Crackdown 3 - Was It Really That Bad?

- I've been playing Crackdown 3 and in this video, give my thoughts on whether this game was as bad as some people claimed when it was released in 2019.

I will say. The game as is is a fine game. The issue was they over promised so hard
Feel the same! The cinematic was so entertaining, like everything was wow! But when I played it I was like yeah it's cool but it's missing something.
It is a fucking vile spit in the face of real fans of the franchise...which I have to admit is a very low number now, but I will forever refuse crackdown 3 as a continuation of the first 2, it is some weird fanfic crap that doesn't take any of the original two seriously and refutes all the setup of the previous 2 games for whatever this game is.
I've completed the game, but to play with the keys to the city is really fun
So this is how I found out one of the games I had the most fun with sucked for everyone else

Crackdown 2 online was Legendary, actually it’s the 1st game that got me addicted to online 👍🏾💪🏾 i couldn’t wait for part 3 💯 waited so many years for this 🤦🏾♂️ after 2 days my Wife couldn’t believe it.She remembered from 2010-2014 me playing online all night, miss those days 💪🏾 around 2006 crackdown was something that caught my interest so I’ve been a fan since.Crackdown 3 online was thee most disappointed I’ve ever been off a game ever

Its an alright game, the only problem is the campaign is too short
I had fun with it personally but really it hardly any different from the first and second game. I think that why it was panned despite quite big advertising and Terry crews. Yes it flopped but it can be fun
Yeah I agree, Pete. I've played some more since making the video and it's good to jump into for some mindless action I guess. Definitely didn't deserve the overly negative reviews in my opinion.
I started playing it yesterday…almost done with the game..i find it more fun than expected, just didnt ever find a need for cars but a few times

Not even. The first game was better by far. This game is the last jedi of crackdown.
This series went from amazing to bad to WTF!?!?! Ditching the changing vehicles was the first bad sign. Then having all the agents heads covered after leveling up anything defeating the purpose of picking an agent in the first place. And the 3rd game is just the first but waaaaaay shittier and like a qsudo-agents of mayhem.
Best way to describe is it's like Cyberpunk, fans who knew what the promise and ambition never made it to the final product and newcomers like it cause they don't know what they missed out on.
Hey man i like your video. I'm not against irony-laced recaps of older, failed games that endless poke fun but when I'm hunting up old games I'm after some thoughtful analysis and formed opinions. And we don't have to agree as you say but we can always respect any opinion that's had a decent effort in its formation. Nice one👍
And it's no 1 for me because the athmophere was unbeatable. Climbing the police tower the first time to have the sountrack subtly dynamically react the higher I climbed until finally, at the top the synthwave wove in to the wind and city effects for an atmospheric moment that made me want to buy beers for all the devs and the whole game had a similarly great integrity to its atmosphere. 1 also has a very basic, clean and tidy but cool aesthetic that hasn't aged badly at all imo.
2 was a decent effort but felt it had to introduce bigger battles, more chaos and destroyed areas all at the cost of the original's cool atmosphere.
And poor old 3 for me was a game made by corporate expectation more than a bunch of dudes with cool ideas. About as good as 2 for me.
This game was fun as hell
it would have been different with the destructible enviroment I think, that was the way to go, and there was already the technology to do it with a lower scale, Red faction did it before, this would have been a great experience specially in multiplayer if they kept that feauture; maybe cloud computing wasn´t there, hell even today seems like it is not something viable to use in a videogame. besides this and titanfall 1 I don´t know many games that used or tried to use cloud computing to do something that the hardware "wasn´t able to do"...
The Red Faction developers said it would be extremely difficult to do it on the scale of a world such as crackdown 3. It's not as easy as you think
@@DJVideso I know it has to be hard, otherwise it would be commonly use in any open world game. The thing is that they made the destructive enviroment the main selling point, then they delayed the game and finally launched it without the main feature
Honestly crackdown was great for what it was people will crap on anything for the sake of console wars. If the game had more melee combos and a traversal ability I'd still jump on and play

The game deserves all the hate it gets. Its like crackdown 1 from the mirror universe where everything is tarded and stupid.
yes 6.5/10 game for me but I do go back to it quite a bit though as it's pick up and play. The combat is rather fun and more advanced over the first two games in feel. The fact you can replay missions is a great addition as is creating your own combat scenarios with keys to the city options. I sometimes load this up and quite enjoy my time with it but it's definitely underdeveloped compared to the first game. You can however get a sense of how Joseph Staten shaped the narrative here for the better and it's a sometimes rather decent experience. Yes certainly not a terrible game but it does lack a soul to match the first game
The first game is definitely the one to play despite the combat feeling not so cool as this game. Crackdown 1 was an 8/10 gameplay but the experience was a collection of everything being well stitched together to make a great overall 10/10 experience. This coming from someone that still plays it so my perspective I would think is a little different to someone only having played it the once way back

