I'm honored, thank you, my friend. Oh, I'm working. We're heading to Cape Cod for a massive family gathering for Christmas. Since I'll be away from my "home studio", I've been working night and day to create videos for you guys while I'm away. I just finished a new Trilogy of Rush videos, actually, a total of four ;-) These will be released throughout the Christmas season. If time permits, I've begun work on episode one of a Rush series I promised in one of my videos. (When I said, "I'm working on something big") I am, but this one has been difficult to fully conceptualize. I know what I want to create, but the narrative and story I want to tell have eluded me. Tonight, inspiration came, and once I take care of this neck pain, I hope to get to work. I really appreciate you being here and your kind words have encouraged me. Thank you. Be well my friend, Eric R50 Trilogy Special Edition ua-cam.com/video/mgH2VyrKBhc/v-deo.html Loudboy’s RUSH Collection: loudboy2112.com/rush/
My favorite band since I listened to my first Rush song, Cygnus X1, in 1978, age 7, and my life forever changed. Went to every concert since 1985. Depressed since they ended, and we lost Neil, but now I actually feel that in the Afterlife, we're actually living in the "Rush Renaissance".
"Rush Renaissance" NICE! With your permission, I may have to steal this for an upcoming project theme, or title. For me, it was 2112. I envy you guys who have been to every Rush show since the discovery, your Rush awakening. I'm thrilled to hear from you, who shares my passion for the Guys at Work. If you haven't, check out my channel for many other Rush videos, including a 3-hour R50 Trilogy video. Stay tuned, I've been working on several videos simultaneously, so I have Rush for you guys while I'm away from my home studio for Christmas vacation. Thanks bud, Eric R50 Trilogy Special Edition ua-cam.com/video/mgH2VyrKBhc/v-deo.html
Thank you for the channel. I discovered Rush in the spring of 1981 when I was in the 8th grade. My home room teacher was this super cool old school hippie whose name was Barry (I went to an alternative school in Seattle where students were on a first name basis with our teachers). Barry had an old reel to reel tape player and always let us play music while we did our assignments. His tapes were loaded with AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and of course, Rush. The first song that I remember getting stuck in my head was Limelight. Especially the Alex strums his guitar during the chorus. I just remember waking up with that melodic sound playing over and over in my head. Spring moved into summer and my mom, who had recently married my stepdad (who I was not at all fond of) decided that the three of us would bond if we went on vacation together. I was forced to go on a ten day camping trip with them through the Canadian Rockies. I went kicking and screaming, armed with a portable tape deck, two Journey albums and I believe a Lover Boy tape. Tom Sawyer was stuck in my head and I remember each and every town we stopped in running to the local record stores with my allowance burning a hole in my pocket in search of a copy of Moving Pictures. There wasn’t a single record store in all of Alberta that had a copy of that album in stock. With the exception of Jasper. They had one vinyl copy, which hardly did me any good on a road trip. My neighbor ended up giving me his little sister‘s copy when I returned to Seattle. What sealed the deal for me with this band came later that summer, my sister and I had spent the day at a local lake. And on our way back home in her Volkswagen bug she popped into her cassette deck, 2112! I was blown the F#[% away and ran out and immediately bought that album. Then Signals dropped and when I first heard Subdivisions, I remember thinking that these guys had written that song that completely described me. Wow, a band that understood me. Their music was so different from everything else that was popular during that time. 43 years and 30 concerts in three different countries and on two different coasts later and I love these guys as much today as I did back then. Their music has gotten me through some rough times and has also been my soundtrack through some of my most amazing memorable experiences. Their music has also brought some incredible life long friendships to my life. People from different backgrounds who I’d likely have never heard of met but who loved Rush as I did and upon discovery of that fact bonds were formed and great times were had. So, I appreciate you for putting this channel together Bro. Thank you for showing your love to the boys and for keeping their music alive and all of us fans informed. I hope you have a happy holiday season! ☮️ Stephen
Stephen, your story is a delight to read. For every event and location described in your note, I imagined each moment and was there with you. All of us, who have "lived" with Rush for decades, can relate and have our own experiences influenced by RUSH. Therefore, your story is relatable and important. I'm thrilled that you shared it with us. We have a lot in common, which isn't a surprise, given how Rush unites us. Rush was stuck in your head, even when you were waking up. Meanwhile, I literally played Moving Pictures & Permanent Waves on a loop while I slept, and I woke to it every morning. I grew up in New England, on the other coast of the United States. When I lived in New Hampshire and Vermont, our school field trips were to Montreal, Canada. I didn't appreciate how special it was at the time. But as an adult, it was a dream come true to fly into YYZ for business and to go to the building on the cover of Moving Pictures. I remember the excitement of going to buy new Rush albums. Several of those days I remember in vivid detail. In one video I told the story of meeting the best friend I've ever had, and the common language of Rush music united us. The songs and albums you mentioned are featured in a new trilogy that will soon be available. This series talks about how Rush music remains as relevant today, as when it was released. Thank you very much for your kind words. It means a lot that you're here and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
