OMG I WAS SO LOW

I saw the video before seeing this comment oops😅
Sincere question: why are you getting rid of the grass in the aviary? Birds like to pick through the grass for insects, grubs, and the like.
EDIT: Thank you, everyone, for your input! I'm still hoping to get a definitive answer from Jake or Becky. 😊
@@Andrea-xs4ny I was just finna say tha
Probably since they have a history of pests that have killed some of their birds it is likely to cut down on ticks and lice, along with anything bigger that could be in the grass like snakes and weasels, but I am just speculating
I think in a previous video they mentioned that the birds will kill the grass and it will just become mud and they want to avoid the dirt+mud combo with gravel or wood chips
They should cut the grass in the aviary but not all the way down, if it's cut the way you normally see around houses then they can still forage since it's more natural
@@Straw_.B3rrI-on-claws that makes sense but look at the video, the area the mobile chicken coop was sitting at it was completely mud, the chickens just killed the grass entirely. I think it’ll just be easier to maintain in the long run, rather than having to mow the grass around a bunch of birds
oh my goodness I love that fish shot under water. What a beautiful dream you all are living. Keep up the good work. Love from Tassie.
Hallelujah 🙌🏻!!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I was owing a loan of $49,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery, Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $11,000 and got my payout of $290,500 every month…God bless Ms Susan Jane Christy ❤️
Hello how do you make such monthly??
I'm a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down🤦🏼of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God🙏.
Thanks to my co-worker (Alex) who suggested Ms Susan Jane Christy
She's a licensed broker here in the states🇺🇸 finance advisor.
After I raised up to 525k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states 🇺🇸🇺🇸and also paid for my son's surgery (Oscar). Glory to God.shalom.
Can I also do it??? My life is facing lots of challenges lately.
WOW, great update tour of your farm and family. Thanks so much. Not sure how long I have been following your channel but I know I started when you had only two sons and lived in another house. Look forward to seeing the new aviary when you move all the flock inside. So you still have your pigs? I did not see them on the tour? Take care.😇❤
I wonder what ever happend to the 2 potbelly pigs? There was no mention of them or I missed an episode? I've been following you guys since you started.❤
I was wondering this too! Hadn't heard about them in awhile! They get rid of them or did they die?
🥓 … assuming lol
I've commented this SO many times and there's never an answer 😭
@@melissa5907 OMG- 💀💀
They haven't been mentioned in quite sometime. Not sure what took place but weird there's been no mention of where they are or what happened to them.
The best part of vlogging your farm activities is all the commentary about how & why you’re doing it wrong. What a shame people can’t just watch and enjoy.
To address the gate into aviary a concrete apron under the gate which can be 6 inches wide or a couple of yards. . This will not only stop predators but also stop vehicles wearing tracks making the gaps bigger.
I agree with this. And make the concrete deep and wide to avoid predators from digging below it
I came with the same basic idea
Something relatively fast growing and evergreen, if it will grow where you are, is a leyland cypress. I planted quite a few around here before I even thought of having my own flock and they are perfect. My birds jet under them all the time to hide from hawks. After they are established, they grow several feet per year and the low hanging branches provide excellent cover. Anything else with similar traits would work.
You guy's are amazing! You do so much, that sounds mild...Your family does in a day, more work than most people do in weeks, months perhaps!
I am so happy when I watch you all work together and you are so joyful, despite ALL THE HARD WORK ❤ You are honest with the hard times too. I am glad you keep it real.
I really enjoy and appreciate getting to watch and learn so many things. I have been watching you for year's. You have grown so much. In family, land and animals. It's been wonderful to be a very tiny part of it.
Sending my gratitude to each of you!!
With joy,
Audri
I loved your tour video a lot, That's a lot of animals you have.
You might try burying chain link fence under the ground next to the exterior fence outside. That should slow the predators from digging under the fence. Hurts their paws.
Wow it's been over 4 yrs since I started watching and enjoying your families life. Thank you!. Can't believe how much Uriah and Eli have grown and matured.
Same
This question is slightly unrelated to the video, im not fully through im about 4 minutes in, how do your mandarin ducks sleep on perches? My ducks perch on my arm sometimes and somehow but i thought ducks couldnt sleep on perches because of their webs on their feet.
Edit: also i think you guys should get call ducks or brahmas, or try chicken shows. I dont remember yall having any call ducks or brahmas on the farm or jubilee orpingtons
Edit 2: omg this comment is so long- 6:35 but what i do is i take them out if the nesting box a lot, but a friend i met from a chicken show says that putting cold water on their brood patch works too, that way they cant sit on eggs and incubate them.
It would be a delight to see how the aviary looks at night time. Do you keep solar lights around? Is it okay for the birds to have outdoor lights?
Lovely to see your kids assist their parents in doing farm chores and learn how to be independent and reliable, especially little Bella❤
Roots of floating plants (duckweed, frogbit, redroot floaters, water lettuce, water hyacinth if an outdoor summer tub) are excellent hiding spots for fry. So is milfoil, hornwort and cabomba.
