You will find big chain gyms like Anytime Fitness, Jetts and Fitness First in bigger cities and lots of them. 24/7 gyms without staff is normal. Keep in mind the min wages per hr to staff a gym is about $25-30 so a lot arent staffed 24/7 its too expensive. American wages are a lot less. There are big boy gyms in cities like Melbourne and Sydney for absolute sure but there are also lots of local, well equipped, friendly and inclusive gyms in the suburbs everywhere in Oz. Gym is a big thing in the city in Australia 🇦🇺
5 Star Fitness Earlville shopping Centre can't rate highly enough We came up from Victoria vanlifing for winter last year paid the weekly fee (mainly for use of shower) however felt guilt ridden enough to do half an hour of cardio each day...we thought staff and facilities fantastic..give it a go...PS must go watch AFL footy Saturday afternoons at Cazalys
@@gregjameson327 nah different....AFL or Australian Rules Football, not as strong in Queensland and New South Wales but supported at Cazalys up there in Cairns..we used to go for 5 o clock drinks on a Tuesday and Thursday to watch them train..also if you get a membership to Cazalys they do a 3 course carvey lunch on a Sunday that's pretty reasonable
@@gregjameson327 “Footy” is many things - across the country it is used to refer to Aussie Rules (AFL), but in Queensland and New South Wales it is also often used to refer to Rugby League (NRL) - which is different from Rugby Union (Super Rugby), which is associated with the private schools and isn’t as popular as a spectator sport. Up in Cairns your local NRL team is the North Queensland Cowboys (their stadium is in Townsville) , and they don’t have an AFL team up there. In Queensland there are AFL teams down in the south east corner around Brisbane - the Brisbane Lions and the Gold Coast Suns. The state rugby union team is the Queensland Reds (and they sometimes play in Townsville too).
You need to get better with your money conversions. Its the same price. US is about 27 cents more. Of course you are not going to get the bigger gyms in Cairns like the US, it's Cairns. Its smaller. After everything we have been through its amazing to see there is still a gym. Also prefer outdoor workout than gyms. Or at home workouts than going to a gym. I prefer more natural.
I totally agree. I thought it might be the case that cairns just had more small gyms. I exercising outside too, I feel like it’s kinda rare to find a gym with a good outdoor section though.
Thanks Greg, i enjoyed your gym topic 😅 nsw

Cairns is a great place to live. Great choice on your visa. Some of the best weather in the country in our winter (Dry in Cairns) Enjoy
An Anytime Fitness membership can go with you worldwide (1,000’s of gyms). There are some “big” gym dudes in Sydney and Melbourne.
I figured it might just be the small town effect^

Is footy the same as rugby here or is it different?

Another vote for kuranda via sky rail
Carins is NOT remote but it certainly is different.....Cairns should not be experienced as a first stop and I wonder why you did that?
It is one of the areas in which working here will get my visa extended. That is the main reason
Any one who goes to a gym is nuts any way in my opinion.
Haha I used to feel same way about it when I started going
2.2 pounds is one kg
roughly, two pounds (2.2 pounds exactly) equals one kilogram. Just remember you;'re out in the STICKS mate..
Haha fair enough
I have never seen any scary, muscular dudes at my gym, which is a chain in a big city.
Yea maybe it is a more common in the US then! I seems less people work out in the gym and more exercise outside as well.
