It tortures me to think of potential books that remain unwritten from Neil in his retirement years, maybe more travelogues from road trips & maybe even an autobiography. Who will ever know ? It was strange that in the couple of years after the R40 tour when we all knew the band was done, I kept expecting to see updates on his website about what he was up to - maybe more accounts of motorcycle rides - but there was nothing. I started to think that maybe something was wrong, but hoped it was just him enjoying family time. When the terrible news emerged that January day in 2020 it all tragically made sense. If there was ever a guy that deserved a long happy retirement with his 2nd family it was Neil. No justice sometimes in this world. Thank you so much for your heartfelt video's. Rush fans really are a unique breed.
AMEN! My thoughts exactly, no matter how painful to consider, I felt the same things, at the same times as you did through the years. Although the tragic loss of his wife and daughter could never be replaced, Neil did find Carrie, and they did have Olivia, and I've always found great justice in this happy ending of his Ghost Rider years. You're right, the evil forces of this world have a sick sense of irony. One of the greatest minds to ever exist, was taken from us by brain cancer! What the?!! Neil's music, made with Geddy and Alex, and his LYRICS will live on as a lasting legacy by a singular genius we were blessed to "know" Thank you for your beautiful note. Counterparts was the best album they did in the 90s and I was fortunate enough to see them starting in 88 for Hold Your Fire Presto roll the bones counterparts and test for Echo UNO Lakefront Arena for each one of them in New Orleans and I got to say that counterparts was the quintessential concert I went to in the 90s of rushed and I would say in close second would be roll the bones followed by Presto then test for echo which was my least favorite album from the 90s but to Hold Your Fire tour was better than test for Echo. But the best show of all time I've ever seen was the role of the bone store because it had an incredible opening band Primus in their third year as a three-piece right after they made sailing the Seas of cheese they went on tour with Rush and that was the greatest concert I've ever been to In My Life. The two greatest trios of all time and it's too bad that Tim Alexander to me the best drummer the past 30 years from Primus retired and left Primus about a week or two ago and they're searching for a new Drummer I put in my audition but I doubt I'll become the next prime is drummer but I gave it a try. But that's a nice mug and coffee cup you got there too bad the counterparts one has a break in it but I'm not going to rub it in I'm sure they'll replace it for you but yeah Neil love that Lamborghini Miura P400 s. But they auctioned off his whole set of cars for 3.9 million dollars
You and me seem to be Counterparts. My Rush concert journey began with Roll the Bones, Counterparts, Test for Echo, skip a few years, Snakes, etc, and finally R40. I remember seeing Primus with Rush, and on a second stage at the Horde Tour. I'm going to feature Les and Geddy in my next video. I've mentioned in several videos how much Counterparts means to me musically, conceptually, and especially lyrically. I'm trying to remember which videos I've talked about Counterparts, but it's a few of them. My "Wisdom of Neil Peart" video features the lyrics of Everyday Glory. You're a fellow drummer too! Good morning, hello to you too. I'm glad you noticed my necklace. I've worn my shark tooth necklace to every important event of my life. My wedding day, the births of all of my kids, and every other momentous occasion, this necklace has been with me for so long, my family has called it my good luck charm. While I don't believe in luck, it's still one of my most prized possessions. I grew up in New England, born in New Hampshire, lived in Vermont, and finally lived on Cape Cod during High School and college. As my family visited my grandparents numerous times a year before I lived there, I've been walking the beaches of Cape Cod my entire life. On these walks I collected shells, rocks, and often found shark teeth on the beach. Seaside is my soul-scape. I've had my shark tooth necklace since I was 14, which is around the same time I discovered Rush. I've replaced the rope necklace a couple times, but the necklace as a whole has been with me for about 36 years. You suggested I "loose the shark tooth necklace" - Well, it does loosen, the rope necklace has slide knots that allows me to lengthen it to remove and tighten to put on. Perhaps you meant "lose" the necklace? Meaning I should get rid of it? Hopefully I've shared enough to let you know how important my necklace is to me. Thanks for watching and writing.
