camr and need your support!
Thanks and ill chat to you in the comments or around stores/shows!

Riffs That Make You Want To Play & How To Play Them | Volume 1

Hi folks! Ive been thinking about how to get more done on this channel without making pointless videos that have no real value.... So I thought I would test this out and look for your feedback and see if it's something you all like. Usually they would be a little shorter bite size videos that show the songs/riffs I love and make me want to play, with some brief history and a lesson at the end. ...

Thought id make a video comparing my 2 acoustics and if the reason I got another makes sense.... that got me thinking more broadly how different are acoustic guitar sizes and materials, predictably they are really different and I can see over my lifetime getting a couple more! Let me know what you think on having different guitars and what your favourite tends to be?! *Timestamps* 00:...

Great videos. Can't wait for another one in this series. Can you show your right hand next time?
Thanks and noted 🤘
Very nice 👍🏻
Peter Green is a legendary instrumentalist RIP ❤😢
I have both of these guitars ...both different but i like the slope shoulder way better🙏🙏🙏🎵
From Canada thank you 1000percent ..awesome song choice one of my all time favorites...you have taken all those tabs i have and put it into a way that makes total sense..thank you so much🎵🎵🎵
Awesome! Thank you!
Fantastic 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵my reason for learning guitar🙏🙏🙏
One of mine too 🤘
We all sing the words at the end of that intro 🫣✨💫👍💕💓
But dont ask me what i think of youuu
Peter Greens - Fleetwood Mac Oh Well ( colourised ) -- >best version
I have this guitar and I really like it...I did two things that made a huge difference for me...for others maybe its not a big deal...but bought a Vibramate string spoiler for the bridge and a set of Fender Locking tuners...and its so much easier to string and it stays in tune much better. If I want to sell it I can put the original vintage tuners on it.
Sounds like some decent sensible mods to me 🤘
I love Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. This is a song I’ve played for years but never felt I got right. This is a great excuse to give it a fresh look. 👍
Amazing, thats what this is all about, like minded people getting involved 🤘🤘
Superb, thank you. Off to see if I can get some of that sussed out, it's one of those riffs that every time I hear it I think "I should find out how to play that". That's made my evening, ta.
Amazing - have fun with it, time well spent retracing the steps of Peter Green ❤️
I love this Peter Green music. Interesting point on the tuning. I think a lot of players from that period used relative tunings to particular keys or stings. As an example Eddie Van Halen liked his G string a particular way and tuned that different. I like a loose approach to tuning and like my 3rd to sound good....that's my way of saying I'm out of tune all the time. 😂
Theres a video in this subject alone haha
Stellar song mate.
Glad you like the tracks so far, they are mega songs to me 🤘🤘
Great lesson, what plectrums and strings are you using ?
I love this question because its the result of alot of pissing about haha. Ive strongly settled on Stringjoy 9-46 and any Ultem pick less between 0.6 - 0.8mm. I find that to be noticeably better then anything else ive tried regardless of the guitar too.
Guitar A = MexiFender…great video since I guessed wrong. The cutlass had more sparkle
They got the pickups right on those old CT50s. Not so sure about the new ones.
Great sounding amp and playing good Music
Thanks, i do wonder what the new bassman version is like haha
And I’m like number 200 woo woo
Crazy how different your humbuck sounds from mine. When I click on both of them it pretty much doubles in loudness.
The bridge P/U of a Telecaster always stomps all over a Strat bridge P/U
A few years ahead now and i totally agree 100%. In fact i may prefer teles in general now- how things change!
I found the very same issue with the narrow frets on my 61. I tried everything for several months to acclimatise myself for them but just couldn’t get along with them. I’ve now had the Guitar refretted with medium jumbo and it’s perfect.
Nice one for sticking with it and going for the refret. Ive got 1 or 2 guitars still that i cant wait to refret with medium jumbos 🤣
I've got a v 100 limited edition and after having a set up it's an absolutely fantastic guitar 🎸🎶
Thumbs up on song choice. Never heard it but know some others ie Mr. Big which i learned some time way back. Cheers Canada.
Thanks for watching 🤘
Is the action low? Out of the box
Expect to have to do set up work at this price point - long as you buy from a good dealer who cares you should be okay
Is it better than tanglwood crossroads?
Its about on a par - problem is guitars at this price are totally hit and miss so you might get a better vintage in 1 box and a better tanglewood in another
@Paul-D ok if they are hit and miss I don't want to risk it. Can you recommend a good guitar that won't be hit and miss for about £200 even second hand will do
rguitars.co.uk/products/pch1-om-acoustic-guitar-inc-100-professional-setup-added-value?_pos=7&_fid=18c9e555d&_ss=c A little bit over budget but if you can find the extra from somewhere it will blow everything else at that price point out the water.
@Paul-D ok thanks 👍
Anyone know if the pots on these are long or short shaft?
There long shaft
dumb question, just started on the guitar and wondering why people are so obsessed with roadworn guitars? does a worn guitar sound better? or is it all about looks?
Not a dumb question at all People like it because the feel of a thinner (preferably nitro) finish is much better then a thick plastic feel over the guitar. It allows the guitar to feel more alive and natural to play, even the way it smells every time to you open the case, and therefore makes it sound better to those people. That said, others look at the guitar as simply an object, a tool, and don’t care for such details in the slightest - after all it is mostly about the player being good. Then you get into relic Vs Non-relic. You can have the benefits of the same nitro finish and natural feel without all the wear and tear so thats just a looks preference. Personally i do care about ALL the details on a guitar even though im not a great player, part of my love for it is those details and knowing what to look for.