150? I know there's alot. Thank you for making time for us and sharing. Beautiful family. Your still my number 1 favorite channel. I love you guys. God bless you all!
Which plant is best for fish pond?
Koi Ponds
Water Lilies (Nymphaea) Water Lilies are a favourite choice for koi ponds due to their stunning flowers and broad leaves. ...
Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) ...
Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) ...
Anacharis (Elodea canadensis) ...
Parrot's Feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum)
Great video Thanks for sharing. Love seeing all the animals & your beautiful family. 💙💖 🐾🐾
What happened to your pigs? I watch every video you put out, but for the life of me I can't remember the last time I saw them, nor can I remember anything about them being sold or dying. Of course, I'm older so it may just mean I forgot!
In my early 30's and been asking about the pigs for ages now ☹️
276 and growing! My wife and I enjoyed watching this with our coffee this morning. We get inspired by all the projects and dreams you all are chasing - Dakota & Angela
You Guys should plant some trees in The aviary so The birds can sit on them. 😊
This comment should have a million likes 😊
@@tammystoudt5137
Hmm…thats a thought
Plants that expose roots to the water are the best for algae control. Exposing submersed foliage is good, too, but nothing beats the power of water hyacinth or water cress to strip nutrients from water. Usually a combination of oxygenators and floating plants with roots in the water is sufficient to combat most algae.
Sorry to Dad , but amazed at how much all 4 children look just like Mom. Beautiful family and farm. I so enjoy your videos.
When parents have sex to conceive children the person who releases water first the children will look like him or her
Love the new logo ❤
Fantastic farm tour !!
Looks like Eli is having a growth spurt!
Love all the updates. Bella is growing up beautifully. The boys, wow all handsome.❤️👩🏻🦳 from California
Cucumbers and squash are excellent plants to grow if you have a raccoon problem. The spiky leaves help keep these destructive critters away.
The aviary is looking AWESOME!! Haven’t a clue about them so I’m just sitting back watching you worry about getting it finished. The stronger, most secure, safer for the birds and fish MO seems lengthy but effective…excited to see the fish getting very comfortable. Keep it up, can’t wait!…lol
If you're worried about pests near your chicken coop, consider planting herbs like mint, lavender, and rosemary. These are also great herb staples for the kitchen! To aid in a chicken's overall health, sage is a worthy plant to grow.
In zoo aviaries, they use a kind of brush on the bottom of the doors or a rubber flap similar to weatherstripping on a door in your home. The edge makes contact with the surface of the ground and sweeps the ground when it opens and shuts. This protects the small birds from escaping and keeps outer animals out.
Several comments and questions
1. Watching Becky,❤ ready to after that trailer coop
just shows you that she❤ is the backbone of your whole Homestead.❤
2. I miss Johnny Cash. Have you renamed any of your roosters Johnny Cash again?
3. The optimum of security gate issue and possible solution. At my home my security gate had a gap just like your front gates of aviary. What I did was to put the foam covering for pipes which is found in the hardware store. They are sold by I the foot. It has adhesive on one side. Just to attach this to the bottom of gate. Closes that gap permanently.
Y'all need Call ducks! They are so cute!
Omg I just said that!!
@@Straw_.B3rrI-on-claws Really?! Haha! They are so cute am I right!? I have three!
Pond build was my favorite
I always feel happy when I watch your episodes. There is so much life (and hard work) on your farm!

It is always a pleasure when you videos pop😄
You changed your wallpaper ♥️.
You have gotton huge since I started watching your channel. It is always so soothing your videos. Thank you.
You should consider installing paper fly traps in the cow barn to reduce fly infestations
Lavender keeps mice, mosquitos, and other common pests at bay. Consider planting daffodils to deter these common pests
Amazing how fast your family is growing up.
You are the best farm and animal channel out there! Congrats on all that you accomplished😊
4:12 that's a happy man right there
I liked the tour video you farm has really grown just like your family since when you moved into the farm.
I still wish you weren’t mixing ducks and Koi fish together! Large fish like Koi- Carp can and do eat ducklings. And duck poop will cause constant parasite issues with the fish.
Having little fishies for the ducks to eat would’ve been a much better idea… and a Koi pond outside of the aviary
I understand koi fish are gorgeous but I would have been so much more amazed at learning about native fish species put in the pond. Well, if a fish eats a duckling I guess it’s just part of life now 😅
That's a plateful, alot of animals to care for. Fortunately, the kid's help you and Becky a lot, which shares the load while they are learning all about your business life along the way. 👍
You could call the male baby emu Brody. Love your family ❤️💙🩷🩵🩵🩵
Fish won't freeze in the winter months even if the water ices up. Fish go dormant in winter like bears, but wake up starving in the spring.
