Say Yes To The Dress has become a haven for me to be kind to those buying one of the most expensive and important garments in a woman's life, their wedding dress. But in reality, Say Yes To The Dress Bridesmaids allows me to absolutely DESTROY THESE UGLY GROSS SAD DRESSES, which is usually mandatory for the bridal party. I understand a bride doesn't want to be overshadowed on her big day, but she shouldn't be given the option to make her bridesmaids look like clowns. But luckily, our brides on today's video made some pretty decent choices, but they wouldn't be mine.

@@5slistenup.a10isspeaking2It looks slightly like a fake, minimalistic take on ,"Boro" imo. The cut looks a lot like the zero waste shirt patterns. Literally just rectangles so you use all of the fabric. If you sew it would be relatively easy. Zoe Hong has some vids on Boro if you're interested.

Seriously getting married young is a really common thing in the south. I can’t tell you how many weddings I’ve been to that were dry, not for religious reasons, but because the bride and groom weren’t old enough to drink 😂

@@anastasiao4036 the part of Ireland I'm from is the same. Its not like its a hard cut rule but in certain circles it would definitely be scandalous if you were to be sexually active before marriage. I think about 5 or 6 people I went to high school with are married now, and I'm 22. Another dozen or so are engaged. My best friend is getting married soon and had previous partners but her fiancé didn't, which raised eyebrows with some folks. Its so silly, but here we are 🙄 thankfully your country and mine have a decent variation in attitudes so its not like everyone is judgy.
FYI luke - when you're trying on a bridesmaid dress, you're just trying on to choose the style. then for your actual wedding they order the dresses in the color you've requested. so like the bride says she wants navy and the consultant will only pull dresses that come in navy, regardless of what color they have in store and the girls actually try on.

I don't even think the bride was mean, when you sign up to be bridesmaid you need to be open and they were being kinda difficult. Seems like she's just found some other slightly-less mean girls haha.

When I got married I told my bridesmaids the budget (I paid) and the colour/s, they knew the venue and the kinda vibe - then they just talked amongst themselves and picked something. I could have vetoed the choice if I wanted but didn’t need to. I wanted them to look good. Give people a clear brief and you’re fine! Marriage didn’t last but friendships stronger than ever.

As someone who lives in the south, they can do long dresses. I know that at the time this show was filmed short dresses were more popular, but there just aren’t many cute short dresses. I personally REALLY don’t like them.
I always hated how this show would find issues and really exacerbate them. The bride said she wanted long dresses, so they should try on long dresses. I always hated watching the sales associates get in the bridesmaids’ ears like “but do you WANT a long dress or do you want a SHORT dresssssssssss?” I know that it’s all for tv but YIKES.

Champagne is such a difficult color to fit for all skin types. It can show too yellow or wash someone out completely. Jewel tones always seem to look great on any skin type.
My mom has this super ugly bridesmaid dress from the 80s that is hot pink. It was shoved into the back of the closet and didn’t¡t make a reappearance until I used it in a Halloween costume.

I had an October wedding, and I used Autumn colors as my inspiration. I gave my bridesmaids a selection of colors that fit my theme, and showed them the fabric I liked (a beautiful Duchess satin) and let them chose their own style of dress. My only request was that no one wear the same color, thankfully since all my bridesmaids has very different skin tones and coloring, no one even wanted to wear the same color. Sixteen years after my wedding, and my bridesmaids still tell me that I had be best bridesmaid dresses of our friend group.

I had to wear the vagina dress for a wedding and I saw it, but I kept my mouth shut. It was in a light pink color :O It was actually much more noticeable when trying on than when they were properly altered and fitted.
11:44 the colour is usually not the point in the bridesmaids edition of SYTTD. They just try on sample dresses in the colour they have in the store, but they usually come in multiple colours. So when the bride says 'I want navy blue', they let the bridesmaids try on dresses that come in navy blue, but they don't always have that shade at hand. The girls then try on the sample dresses for the fit, and the consultant shows the colour it comes in by pulling a different dress in that colour.

That one tall, slim blond bridesmaid made all the dresses look good - I could see her wearing hers again. The pink looked terrible on the second girl, great on the first.
They said at the beginning, the dresses will all be champagne or ivory. The pink is just to try on for the style. It's a sample dress that also comes in champagne but they don't stock every dress in every color and every size in the shop.

I was married at 21, but my husband and I had been together since our sophomore year of high school and lived together for over two years before we tied the knot. Honestly, I can see why a lot of people don't like being married young, but for me, it's been a wholly positive experience.

To clear up also any potential confusion, the reason why the bridesmaids modeling the dresses aren't wearing the color the bride ask for is because those are sample dresses. Once the style is chosen, the color and sizes are then ordered. It took me a few episodes to realize that
They don't have every dress in all the available colours. They try on the dress and if they like it they will order it in the colour that they want for the wedding. There are probably samples of the different colours and fabrics from every designer.

As a bridesmaid, I honestly couldn't care Less what I wear, I just want the bride to tell me what They want, and to be happy. In my case, for my wedding I just gave my bridemaids a colour to aim for (dark teal ie green/blue), and to be not full length and not strapless. Tbh once even ended up in a full length and it didn't matter At all. All my grooms where mismatched too (how hard is it to wear a white shirt and black pants? 😅) but honestly I was so excited and nervous that I didn't even notice 😋

At the very end, the champagne, the pale periwinkle, and the navy all looked so nice together color-wise. I was getting an ombre kind of progression with the colors next to each other, and while I never thought of that for a wedding before, I kind of like the idea. (I know that's not what they're going for, it just looks nice in the last frame. Maybe it's my monitor!)

I did a really laid back backyard wedding because we didn’t have a whole lot of people to really invite so a venue wouldn’t make sense, and the rona so yeah but I let my bridesmaids wear whatever they want with a purple theme. They ended up wearing purple sun dresses of their choice, and the guys were black shorts, and pastel purple tuxedo shirts

My girls picked their own. It was a second marriage and I was wearing champagne so all I asked for was ‘black please’ as they all could pull black off. They chose a beautiful design. Long length with a grecian fall beneath their breasts with the option of about 5 different strap designs or they could take them off for strapless. They all looked gorgeous and have all worn them again for other black tie occasions. No way did I want them to wear ugly dresses. I love them all too much for that.

A few years back I had done the makeup of a bridal party for a wedding that happened to have two grooms. All of the girls had different dresses (which were different shades of purple too), they wanted different makeup, and different hair. They did not look like a cohesive set of bridesmaids at the end. Also it was very stressful having to do 6 completely different makeup looks. Never freelancing again.
