I will zoom out a bit in the next video I know it is a bit close to my face hehe (learning how to use the camera in this vid) but GUYS!!!!! This episode was crazzzyyyyy! So many good moments. I'm totally hooked to this anime.
I like how they establish that demons are terrified of Himmel. Aura the Guillotine didn’t start rising to power again until 28 years ago….right when Himmel died. Not daring to step out of line while that man is breathing haha.
There's good evidence that Himmel was busy playing wack-a-mole with any monsters or demons that popped up right up until he died. Remember that he kept checking up on Qual.
Evan Call apparently was able to rescore the music to match the timing of the scenes it is matched to. He wanted it to operate as a narrator, and I think he was able to succeed in this.
Fun fact: 'Graf' is a title, rather than part of Graf Granat's name. It is German for 'Count' (roughly: German Nobility system is a lot more complicated than the more well-known English/British Nobility system). Infact historically there were several different types of 'Graf', with the title of Graf by itself being a fairly low one. Other titles included Landgraf, Burggraf, Markgraf (German equivalent of the title Marquis), Pfalzgraf, etc.
I knew names and locations were German when I first watched, but didn't know what they meant as my German is minimal and there were words I didn't know. After watching a German reactor, it was hilarious to see him break down the meaning of a lot of the words. He basically said they were ridiculous mostly because they are like nouns, adjectives and verbs, not something worth naming a person. We see these demons as evil, but the way they are presented in this world is as wild beasts and predators. The demon child in the flashback saw giving the village chief's daughter to the mother of the one she ate as transactional. It's just in their nature to be that way, it's not really evil or good. You seem to really be getting immersed now! While this is an series that I'd probably use to introduce someone to anime, I wonder how other shows would seem to them afterwards. A high bar has been set. Really looking forward to your reactions to the rest of this arc and the series as a whole!
I was thinking that too! Like imagine if we watched an anime in Japanese and they straight up named a character "Liar" like the enlgish word "Liar" it would sound so funny to us... we would be like "oh they're describing him, but what is his actual name?" hahhaha thank you for the words of encouragements... yeah...I have watched a lot of anime and this is definitely a beautifully and expertly crafted one... the storytelling is absolutely magnificent and so deep. I can totally see it becoming one of my favorites of all time and I will 1000% rewatch it multiple times because there is just SO much there. I even have rewatched the first few episodes again already hahaha
@@logansdomainthere is a German UA-camr, Storieswithstyle, who has an excellent video breaking down the names in the first 16 episodes. He strongly believes that the naming in Frieren gives a similar feeling to fairy tales, where you have characters like Red Riding Hood, Big Bad Wolf, and The Fairy Godmother.
I think when Frieren says Elves "lack romantic feelings and reproductive instincts" she doesn't mean that Elves don't feel that stuff *at all* - rather they don't feel it with the same "urgency" as humans. To a human, when they meet someone they love, they have to act on it immediately, form a couple, have a family, etc. But for Elves there's no rush. What does it matter if it takes centuries, or even millennia, to work out exactly what you're feeling and how you want to act on it, when you are so long-lived, you might as well be immortal?
Awww yes exactly! She can actually take time to figure out how she feels. That’s actually such a luxury compared to humankind… although we don’t know otherwise. Like you said, we almost have to act on it immediately! This story really makes you think and ponder life doesn’t it…

Ohhhh I didn't even put the 28 years ago thing together! Such a good point!!!! Wowww
16:00 'You can't lie and manipulate without speech'
This line is very amusing 😊
Except you can.

wowwwwww that makes SO much sense it TRULY is like the music is the narrator. I love this, thank you for sharing :)
Thank you for sharing 😊

Draht: I'm here to kill you.
Frieren: Nah, I'd win.