Great little tune, great lesson thx!
Thanks for getting involved, means alot 🤘
Love this format. Subbed 🙂
Really appreciate it
Very cool
Thanks for watching 🤘
Like the honesty bud well done you ❤
Appreciate it 😃
Love that song.
Its a great track
Completely agree on the flat D shape necks, I have nightmares about that neck shape
To this day theres only 2 shapes i cant stand. The old epi slim D that they put on so many versions, and the PRS wide thin. All others im totally fine with wether its a baseball bat or a slim fender lol.
Really nice song lesson. I like that you also played the piano as a backing track for this lesson. Look forward to more in this series. Thanks!
appreciate it thanks
how about a video/study on Conquistadora by Paul Rodgers
Ive got a few more personal ones but i am hoping they will lead to people recommending stuff 🤘
great stuff - subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Sweet format sharing a little story about why you get the feels from passages of music and how to play them. Especially good for less advanced players. Cheers 👍
Thanks for checking it out and commenting 🤘🤘
Pickups are in a network so the Pots (volume and tone), capacitors , wiring and switches will impact the signal/tone.
Very true. Nowadays its my go-to thing to sort out first if i dont get on with something. Cheaper then a set of pickups and can be just the fix
One of my favourite songs, thank you.
Thanks for watching. Appreciate it
Well done, I think you've made the right choice with regard to sponsorship. Most of the channels which produce advertising content end up being all the same, showcasing the same products at the same time. I know it doesn't make you money but if you can afford to stick to your principles you'll make content that you can be chuffed with. Thank you.
Exactly, and I TOTALLY understand why so many channels do it. It's a win-win for them and also people can just choose not to watch if they don't like it. So there's more reasons to do it then not, I just can't do it because there's no passion there - and I know anyone watching would see right through it.
i think the idea on itself is good , but .... just like you said youself , lessons / music theory ect. are not so hot on yt , we live in a consumer world and want to see the goodies : ) nah , serious though , i hope this will work , good luck .
Honestly even if just a few dozen people can be behind it thats enough for it to be worth while, from that few dozen it will find more like minded people eventually.
Great video mate. On reflection I think the appealing part of this format is you dont intimidate learning or beginner guitarists. I think many get put off by themusic theory phases or PDF charts attached etc because they just want to play. I love that you suggested just playing along to the record. So many learn that way but also so much fun. Well done mate. Hope the new idea kicks off for you.
thanks as always @coffeerocker1429
@@Paul-D yep , i guess it's more a long term investment , gear reviews are nice but yt is already flooded with channels doing that same thing , i did not know this song , i never was a free / paul kosoff fan , so i already know more about them then before the vid : ) , i do like the riff ect. .
Nice one 🤘🤘🤘
Superb choice of guitarist to begin this series. Kossoff has the ability to exude massive emotion through his playing. Thanks for taking the time to show the melody. Off now to have a go myself 😊
appreciate you :D And he certainly did, its incredible
Good stuff. Kossoff came up with some unusual inversions that aren't always that obvious. I'm never quite sure what that clanging chord is at the end of Fire and Water. I also like the track "Lady" on the best of Free album , unusual guitar phrasing. Not sure who played the guitar on that.
thanks man, and for sure - just one of them players who knows how to speak with a guitar - amazing
You've started this experiment with a great lick from a great artist. It was very easy to follow and really liked the way you explain why this song is a fave of yours. Also, great encouragement to have fun exploring the riff. This is the sort of 'lesson' that checks all my boxes. Although it's a shame about the monetisation situation, I hope you continue with the series. I also thought the Eastman sounded great. I'd like to know a little bit about what you were playing through, your set up, etc. Nice one!
Really appreciate that, Yeh it's annoying, just because UA-cam will only show it to literally 10% of the people that would otherwise see it. Only way round is people comment etc to beat the system lol. Hopefully it's worth continuing as there's loads like this haha. My setup is in abit of limbo atm because im ampless! temporarily. Last few weeks ive been using a kemper with a couple pedals running into it. But im hoping to back with a proper amp pretty soon.
The downside to this idea is most (including this one) of the videos I make will be cut from monetisation which I don't mind at all BUT when that happens UA-cam doesn't promote those videos so it really will need actual people behind it to work, so again please let me know haha. Thanks!
No big difference 😂
The fat 50s are a clear winners they got way more bite
Definitely noticeable on the bridge. I am looking for hotter pickups now i think, blame humbuckers haha
T64 every time for me. The solid body just sounded a bit more nasally whereas the T64 had that acoustic chime, certainly when overdrive wasn't boosted. They're fairly indistinguishable when overdriven. Currently on the lookout for one of the older SB59/V violin finish models in lefty orientation but looks like everyone is keeping a hold of them as not much out there at the moment :).
I have noticed finding used older ones has already gotten abit harder, even not in lefty haha. Thanks for watching
