Crazy how good dying light actually is, its 2020 and I am having a hell of a time replaying it.
Me too. One of the best games out there.
True I got it in November and fuck me its incredible joes is right about the Campaign and Last boss but its easily an 8/10 The Following is a 9.5/10 for me though Because it has a good Story actual good Driving and a good last boss. I had never seen a review and I was actually angry at that moronic last boss what an awful idea.
@@pablopablo3834 I bought it like 1.5 years ago, and only got around to playing it around 2 months ago. I thought the story was fine. The final Boss fight was lackluster with the "push button now" BS, but overall I liked the story. The parkour can be a bit buggy at times, the world may not be climbable despite that it should, and Nightmare mode was WAY TOO FUCKING EASY!
The grapling hook is a hella crutch, and weapon mods were never a got to. The following is pretty good. Story so far to me is sounding like Dead Island, and that was a wacky story.

Hell yeah! This is an amazing zombie game that's actually scary and fun as hell in co-op.
Regarding the dream sequence, I always thought it was the process of becoming a zombie. Basically, the view a zombie has, at least in the early stages of turning. They see the world differently, stuff from their memories pop up and they think they are protecting themself but instead, they are the monsters. That's why Crane was choking Jade during the sequence and stopped right after she injected him.
Jade was the best character and she's gone :(((

This just makes me wish Crane had another dream sequence in the final mission considering the infection was starting to take ahold of him at the beginning of the mission so that Rais could have had an actual boss fight with all the hallucinations

Funny part night time only last 5 mins. But even before I realized it felt so much longer then daytime. Also your really not forced to be out at night. For the exception a very few missions.. plus the map is littered with safe zones

This game has matured like fine wine. I find myself returning to this game every few months.
The "story" is meh, but the "atmosphere" the "plot" is amazing, then the mechanics and gameplay is the BEST zombie game we currently still have, years later.
The mechanics in this game literally suck giant dick. Weapons going to shit after a few hits? Yeah, really great. It's just a copy-paste from their previous title Dead Island which also sucked. People who like this kind of games are as mindless as zombies in those shitty titles.

I feel like the only person that's fucking sick of zombie bullshit. Everywhere you look, zombies! Tv zombies, movie zombies, video game zombies. All people have to do is paste a zombie into it and it sells like hot cakes. Why? Seriously, why? Why are zombies so fucking popular? I've never understood it, they aren't very scary anymore. The zombie apocalypse is the most overused plot of all time. Second only to the government is secretly bad. And on numerous occasions they are blended together. It's a sad day for gaming when nearly all we have to look forward to is another military shooter and abother zombie apocalypse.

Shady Steps He has a point. The Zombie Apocalypse genre is so oversaturated these days. God knows a significant portion of the shitty Steam Greenlight/Early Access games are zombie shoot-em-ups or knockoffs of that DayZ mod for Arma 3.
I think it's just a fantasy people like to get lost in. Personally I haven't really done the zombie thing much.. the last one I played was the original Dead Island for like less than 5 hours.. hated it. The buggy fucking mess that it was.
Glad to see Dying Light out though, it really felt so fresh to me.. but then again I've not played much zombie games of late. Didn't really get into the Deadrising craze either, I find the game boring.
Gaming does have some zombie games, but nothing too much. Movies are definitely not crowded with zombies. Name me a mainstream zombie movie that came out last year. You can't.

This is probably because the game is surprisingly still getting constant updates and had a giant expansion which I think fixed dune of Joe's gripes which weren't unfounded in any way. This game was just so much fun to fuck around in with friends and level up

I want a zombie survival game that has
1) huge modern city maps with usable buildings that spans from downtown to the suburbs and out into the country/forest.
2) Total free roam mode.
3) Fully customizable characters, and tons of gear to pick up and upgrade and customize.
4) wide range of weapons and customization and upgrades.
5) vehicles that don't break the game. (the aren't usable everywhere, needs fuel, attracts zombies.)
6) day/night cycle and weather.
7) random npcs to meet in the wild that can give you quests, be hostile, ignore you, give advice, or be recruited, etc.
8) Be able to build a base almost anywhere and customize it and upgrade it. Maybe turn a house into my base or make the penthouse in a skyscraper my base.
9) Co-op and op-in pvp.
10) 1st and 3rd person view.
11) A combat system like Dying Light/Dead Island and have takedowns like Dishonored/Far Cry where you go into an animation.
12) unique gameplay elements like using dead zombie guts to gain temporary invisibility from zombies, or setting up a security system for your base that with the camera feed viewable from inside your base, unique crafting system, message system like Dark Souls, and be able to invade peoples worlds as a special zombie.
13) weekly and daily events that give special rewards.
14) real horror moments and crazy awesome moments.
15) procedurally generated content like items in houses or certain areas change each time you go there, or "dungeons" that are unique areas that you have to get through to gain rewards.
I don't know why I made this list. I just had some ideas. Maybe a developer will see this and make this zombie game.