I don’t think that’s the same for Koi though
I don't know how possible it is to do at this point but putting a path of pavers under the doors would keep animals from digging in there. I think you dug a good bit of the fence pieces down already? So that should all be good if you hadn't some form of wire mesh going down about a foot and then going out at a 45 angle another foot-ish towards the outside should keep anything from successfully digging in.
we follow your family since the begining of your adventure ... the kids have grown so fast .... your projects are motivating
we wait to see the avierie in action (need to add some threes for the birds to hide and perch......)
you have achive a lot with loving family
🤩
GOOD GRAVY!!! Look at the spurs on Mannie! ❤
Always excited to watch...feel good videos....great family ❤
Love the new logo!!! It looks a lot more modern
We think you're doing amazing! You've built an awesome farm and learning space for your kids and others. We are so impressed at how well you have done. You also manage to take really good care of all of the animals. It's been awesome to watch your family & farm grow God bless and and keep your family.🌷🌷.
I might have missed where the pigs have gone, where are they now?
Woah so many animals! Have you guys ever thought about getting a reptile and setting up a bioactive terrarium?
Your pheasants will need some ground cover. I wouldn't just put bark down. You'll need some low bushes or shrubs
Thanks for making these videos.I love watching them. I've been watching them since I was 12 now im 17.
What happened to the pigs 🐖 ❤
Add special spikes that get attached to the bottom of the fence and stick down into the ground.
So that nothing can crawl or dig under the gates- can you lay down wire mesh or wire grates (from outer to inner gate) with gravel underneath and around the wire or the grates?!
Love your video keep it up your Farm is very nice, 😊 have any suggest build a bunker, like Jerry's bunker, the phone guy it puts apart have a look at his bunker is very good ,thanks again😊😊😊
Very impressive loved looking at all the birds and animals. Beautiful view of your fish in the pond.
What about digging a line below the unsafe areas and pouring concrete? You could pour a slab inside/ outside the gates too
Wondering if you should have motion lights along the outside of the aviary. I know I'm trying to play talkshow during the night facing out my window to hopefully deter coyotes in the area. (Thoughts for young emu names. Bonsai (to go with bamboo kind of Japanese plant things) or Pikachu to go with the Ooo sound. Probably other thoughts out there too 😉 )
A well made pair of boots is key for any and all farming chores
Do like a slope around the AVIARY with cement and gravel or dig a trench around the aviary like a few inches down and like a few inches wide a square maybe but go down a lil deep and filling it with concrete
I was thinking the same roughly but just at the gate. They get alot of snow and ice, concrete makes it worse. I don't think they would want to spend the extra money for salts to melt the ice.

I love your videos. I wish there was more.
I was waiting for a new video i just love your channel. And i love y'all new boots 👢🥾👢🥾
Like the new profile picture it looks nice (:
Love watching your videos with all your animals & your kids are so cute. 👍❤️😀
Enjoyed the tour. ❤
Great farm plus animals & family!❤😂😊
I love the neat setup of your farm. I would get a homestead and raise our kids like that if we were young. But they are all adults now! 😪
We need more horse updates!!! ❤ Absolutely love those beauties and would love to learn more about your family’s progress with them!
10000% I they are so cuteeee 🥰
Thank you for the update have you thought of putting concrete base under the gates
Does your big pond still have all the other fish you put in there?
Boy, those fish are beautiful
When the gate is closed you could put a trench on concrete dig down about 12 inchs that should stone animals from trying to dig under the gate or go deeper then 12 inchs the deeper you go the better it will be.
I really enjoy your stories and always look forward to your videos. Your children are enjoying an amazing childhood and I am sure they will grow into wonderful adults someday. They will have a ton of stories to share with their families of growing up with all those animals. & ❤ Mr. D
No pigs ? Where are they ? 😱
im sorry, im glad it was okay but i had a hard LAUGH at the drone footage of Becky running with her arms waving in the air to close the doors that opened lol
I thought that was funny too 😂
The amount of daily chores is insane.
The new Logo looks awesome
❤
wait it was Bantams???? I’ve been calling it Phantom flock for so long! I feel so dumbooster ahaha
Beautiful video of the farm & family ❤💐💝🙏😊
Get concrete under the gates no predictors will be able to dig or come inside
What about the pigs???
That was very fun!
I would put a concrete slab under the gates, that way predators can’t make a hole under it
Hello White House on the Hill Family, did I miss the two pigs?
excelente video video me encanto la actualizacion saludos desde venezuela
Check out gold shaw farms channel's set up for water. That might be something that could work for you guys. Great video!
Went to Tecovas in AZ was fun to visit and stunning boots!..I was thinking 250 animals so a bit off :) .. We currently have 148
How do you feed them during the winter when the water freezes or do they go into hibernation
I want you to put the pheasants in the aviary, they are meant to have WAY more space!
Nicely very Nice all animals i like its
If you're looking for a well trained horse, you should colab with Shae at free spirit equestrian! I think you and the family could learn a lot from her and get a quality horse!
How about the pigs? 🐖
Where is the pigs gone?
"Hi guys, thank you for the update! It is really great to see all your animals, including Hmong chickens and peacocks. Please consider adding more rare and exotic bird breeds to your farm. ❤❤❤!
