      Which would explain why it was thrown in with the rest of the inventory. It was likely not intended to be sold, and it was just Frankensteind together once Colt went out of business.

I would have walked and split the price at a an auction house like Christie's and made far more probably. More work but also much more pay off. If I have to put in a few weeks work for 10k more money minimum it is still steal.

      Selling it this way is quick money. Auctions don't guarantee you'll get what you want and you have to pay them something like 30% of what you get.

    Pro tip when going to a pawn shop: Always say the base price 2x more than what you originally thought.

      come to Europe or Asia for an open market and practice
      when you sell you ask for at least a 5X higher price, and the buyer will offer you a maximum of 10% of the real price.
      these are the starting positions
      and then you mention your family and 35 children that you have to feed and cry,
      and through that show you try to extort as much money as possible

    Amazing!!! I think if this gentleman would have gone to Auction he would have been blown out of the saddle I believe he could have gotten much more for this rare colt Paterson. This belongs in Museum for all to enjoy Preferably the Cody my museum, with that being said I love black powder firearms and this was just stone cold cool.

    I"m glad in later episodes they decided to have Chumlee clean up his act a bit more. Since this episode, he's lost weight, has better hair and speaks way more intelligently. It was fun to have him as the comic relief but I appreciate the way he presents himself in recent episodes a lot better.

    I would've kept it, that is a rare piece of history. I was doing coin collecting for awhile and a co-worker was selling a $20 bill gold certificate in prestine condition. I bought it and still have it, I turned down an offer from someone else that was low. It's good to have and keep something of historical value.

      @@EGarrett01 Yeah, I agree that it can get boring just looking at it but every now and then I would have someone look at it and start a conversation about it. Having the Buffalo Bill revolver would've been nice to have, that conversation would lead to that abandoned rifle that was found in The Great Basin National Park forest out in Nevada during the 1800's and this rifle was found recently standing against a tree for over 100 years.

      @@aviationlba747 - and they will not usually assume any risk. They want the item verified as to what is and value before they will touch it.
      Pawn shops are willing to assume some risk in exchange for getting it for a lot less than it is worth.
      If you are not sure that it is not a fake and if the pawn shop cant find anyone right away to verify it, they will still buy it and take the chance that it is fake.
      Also, if it needs repairs pawn shops will do the repair then sell it. Auction houses wont.

    One of the few times you see an item appraise higher than the seller is asking. I've noticed the pawn stars guys generally offer half of the value unless it is a very high value item..

      The rule of thumb is that they offer 10% less than half the value on everything. Then negotiate up in small increments. That's true for every offer they make ... unless it's something that Rick wants for himself. At Cajun Pawn Stars, they offer 1/3rd the value right off the top.

    Just amazing having a rare piece like that, some of those people bring in really rare awesome stuff. I've seen people bring in original equipment from Houdini, first edition books that were extremely rare, diving suit apparatuses, so many different collectibles. I even saw one episode of someone who brought in a rare military patch of native american special forces.
