Beautiful hike ,but the best for me are the views to Mount Shasta, my alltime favourite mountain . Thank you for showing and greetings from Germany

Way to tough it out! Looks like the effort was totally worth it! It's so beautiful.

I’ve been to the top of the dome, it’s possible! But definitely terrifying.

I really like your videos. I'm a blue collar guy. I don't have much time for travel, or vacation. I live here it's really expensive. Living vicariously through you sir. Much appreciated.

I appreciate you highlighting the lesser known parks and trails. Switchbacks make inclines much more manageable than going up in a straight line. Views are stunning but you definitely earn it. Thanks Josh!

I stumbled across Castle Crags by accident, caught a glimpse of it from I-5, then promptly looked it up. Did that trail in 2015, and remember the viewpoint next to the dome being epic! Time for another visit.

I have just found your channel and I absolutly love it, Thank you so much for sharing your videos. I live in England and plan to visit the USA in a couple of years. I am going to watch all your videos, you have such a beautiful country, and even seeing the places you stop to eat and what you eat is interesting as it is so very differant from England. Also love the interaction between you and your dad. Thank you again.

Just did the hike today with my daughter, 18 years old, and her friend.
I'm 65 years old. I can tell you the trail is brutal and strenuous.
    I won't do it again.
If you do go, the only place for water is Indian springs. It's worth it to cool off and get a drink.
I stopped near the end of the trail sign while my daughter and her friend climbed the dome.
My daughter said that part of the climb on the granite face is the most challenging.
She said there is two crevice you can go to the top. They went up the upper and went down the lower.
She wouldn't recommend the climb if you are scared of heights. And not confident about your ability.

good ole sierra scrambling. except not in the sierras just this random granatic pluton in the middle of nowhere. Have your daughter check out Cosmic Wall(5.6) if she ever wants to do a legit climb up in the crags w/ gear (Or without if youre baller enough and can downclimb 5.7)

Thanks. I had heard it was a pretty tough hike. I appreciate seeing it before I would attempt it. It looks like a beautiful hike. As for the PCT, I’ve never wanted to hike the whole thing cuz I know there are demands on it my body couldn’t take. But I’ve hiked more accessible sections of it. I more vicariously follow PCT hikers on You Tube every year to enjoy irs beauty from home and inspire me to get out on the trails. It’s why I enjoy your channel too. You inspire me to get outside. Thanks for posting

We've been to Castle Crags several times and it's so pretty. Done the Dome Trail before. Yeah, it's definitely tough and was hot the day we hiked it too. But the views were amazing! The Root Creek Trail is also a really nice one for families as it's relatively flat, well shaded, and follows a pretty creek. Lots of wild flowers and fern along there too, especially in the spring and early summer. You actually get a great view if the Crags driving northbound on I-5 as you are approaching Dunsmuir. We've stopped a number of times here just for a nice picnic lunch and stretch break at the overlook on our way up the freeway to other destinations. It's a very beautiful place and worth a short stop or an entire day.

    It's definitely a hike uphill !!!
If going to early in the season (to avoid the heat) you take the chance of there still neighbors snow on the upper end of the trial.
There were a couple of spots that had icy snow and with the drop off I was to chicken to cross, so didn't make it to the very top.
If you have knees that give you trouble coming back down will put some serious stress on them.
Highly recommend taking snacks, water and some trekking poles.
It does get hot during late spring and through into fall, so be prepared for that.

Give yourself a good 6-8 hours to enjoy getting to the top......there is a lot of quartz crystal in the rocks and can really help go deep in meditation. There is a back trail that is incredible taking you to some clear pools of water that one can get into - off of Soda Creek exit. For older people, going down hill is hard on the knees and will probably be sore for about three days afterwards, however, it is worth it!

You mention castle dome and the scramble to get to the top, but you have like 5 shots looking at the most popular adventure climb in all of siskiyou county. It was the large spire on the left when youre at the top of the dome trial. It is called Cosmic Wall.

Cool trail Josh! It reminds me a little of the High Peaks trail at Pinnacles but mostly it reminds me of the trail to the top of Half Dome. My wife and I stopped at Castle Crags back in 2017 as a rest stop on our way to Grant's Pass and I really wish I had been able to hike there, maybe next time😁.

If it wasn't for work, I could go this 4th of July to California and spend some nice weekend in the wilderness. Is there still snow pack in Shasta right now?

Josh thanks for the awesome videos!
I recently came across your channel and have a quick question on Mori Point in NorCal and Dana Point in SoCal.
Am I allowed to build houses at Mori Point headland or Dana Point Conservation area along the cliffs (the one around 2:18 in ur Dana Point video I see two houses already built along the cliff)?