@@jordanholman4832 i get that but by judging by past entries its worse. Its just as bad as 2 by way of being a worse version of 1. And holy shit the multi player was sooo not fucking needed. Keep the 2 coop but oh my god. To me at this day in age "meh" is inexcusable.
Personally my favorite crackdown is 3 but campaign is way to short can do it in just like 6 hours
I just played the first stage. It's not a modern PC game. It's a shooter from early 2000s style, with better graphics. It got boring fast. Even in the first stage, I know it's gonna be repetitive. But I must admit, I would have loved this game if it came out in 2004 or 2005.
Fun game beautiful game that u can get it on GP. I just got done playing it. It’s a fun game that’s great for teenagers I enjoyed crackdown when I was teen. What I’m saying is I would rather my son play this than grand theft auto or cyberpunk reviewers don’t understand simple things like that

I wish it was a bit easier to control vehicles. It's like trying to control something on ice. Those races are absolutely ridiculous to try and do. And the collecting aspect of it is a little much. 500 orbs is a lot. And it isn't always easy to see them. you have to systematically run around each area multiple times until you find them all. By the time you find all that crap and max your stats, you've long since beaten the game. Which gives you no real incentive you find all the orbs and races and rooftop races and stuff. And there's also a ton of achievements. I like getting platinum trophies on PS, but I've never completed a game like that on Xbox. And I'm not sure i can be bothered to do it with this one either. I beat it and enjoyed it. But I wouldn't say it made me feel a way like Stray, or TLOU or Life is Strange ever did.
It's a good game, the only crappy thing is the camera

Thanks for the review! Maybe its not a 1 out of 10 but its rather lackluster and mediocre from what I've played of it. I'd give it a 5 myself it's mindless which isn't all bad. But it definitely wasn't as good as advertised. I'd probably rather play Earth Defense Force for some good mindless fun. There are plenty of better games for sure but also way worse games.

I definitely bought in to the hype that this game was a total stinker. I’m interested in the multiplayer. It was very ambitious. I would like to know if the cloud processing for destruction ever worked at all.
Saying the game is good for the multiplayer is what caused the downfall of this franchise. They put more effort into that then making it fun and expanding what they had
But no they steamlined it for you dumb dumbs to play patty cake together. Multiplayer enjoyers are what dumbs games down.

I actually le the game even if it's repetitive, there's so many games that are repetitive but people luke them I guess you just gotta have to not mind that but anyways I give it a 7/10 now I wanna play the other 2 lol
Review doesn't make sense to me personally as someone who plays and enjoys a lot of older games. Because you are like "it would have worked in the past" but stuff that worked in the past holds up now. And you're like "I don't know if this is worse than the older games" and "the older games were good" but "this is boring/throwaway."
It's also weird how reviewers have framed things such that 7/10 is average and 5/10 is worst possible score. Instead of 6/10 being above average you use it to mean bad without being harsh.
Now Im not saying that doesn't make sense. Because I think you are just going off of the normal conventions and not everyone agrees that old games hold up. I just don't have a takeaway. Idk if it's fun bad, or dated or just soulless as someone who has never played a crackdown game and just looking for opinions.
Don't have a review personally. Am prolly gonna give it a try on gamepass. But that's why Im here going through youtube videos, to see what problem people had with this game. I worked at a gamestop when we released this and I don't even remember much about the launch other than "oh there's this xbox exclusive".

But yeah I didn't get a chance to get far into it last night and now Im more focused on good games. But I know sometimes games that I think are bad can still be fun if the combat loop is satisfying and you can sorta play mindlessly. Im just curious about it as a game/series i never looked twice at. Usually not an xbox/pc person.
Just compare the running and jumping to Saints Row 4, it's bad, it's really bad.

A 30fps cap is absolutely abysmal. Why an incredibly relevant complaint of the crossplay limitations for PC gamers upsets you is baffling to me. You go on to hyperbolize their claim while ignoring how abysmal even a "smooth" 30 fps is. We're not living in 2007 anymore, a minimum 60fps target in gaming was well accepted at the time of release for Crackdown 3. Hitting 100fps in a title is not some moonshot claim like you make it out to be and even in 2019, monitors with refresh rates well above 100Hz had been fairly commonplace/available for several years. I doubt you'll care, but you lost all credibility for me at this point in the video. I'm all for criticizing ridiculous User reviews as people hand out 1's and 10's far too frequently, but go after them on points of merit. Don't choose to die on a hill that hasn't been worth anyone's time for the better part of two decades.
I can't remember what I said in this video now as I made it a while back but I completely respect your views and thanks for the reply. And yes, I do care what viewer's think - I'm always open to criticism. For the record, I value frame rate in modern day gaming A LOT. But again, I need to watch this video back because I really don't remember what I said here.

and judging from gameplay footage I can tell this one might be better but still not that good