The Last of Us was the last interesting and overall incredible Zombie game. The story was fantastic, the gameplay the great, the characters, the environments, the challenge, EVERYTHING was great. Plus the Cordyceps are way cooler than zombies, and make a bit more sense.
When was The Last of Us originally released?
HAHAHAHA. Gameplay was absolutely terrible. The story and atmosphere barely made up for it. And eve then, they gave you slight change on the standard ending. If anything, it was the most overrated game of all time.

I don't really see The Last of Us as a "Zombie game" anyway. Zombies are simply involved in the stories, it's not just about twatting them over the head in increasingly violent ways.

I watched this review at launch, even after I bought the game. This is one of the most underrated game I’ve seen in recent years and I love that the seque lis getting lots of attention.
This game is amazing. I’ve played through it three times, and now on my fourth play through, it’s my first time playing with a full squad. It is so much better and it’s almost like a new game. Plus they’ve added so much since this was released. I can’t wait for part two.

As someone who is sick of the zombie genre I can honestly say Dying Light adds a fresh new perspective to it. Its a fantastic game. One of the most re-playable and fluid games ive ever played, topped off with a true horror element that adds a spice to it. Its fantastic.
I somewhat agree, but this was review was soon after it launched, we've gotten free content and dlc since then so the game has vastly improved I played it day 1 and still go back to beat like every 6-7 months since then, it's constantly improving haven't played the paid dlc yet though.

You might be right. I guess Joe thought that the story is so poorly written and predictable that it's impossible to spoil it, since you can already tell what's going to happen anyway. But don't worry, he didn't spoil the best(worst) part, so you still have the suprise ready for ya. "Have fun."

Shit man it's crazy to see people still commenting on these old vids but yea man it's a great game, I put a lot of hours in myself completed game and following twice and grinded a quite high legendary level, it's a really good game, I might have to reinstall again from the library and give it another bash

I don't think it was harsh at all, if this game was a brand new addition to the zombie game genre it would be maybe an 8/10 but it's not, it's been done before with Dead Island, this game is pretty much Dead Island with parkour111!!1 lmao I think 6/10 was to nice Tbh, I think at best it deserved a 5 since there's just nothing original about it, it's incredibly repetitive if you've played dead island in the past, at least it was for me and my gaming friends.

TheCo-Operators There are enough good WW2 games out there that make it a more interesting concept than "oh look, another infinite horde of zombies/infected that I need to fight through to reach my destination". The entire Wolfenstein series, Sniper Elite 3, Battlefield 1942, Red Orchestra 2 are all great WW2 games. Hell, games set in the Cold War can prove to be like 100x better than the majority of zombie games, Metal Gear Solid 3 for example.

I just bought the 5 year anniversary edition. It has all the dlc and preorder bonuses. A HUGE game for only 14 dollars in Xbox marketplace. Hadn't played this game before and wanted to see if I would like it since DL2 is out now.
This game is amazing. A few things fall short but I can overlook those. Such a great game.

I just recently beat the game and, well, the final boss fight may have been an absolute joke, the journey to the end was what kept me going throughout my adventure. I didn't care much for the story but the gameplay was what truly kept me invested, especially when I maxed out of my skill trees and unlocked the Legend skill tree. However, by the time I finished, there wasn't much reason to go back to play more. Maybe someday I'll fire it back up and try the DLC when I'm not so zombied out.

He says the Damsel in the distress trope is annoying, but I find the woman beating up a group of guys far stronger then her or i'm a strong woman because feminist fantasies far more annoying as tropes, at least the damsel in distress trope is more realistic.
The whole i'm a woman with less muscle mass and strength but i'm still as strong as a man is both far unrealistic and annoyingly forced to appease modern insecurity nonsense.
Yes cause a world champion kickboxer wouldn't have the technique or the ability to make her assailants less effective even though they're supposedly stronger.

This was actually the first zombie game i've played other than L4D2, which isnt really a story based game, so from my point of view the story in the Dying Light is actually really solid, and with "The Following" expansion the game is definitely worth a try

Totally disagree with you this time. Dying Light is easily the best zombie game I’ve played. I think it is at least an 8/10.
I did the get the Following Edition tho, so it has more content and better graphics.....

