Winky, (Scotty Beckett), started his career as one of the Our Gang kids in the mid 1930's. He was fired from the Rocky Jones series after his arrest for carrying a concealed weapon and passing a bad check. Drinking, drugs and gambling got him into a lot more trouble, and he didn't do much in Hollywood after that. At 38 years old, he was found dead of an overdose in a nursing home. I think he was being teased about the name "Winky."
@@louisduarte8763 Sorry about that, Louis. How about this? Bobby (Robert Lyden), co-starred with John Wayne, Vera Miles, and Ward Bond, in a Screen Directors Playhouse production called Rookie of the Year in 1955. It was directed by John Ford. How many people can say they co-starred with Wayne in a production directed by Ford?
It's a shame that so few Captain Video episodes remain. They once had to make do with a child's stethoscope, and the actor playing the doctor had to suppress his laughter as he tried desperately to get the straps around his head.
@@louisduarte8763 It was. Rocky Jones. Space Ranger. Manhunt in Space and Crash of the Moons were feature length editions edited together from two part stories.
I actually loved the Rocky Jones series. So goofy, it was fun to watch. It was my great space adventure before Star Trek premiered. And made infinitely better by Joel and the Bots. Rocky (Richard Crane) also starred in The Alligator People, which MST never riffed and should have. It had Lon Chaney Jr as a one-armed Cajun with a hook, but Lon never tried to master a Cajun accent and kept forgetting how his fake hook should work. 😂😂
I love how the robots immediately hate every kid in the early episodes
But then they promptly earn the hate, right? "Gamera is friend to children!!"😋
It’s the Wesley Crusher effect.
They pretty much carried that through to the later episodes. 😂
It was nice of mom to iron those decals onto those t-shirts.
It's amazing how this early movie predicted how space travel was going to be...especially space capes and female astronauts
And T-shirt spacesuits for the guys.
And those airtight space helmets.
You don't a full-body, pressurized, air-tight spacesuit when you have a glass bowl on your head!

CL ...................thanks for the info.......was a O G fan !!!!!
Well, thanks for that downer. Makes it harder to laugh at these clips.

As a Doctor Who fan, it's quite nice to see that the Hartnell era didn't have the cheapest tv budget after all

This was a TV show?

'Stupid Car' 🎶 and 'Diver Dan'? Colour us blessed! :D
Eject Bobby overside. No one will miss him either.
The giant turtle Gamera would miss him. Gamera is a friend to all children.
2.4/10 on IMDB. Not a feature film, but several episodes of the TV series Rocky Jones, Space Ranger (1954) edited together and released as a feature.
Did anyone really think back then that loosely draping a bucket over your head was enough to protect them from the vacuum of space?
Those dang Earthlings!
"One day, all of you _space losers will be woking for ME, and I mean it!_ "
2:53 I swear this guy is somehow channeling Phil Hartman
Wow Rosemary Clooney in space...come on over a my ship, I'll give you radiation! 🎵🎶🎙🎼
3:38 - Unusually unsubtle for _MST3k._ It caught me so off guard that I lost it.
Anyone else here old enough to remember Diver Dan? Baron Barracuda used to scare the crap out of me.
I remember. One of the few TV shows in color at the time.
@@iasimov5960 We didn't have a color TV back then. Also, the few episodes here on UA-cam are in black and white.
Hold on Winky
"I have no idea what I'm saying, over."
Vena is soooo perky.
Joel has to keep the robots clean
He could be a bit of a wet blanket sometimes - unless it was all part of the act.
Winky
I want a turtle neck T-shirt.
Take a turtleneck sweater and just cut off the long sleeves and hem. 👕
Wonder why the woman has a cape, it's so odd.
Capes are cool.
