YOU SIR ARE A LIFE SAVER!!! I have a similar body type and recently I came across your YT channel that helped me make tremendous improvements on my style. Not only have I gotten better at picking the right sizes and shades of clothing but I also gained a lot of body confidence. Thank you for all your Styling insights for shorter men, your efforts are bringing changes to the world!
Too bad i live in a tropical country that is pretty much summer temperature year round. I never get to enjoy layering my clothing since i would get a heat stroke if i wore more than one layer.
Overcoats = knee length for me for proper warmth to do their job. Windchill this morning was -15c so used my 23 year old puffer. Good video hitting the nail on the head
I got A double breasted overcoat A single breasted light overcoat A single breasted Trenchcoat Two double breasted Trenchcoats A waxed cotton jacket A puffer jacket A leather jacket A skiing winter jacket A wool sport coat Three single breasted black suit jackets A double breasted suit jacket A beige suit jacket A morning coat A double breasted tuxedo jacket Probably forgot something.
Great video, as always. Additional Tipp: we (“get the most bank for buck community”) sometimes try to max out the functionality part of clothing too much. We want the warmes jacket, the most undestroyable boot. But you don’t need an arctic expedition or Mount Everest proof jacket if you live somewhere where it snows a couple of times a year! Diminishing returns are real and you can achieve 80% of the result with 20% of the effort/price.
I sensed a bit of frustration and disgust in the entire vide. I feel you've just had enough of people trying to over complicate this despite it been super easy. Great video mate.
Ive always recommended building a functional wardrobe with signature pieces. I may have a $9 tee shirt from target, 30 lee’s jeans from kohls and some vision court nikes but my MadMen edition Top Coat has survived for 8 years now cause of the investment.
Besides sweaters 1- brown leather jacket 2- black leather jacket 3- navy pea coat 4- grey over coat 5- brown parka 6- black parka 7- black shell jacket 8- brown rain jacket 9- beige mac jacket 10- denim jacket
I thought I was done with coats - I have 3 dressy coats and 2 casual coats. And a 6th coat that I will never wear (I think it's a north face jacket, actually) because it was a gift and not my style Anywho, it turns out I grew out of black coats. I like that jacket at 7:07 and will probably pick one or two up the next time I'm able to go shopping. Since coats don't usually come cheap this is something to consider if it is your first or second - have different colored coats and jackets so that you don't end up looking the same every single day Still haven't figured out what to wear in the fall though. I dislike just about every single coat and jacket that is appropriate for rainy weather. AHHHH
Nice collection! Maybe you could add a trench coat and do a review on that in the future? Trench coats are a classic and a must have in any man's wardrobe. I like the look and the military style details.
I have extremely warm and long parka from Didricksen. It has lambs wool lining and a collar that covers half of my face when fully zipped. It gets really cold in Finland.
I want to say my experience being a minimalist for 1 year IT IS AWFULLY BORING AFTER SOMEPOINT! I have heard that many youtubers tell it is like a uniform. It saves time...Its TRUE! But, but... That little time is really not worth it. It ain't much! So my opinion is, JUST BUY AS MANY CLOTHES AS YOU LIKE AND WEAR EM'. Enjoy! :) Don't be weighed down by MINIMALISM

Hi. I really love your top coat but I cant find it in your link. Can you send me the brand or the exact link? I did already have your beckett simonon boot. Thanks
I liked this brock. You were really funny when you were describing the lifestyle. Volvo station wagon, going to lacrosse, with Landon. A little accurate, was that you?
Bit of an off topic question. What do you think of the outdoor enthusiast style that is becoming more popular these days? The button ups, fitted out wear, fitted pants like the pieces included in the avid adventurer styling.
Hey, great video. What jacket are you wearing in the video presentation? The navy blue one with the collar. Im looking everywhere but can't find that style. Please let me know!
Brock, can you recommend any topcoats/overcoats (model or brand) that fit men at the 5'6" height off the rack? Do you tend to get these jackets tailored in any way, shape or form?
Being 5.1 I feel restricted to jackets rather than coats. Always wanted to try a topcoat, but anything even fitted feels to long past the jacket waist line. I have these smart bomber jackets, material wise feels more and looks more like short blazers. Perfect for out out. my favourite everyday wear is leather jackets only bomber or racer (slim and not too box shape). I tried the biker jacket but it all ways looks over kill on me. I think in the uk we are a little bit more lucky as xxs is a thing. A good cheat for longer jackets is hoodie under it, for causal not smart. :-)
I need some criticism for my outerwear collection: Winter 1 Down Parka 1 Wool Coat 1 N1 Deck Jacket Fall/Spring 1 Duck Canvas Coat 1 Dressy Raincoat 1 Denim Jacket 1 Corduroy Jacket Summer 1 Linen Field Coat 1 Linen Car Coat 1 Cotton Ripstop Bomber Outdoors 1 Ski Jacket 1 Camo Coat 1 Down jacket I have a feeling it's way too many. Which ones should I eliminate?
Enjoy both Brock's video and blog post. Topcoat from mainstream brands still are too long for modest men. Brock, could you do a video/post for 2021 about choices of topcoat for short men? I only find Peter manning topcoat can fit short men, and some car coat from Bonobos fit short men pretty well (car coat tend to have shorter length, so much less cost for alternation). Cheer to your style
Thoroughly enjoyed this, Brock. I just moved back to South Florida from the living in the DC area for over a year and realized that I've accumulated a bit of outerwear that may not suit for sub tropical climates. Should I condense the outerwear pieces or hold onto them? I have about eight pieces altogether ranging from fleece liners to a down jacket.
Brock, what do you think of maroon color? I really like that color but still get confused how to match it in my daily outfit. I see that you rarely talk about this color. Would you please give me some insights?
Hey Brock, I've been using Geologie for the past month and I like the result but I feel like they need to include an exfoliator, btw my coat closet is exploding lol
I'm a dumb bitch in Southern California and have 2 peacoats and 8 parkas, 4 sherpa jackets, 2 trench jackets, a sherpa denim trucker, a faux fur corduroy trucker, 6 shells and so many sweaters on top of all that. I have a problem!
If my slim fit shirt size is between 18-20 inches pit-to-pit, how much do you recommend sizing up measurement-wise for something like a peacoat or car coat that I intend to layer with? I'm thinking at least 21 inches, but maybe as much as 23 inches? How do yours compare?
Love the minimalist selections!!! The parka is something I can use, especially with Minnesota's below freezing temperatures!?! Do you have any recommendations for parkas? Thank you so very much, super Mr. Brock!!!!! :D
Hi, Brock. I usually wear a XS in shirts, t-shirts etc and am 5'6, 128lbs. For outerwear, like the topcoat & peacoat, would you recommend to go XS, or size up to a S for layering purposes?
When talking about fashion in general, it helps to be slender. I’m a big boy who enjoys fashion and the latest trends, but it doesn’t seem like the industry was meant for big boys and girls.
I'm not trying to be offensive, but try to lose weight. I was also fat 2 years ago, but I've lost over 70 pounds, now I'm in a healthy weight. There is no need to starve yourself, just eat a little less, cut back on your sugar and alcohol intake, that will probably be enough. Also workout if you can, being muscular is also a very nice trait.
My outerwear collection: 1. Oversized black zip up hoodie 2. Athletic black zip up hoodie 3. Gray zip up hoodie 4. Navy zip up hoodie 5. Anime vibe waterproof parka w hood I got a Porter Robinson music festival. Yea I think I found the right video. Zip up hoodies are pretty versatile tho, can wear it in 90f weather or freezing, just as long as it doesn't rain too hard.
Dude if you live in the real southern California you don't need a jacket till November. There's no spring and summer or fall and winter it's just summer 80 percent of the year and 20 percent winter.
I feel called out by your New York comment. Because that is my style. I describe my style as, when you work in downtown Manhattan in the morning but have to visit the homies in the south Bronx by the evening.
I LOVE the look of a double breasted peacoat, or a nice car coat…but no matter what fabric, color, cut, etc. every time i throw one on, I look like absolute crap. :(

