    HOW THE SHOULDER WORKS
    Your shoulder is the most mobile joint in your body. It has the most range of motion available and is made to be very versatile.
    However, in order to control that motion your shoulder also needs to be very stable. That means the muscles that control your shoulder need to be strong enough to control that motion through all available ranges.
    WHY DOES MY SHOULDER HURT?
    One of the most-common causes of shoulder pain is a lack of strength in these muscles that control how your shoulder moves - specifically the rotator cuff and the muscles that act on your shoulder blade.
    Therefore, one of the best ways to eliminate shoulder pain is to strengthen the muscles that control your shoulder so you’re sure that it moves and functions properly.

    Hi, PT from Germany here. It´s great to get some inspiration for shoulder stabilizing excercises. Thank you for this video. Gonna try them myself. I´ve got one question though. I get many patients that come in 6-8 weeks after shoulder surgery that often concerns the rotator cuff and stability - or the lack of it - is a big issue. I can imagine the wall ball (doing a similar excercise already) and the ABC can be done whenever the patient is able to reach up high enough and the pain is tolerable but how long would you wait with the lying YTW´s or the one on all fours? Probably 3 months or so at least, right?
    Thank you again and have a lovely rest of your day :)

    Would this be effective for someone that has lost BOTH rotator cuffs? Full detachment along with labrum detachments?

    How are you, Doctor? I have instability in right shoulder blade and winging and it causes pain in my shoulder and neck. Do these exercises improve the stability of the shoulder joint or not?

    I have a weak left shoulder that clicks doing some movements, and find it impossible to raise a heavy dumbell without initial assistance while bench pressing. With initial assistance I go on to do 20 or more reps. So, I look forward to trying these exercises! 😊

    • @toneandtighten
      @toneandtighten  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes and no. Depending on your condition and the severity and the response these might be too aggressive and you could set a goal to work up to them. I have more great shoulder videos with stretches and other exercises that aren't as aggressive if you find these too difficult.

    I’ve had two cervical surgeries, this feels like it’s putting an incredible strain on my neck muscles. Is that normal?

    • @toneandtighten
      @toneandtighten  6 місяців тому

      All of the exercises or any one in particular? If that's the case, we need to modify them or give them up altogether as they shouldn't be painful. You might consider some of my other videos for your neck and shoulders that might be a little easier (less straining) to perform. 🙏🏼

      It's a difficult exercise! You need to push harder on the ball and make smaller circles. Practice and consistency are key! Good luck 🙏🏼