@@thebigzan this was when zombies weren't different and all similar. At launch DL was bad, but over time became the best Zombies games. If you look at this review based on the current DL game version then off course it looks bad
This game is actually amazing and still one of my favorite games with good customizable loot, mods and skills available but not required, plenty of missions and coop and pvp available too

he has a much better score system and one I agree with. 8/10 is standard fare to big company's like ign when it shouldn't be! people have become used to that score and see 6/10 as a bad game when joe is in fact saying it's above average. an 8/10 would get a badass seal of approval and be very good, 9/10 would be an amzing game go and buy this right now and 1010 only reserved for the best games ever made

Something that Joe has forgotten is that zombie games are AWESOME. That's why we play them so much.
The Last of Us is a rare masterpiece, it has the best experience a game has ever given me (personal opinion). Unless another zombie game can be innovative or have a gripping story, it's going to be mediocre.

jaydude311 It might be more than a zombie game, but my point was that the main enemies you encounter are reanimated corpses, even though there are real humans in the game. You could say the same thing about The Last Of Us; focused on the zombies, but with human enemies as well. My point is that zombie games can still feel fresh, when Joe made it look like the zombie genre was simply oversaturated.

The only thing I hated about this game is when you had that bottle of antizin from the antizin crate and burned it all but you took 1 vile from it, that part was extremely dumb and served no purpose, (at least in the story line, I didn't do side quests) especially when there was a time it could of served a purpose, remember when you and Jade were trapped with Virals and Rais gave you a injection thing with a antizin bottle in it? YOU COULD'VE SAVED BOTH YOU AND JADE WITH THAT EXTRA ANTIZIN YOU HAD. They just killed of a character that could've served more purpose in the game.

Recently got the platinum edition in ps4 & man I regret not getting this day one. This game is fun.
got it for £15, 2nd playthrough and having an absolute blast. atmosphere is amazing.
At least your character is fucking susceptible to the virus instead of being all out immune.

Came back to 1 after years of not playing it. It's crazy how much better it is than the 2nd.
This game is good little does Joe know that 6 years later millions of players are waiting for dying light 2 to release in a couple weeks

+Kyle Crane Oh yeah, the game where you run around in circles pressing square when one gets in your way unless it's a clicker, in which case you get a follower to hold it still while you bash it in the head with a brick because apparently a little girl is stronger than a grown man.
Yeah no, TLoU was about as generic as you could get. Basic, tacked-on crafting system? Check. Stealth mechanics that only really work well to kill things slightly easier? Check. Hordes of human enemies and zombies that get increasingly uninteresting once you realize that you could replace the fungus with a virus and nothing would change? Check and check.
How about unique takes like puzzles? Uhh... unless you count "move obvious board or ladder to obvious place" as a puzzle, not really. Well, what about unique ways to fight? You've got generic semiauto pistol, generic revolver, generic shotgun, generic etc., and generic melee weapons that break in a few swings. Oh, and bricks and bottles. Well, fine, but at least it has a realistic and immersive atmosphere, right? After stealth strangling thirty armed dudes in a row (as a guy who gets instantly overpowered by clickers) with Ellie running out in front of them all the time without them noticing and not even finding so much as a bullet to their name on most of them, despite them all carrying guns that are very much loaded whenever they use them on me, I'd say no. Well fine, so what does TLoU have?
... The cutscenes are nice. 10/10 best game ever
+RhyXion I'm not saying The Last of Us sucks, lots of people like it for... some reason. So it has that going for it. But unless you can give me solid counterarguments to all of my points, I WILL say that it has way more flaws than most people recognize.
And personally, the most dread I've felt in TLoU was just being in a bad spot with the thought "Oh no, the last checkpoint was 15 minutes ago..." and not wanting to play that 15 minutes over again because of how basic and mundane the gameplay was. And that one time I got stuck in a glitched loop where I died from nothing in the generator room every time I tried starting it. Zombie grabbed me when I tried to start it, but Joel was struggling with air and it wouldn't let me push the zombie off because it wasn't even on me, so Joel would just fall over dead every single time. Eventually I had to waste valuable resources making a nail bomb to kill the zombie before it could grab me just because the glitch literally wouldn't let me progress.
Really didn't feel like playing everything up until that point all over again just to maybe escape the glitch...
Edit: Oh, and that other time when I was in the middle of a stealth section and the game just suddenly cut to black and loaded me at the last checkpoint. That was fun. Only thing I can think of to make that happen is Ellie falling through the ground and dying or something.

I love joes reviews but cannot agree here. Joe didnt pay a lot of attention to some things in the game. Also in the clips he shows joe seems really underleveled. Some of his negative points can be argued. But i am happy he gave the game praise to