Outerwear is kind of my weak spot in terms of minimalistic lifestyle. I see myself in each category you mentioned and own about 15 pieces 😅
Too bad i live in a tropical country that is pretty much summer temperature year round. I never get to enjoy layering my clothing since i would get a heat stroke if i wore more than one layer.
Where is that?
You get to wear the greatest piece of outer wear: the aloha shirt
I suggest moving lol
@@milekrizman probably anywhere near the equator
I envy people that don't have to layer lol

Hey! Been watching your videos for the past 2 years and realized I never dropped a comment. Love your content dude and keep up the good work!
This video was epic! Fellow east coaster here. More vids like this! Very informative. This was so well executed as well. Thank you sir
The question was how to upgrade wardrobe and bad things when newbies try in wardrobe, thanks bro to ur videos, I aced the answers
very great content, I respect your honesty nobody is perfect.
Holy shmokies I dig your videos but I've never seen such long ad reads. Thank you for the time stamps

The avid adventurer part is awesome, spot on haha
Where did you bought your topcoat?
Banana Republic, but it's many years old (they don't make it anymore).
Great!!!!!! I love that overcoat that you show with the zipper where did u bought it I want it
It’s from Banana Republic but like 10 years old!
Hey mate, whats the grey shirt you are wearing at 7:05 ? Thanks!
8:30 shoot, I didn't know this is a comedy channel. :D
But keep going. I like it.

Hello there!
My request to you is about the socks types & which ones could go with what wear types?
Haha that was not me, but I knew the type from high school. I was in the jazz band, wore baggy jeans and skipped class regularly 😏
Bit of an off topic question. What do you think of the outdoor enthusiast style that is becoming more popular these days? The button ups, fitted out wear, fitted pants like the pieces included in the avid adventurer styling.
What brand/model parka is that? 5:30 Looking for a new style.
Hey, great video. What jacket are you wearing in the video presentation? The navy blue one with the collar. Im looking everywhere but can't find that style. Please let me know!
Love my peacoat. So versatile
Brock, can you recommend any topcoats/overcoats (model or brand) that fit men at the 5'6" height off the rack? Do you tend to get these jackets tailored in any way, shape or form?
Hmm, I'm tall and thin... wondering if I can pull off wearing a long pea trench coat. Never worn anything of that style.
Being 5.1 I feel restricted to jackets rather than coats. Always wanted to try a topcoat, but anything even fitted feels to long past the jacket waist line. I’d probably pack them away in a storage bin just in case you move or travel. I like the plastic under-the-bed containers for clothing storage 👌🏼
Thank you! Can you do an update on current chinos? There are so many new brands and fabrics now, I can’t keep up
Brock, what do you think of maroon color? I really like that color but still get confused how to match it in my daily outfit. I see that you rarely talk about this color. Would you please give me some insights?
Hi Brock, where is the jacket you're wearing in the far right of the thumbnail from?
almost time for a pompadour episode....work that do man!!! (seriously, you got the locks...)
Hey Brock, I've been using Geologie for the past month and I like the result but I feel like they need to include an exfoliator, btw my coat closet is exploding lol

Carhartt has a fantastic Parka, tho its a little pricey. 250? I think... but cant beat the warmth/quality and price.
