    Hi from France:
Kanami uses for this song an H9 Harmonizer which gives this synth effect and this electro-aggressive atmosphere...
And plays the piano of the backing track.

Drove from Indiana for the Philadelphia show. I was expecting to be blessed with one of their instrumentals and was happy when it happened. It was a total surprise when they went straight into another one, and kind of made the whole concert even more special. (I don't know if Saiki needed a longer break or if Kanami et al just were in a mood.) They killed it, of course, but soon after this show Kanami was getting so exhausted they dropped 'From Now On' from the set list. It shows, not only how much this song can take out of the musicians, but how much effort and concentration Kanami puts into her playing. Every time I see other guitarists display their dexterity and technical skills, I have to measure them against Kanami and ask, "but how musical was it?" She is always a pleasure to listen to.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live five times with this MV quality in Japan and dropped my jaw five times 😲. I believe so did many of American audience in their 2022 & 2023 US tours. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄

Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they dropped their new album, Epic Narratives, Sept. 25. Order now!
The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!

They are about the only rock group on the planet that specifically does instrumentals and I love it !!!!! Without Holding Back is another great one, and the instrumental version of Giovanni. There have also been a couple of new ones in 2024 that I saw videos for. They are Toi et Moi and Spirit and they are stellar.

@@TomClark-Futoura Tom, their entire story is just amazing. The little Maid Band that could. It's hard to think of another group that has amassed such a large catalogue without a single mediocre tune. Even the songs that were written by others came out perfect by way of arrangement. Look at "The Non-Fiction Days". Kanami didn't write it, but the arrangement was pure Band Maid. And I can't think of another band that loves their fans like Band Maid does. Tequila Jimmy and La Gringa, happy Monday! Band-Maid has three of the best instrumentals I have ever heard. "Onset", Don't Be Long", and "From Now On" are EPIC. "From Now On" has seriously heavy rock sounds, "Onset" is an uplifting, fun instrumental that highlights each Maid's prowess. "Don't Be Long" is just a fun romp the Maids used by the band during one of Saiki's "pee breaks".
These Maid's can do anything in the genre from hard rocking instrumentals, to beautiful rock ballads, to acoustic sets that melt your heart. They honestly can do anything and do it with excellence.

      Rap and Hip-Hop - "Influencer"
      Pop - "Start Over"
Pop-Punk- recorded but non-written song only: "OO Parts"

All the different techniques and phrasings Kanami is throwing at us here is simply stunning and impressive. There are a lot great Shredders, but dang Kanami is and hits different. My source of inspiration to look on my guitar differently than before.
I strongly recommend the instrumental versions of the songs on Unseen World also. Kanami as composer genius shines like a diamond on this. Black Hole e.g. as instrumental is just brain melting.

The thing about it, is there's a melody to her playing and she is singing her song. I think a lot of people do not realize how much of a genius she really is. Here in the US the composing and songwriting is abysmal and it's gotten so bad that many of today's "artists", lol, are recycling hits from the 60's to the 80's. With Kanami we are looking at Mozart-quality compositions for the 21st Century. And when you add in Miku's lyricism, with Saiki's assistance, it's almost otherworldly.

Kanami's tone on this and Influencer has a very synthy sound. I think you're right about maybe a slight ring mod going on. As for her phrasing, I think she uses these odd (5- 7- 9-note) groupings, which could be a result of her study of Chopin in her youth, her favorite composer.

"It's different each time but it always sounds like Band-Maid". That is what you end up saying about a band which has achieved creating a genuine, authentic style of their own. Creating your own, unequivocably recognizable musical style is not a given, especially in music. it is even a rarity. And now, even if it was not enough said towards the uniqueness of this band, you need add to the Band-Maid recipe, a truly unique vocal signature, immediately recognizable among thousand of others, combining the delightflul mezzo voce of Saiki and the amazingly versatile backing vocals of Miku. A band like no others for ages.

There are a few other instrumentals out there, though only ONSET is on their YT channel. The others are DON'T BE LONG, WITHOUT HOLDING BACK and the DAWN WINERY THEME which can be searched easily enough on YT. Plus they have included bonus discs with blu-ray dvd's of instrumentals of various songs. PS 6:00 Kanami-sama has said that, during this period, she used an Eventide Harmonizer effects box and an Octave Drop box quite a lot to get that synth sound.

Great reaction guys !!!!!!!!! I'm an old guy and I remember back to when every rock band started a show or a set with an instrumental. I cut my teeth on groups like Don Wilson and The Ventures, The Rip Chords, The Tornados, The Chantays, Booker T. and the MG's, Santo and Johnny (with the timeless "Sleepwalk"), Dick Dale (with "Miserlou") and from England, The Shadows. In fact, The Ventures are extremely popular in Japan since their first trip back in the early 1960's. There are still Ventures tribute bands in Tokyo today.
Band Maid has not only brought back great classic rock back to life, but have also turned into the best presently at instrumentals. My first video of Band Maid was, believe it or not, was Onset, and I was entranced immediately by their technical prowess. A lot of people hear instrumental and they think of a band just going crazy without any structure. That is NOT the case with Band Maid. Kanami's compositions are technically perfect, and after Akane does the drum patterns and Misa adds her outstanding riffs, they are masterpieces. Now that you have reacted to From Now On, you need to line up Onset, Without Holding Back, Giovanni and two new ones, Toi et Moi and Spirit. The music world owes a huge debt to Band Maid.

Had no idea you hadn't done this one yet. Just kinda felt like you did. Huh. This is one of my "infection" songs. When I want to introduce someone to Band-Maid, but they are all "I can't understand Japanese", I send this one at em to shut them up. Get them interested to hear more.

My favorite BM instrumental, which is actually a song in the truest sense. Intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus; rinsed and repeated with typical atypical twists & turns as only Band-Maid can do. And of course, throw in an absolutely heart wrenching bridge by Misa, and a build to a crescendo of epic proportion, and you've got a truly nuclear track. First time I heard this, I knew this was gonna be extra special by the end of the intro; even before the opening riff to verse 1. Misa's descending 3-note crash was literally a punch to the gut in the most satisfying way. I can only compare it to being alone with your ultimate crush for the first time, when they shove you down on the bed prior to ravaging you in ways you've only dreamt of. FNO: 9.98. Onset: 9.96. My head, heart, and loins say, "Sorry...not sorry." This was a really fun watch, TJ & La Gringa...great reaction, as always.

Have to check out Giovanni -- both the Instrumental version and the studio version. The studio version is the one with vocals; Saiki-san and Miku-chan. But underneath all of that is one of the best instrumentation I have heard. The instrumental version shows that. Might as well do a two-for-one. :)

This is definitely a more aggressive Band-Maid and I just love it. A note about Misa’s bass tone. What I’ve always loved about it is that no matter how high on the fret board she goes it’s always meaty and thick sound.
I’ve seen comments about Onset and I highly agree it’s one to check out. The official live video from Zepp Tokyo is awesome.

If you like instrumentals don't forget their oldest one the oldest one 'Onset' LIVE, as well as 'Without Holding Back' . . . ua-cam.com/video/eEiE3ND7JEc/v-deo.html There's a story about Kanami knowing that Miku's skills were not up to the song she had just written. So, she wrote another song, one that would help Miku get her chops up to speed for the first song. It's just a guess, but I think this is that song, and that first song, the one that Miku wasn't ready for, was 'Without Holding Back'. An yes! Kanami has a pedal that makes her guitar sound like a MIDI song from a 16-Bit Video Game. I first noticed it in 'Influencer', but also a little in 'Shambles' and 'Show Them'.

if you consider this song to be "Deus Irae" by BAND-MAID, I think it might be best to experience many other songs like you two beforehand and learn about their history before coming to this song.
Anyway, it's very moving to see Kanami, who is usually modest, give it her all with the determination that "Sai-chan isn't here in this song, so I'll sing it all the way through."
This instrumental song is the biggest gap between their kawaii appearance and the quality of the song.
It's a song that truly epitomizes their diversity/versatility. If it suits Jimmy-san's taste, that's all the better.
(To reveal the secret of the guitar modulation, Kanami adds an octave higher with Eventide H9 Harmonizer.)
There are not many, but there are a few other high-firepower instrumental songs, so I hope you will enjoy them sometime😊

The snow & ice kept me from watching Band-Maid Monday at the coffee shop. I was forced to watch it at home but enjoyed every minute of it. Seeing you two headbanging made me want to join in, but a couple of traumatic back injuries tell me that doing so is not a wise idea.
FYI... Some of Band-Maids other great instrumentals are Onset, Without Holding Back, and Don't Be Long. They also did a few songs that actually have vocals but played them instrumentally in the "White Room". I was going to say the White Room style videos are like their very first video ever for Thrill, but looking through your playlist I don't think you have reacted to Thrill. Thrill is the video that put Band-Maid on the map and kept their management from dropping them. If you haven't seen it you will want to at some point. Saiki was still a baby when they filmed it. (LOL) I am exaggerating of course but she was like 19 or something to that nature and it shows.
