Not necessarily. They could work it into their contract negotiation. Tell them they'll give them an hour long show elsewhere in the USA weekly schedule, like a week old episode of NXT, in exchange for allowing them to go back to 2 hours. Other than that, then yes, they'd have to switch networks, which is why they've been negotiating with Fox & FS1. They could use that as leverage for a more time friendly deal with USA.
but isn't it stated somewhere that the suits at usa network are the ones that demand there be a mcmahon gm on wwe tv and the reason why its 3 hours? yeah I know they can try to give each hour a different name like raw is war, warzone, main event, etc. but it still doesn't solve the problem. even if they went 3 days of 2 hour blocks it would still be 60% long talking segments and the program revolving around the GM character.

It's funny to hear Jim describe part of the charm of ECW that he never understood. One of the things people loved is that it looked grungy and dirty, like a fighting environment. They didn't have huge budgets for flashy production and settings for their promos, and they didn't try to pretend they did. I always loved the authenticity of that.
But you can have great wrestling without the flash and without the gimmicky violence
@@profshad3429 ECW wasn't just about the violence, it's just that any legit talent they brought in got gobbled up by WCW and WWE so all they had left were the people the big 2 didn't want or burned their bridge. Also a lot of the guys who couldn't work just went violent because it got a reaction and it was their only trick like Ian Rotten. Remember Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, Misterio, Storm, RVD, Taz, Douglas, Eliminators, all went through there and most didn't just pass through.

I recently tried a cheap brand called Douhans that was surprisingly good (given the price and that its blended).
Bring it back to what made wrestling stylistically appealing, the art form of it, strip everything down, slowly introduce original character ideas again

Back to 2 hours, remove scripted promos, and you could eventually work back in sports based content eventually. You can't just change instantly, but if you do it a little at a time, people would bite.

It'd already be a vast improvement if the 3 hour RAW was at least 1.5 hours of wrestling. There's been some where they were lucky to get in 20 minutes between all the talking and recaps of the talking, then backstage segments and PPV promos. That's the main reason I stopped watching it. On top of that, they really need to work on characters, starting with the names. How can we be expected to take Kassius Ohno seriously with a name like that? He's a great wrestler but that name is just wrong. Whether it's The Undertaker or Stone Cold Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan or Bruiser Brody, a wrestler needs a name that sums up who they are, and they can't just be "random man off the street #57".
The characters suck because the wrestlers don't control or invent their characters anymore. The WWE does. It's awful.

It's not about people knowing it's fixed. You just need to bring back proper story lines and characters that people can and have a reason to get behind. They have none of that in wwe, it's all crap now. Jim is wrong because that's the problem now there is no story lines for anyone , everything is rushed now. So I guess Vince Russo wasn't all that bad since he had story lines for everyone, not always good but shit it's way better than for example apollo crews , good god he has been the same boring person since he's been there,giving him the u.s title does absolutely nothing. Change his character build a story line and maybe people can get behind him, or boo him out of the building either way it's all very boring now. First thing I'd bring back all the old school championship belts Add the Undited States tag team belts and the tv championship. Also bring in the world six man tag team championship .
Second thing I'd do is go with Monday night Raw only.Bring back super stars of wrestling all American wrestling. And have more jobber matches But more believable.
Third I'd cut down on the house shows bring back the deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling and only go with the 4 main pay per views I'd do more of a style like Clasg of Champions or a Saturday nights main event.
Smash the eyesore LED ramps, aprons, and ringposts. No more scripts, contrived backstage segments or breast implants. Reduce the roster by half. Fire Kevin Dunn and the "writers" and bring in bookers who wrestled and know the business. Dirty it up, visually and thematically. No McMahon will ever be allowed in a creative role again. Titles matter, storylines are realistic ... bring in Cornette, Raven, and Bill Eadie to teach remedial promo-cutting, selling, and ring psychology.

Fire all writers, stop tv shows go to strictly online format, keep raw and smackdown and NXT as family friendly shows but have a new adult show that allows swearing and adult orientated programming.
I feel like the amount of things I would completely overhaul if I was in charge is so great that it would be easier if I just had a brand new promotion to start with. My number one rule would be that under no circumstance during the TV show or at the live show once you are past the curtain are you to make any reference whatsoever suggesting that wrestling is fake. No talk about performing for people or anything like that. Everything must be treated on the air as if it is 100% a shoot because that's how real movies and TV shows work. Promos are ab-lidded and matches largely are as well. The problems with that is how many people on the roster are actually capable of doing that? If you've just been in the WWE bubble this whole time how would you know how to do anything off-the-cuff? You would have retrain a whole bunch of people. They would have to learn to play to the live audience, not the TV audience, as the atmosphere translates better on TV if the live audience is engaged. And while I generally wouldn't want to restrict what people say, other than obviously not swearing on TV, I feel like I would have to specifically ban the corporate WWE-speech that Vince has insisted on so as to have more natural language.
You have to retrain the wrestlers and effectively retrain the audience with the intention being to win back the people that have lost interest over the last 20 years and attract new fans that have never watched before. My guess is that this would in result some of the established main eventers flopping without everything being planned for them and some unexpected mid-carders getting over once they're allowed to cut loose. Positions on the cards would shuffle around based on who can work in the new system and who can't. One thing that would be nice about those TV deals though is that you would have some flexibility to work the kinks out while so much revenue is guaranteed.
I take my son to Monster Truck shows these days. It's the closest I can find to the experience of old school pro wrestling.
I agree with Jim; the shows are too sterile-looking. Everything is so clean and put-together. It feels too much like a performance stage and not enough like a place where you can watch people fight in a match. If I were handed the keys to WWE so to speak, here are three things I would do:
1. Put in a new announce team - scout out individuals who are passionate about the business of wrestling and have credentials that qualify them to call matches. I enjoyed announcers like Joey Styles and the other greats in wrestling history that could make the matches sound exciting and tell a story of what is actually going on in the ring and what is relevant to the situation, and the accomplishments of the wrestlers in the ring, instead of talking about random bullshit or shilling the latest network subscription gimmick, etc.
2. If I was going to continue calling the show "RAW"...what is so fucking "RAW" about it right now? Does it stand for "Random Ass Wrestling?" or "Really Awful Wrestling?" now?? I mean come on. If WWE insists on having a themed TV show instead of just promoting a few matches every week, then the gimmick should make sense. If you call the show Monday Night Raw, then I expect to see some Raw-ness, right? I would expect to see matches that have the most heated rivalries, the most intense matches, and the best promos for upcoming title matches and PPV events. I think that would help people to "forget" that they are watching a choreographed event and sink their teeth into what is going on.
3. Stop doing PPV's on a SUNDAY...What is so damned special about a SUNDAY for WWE pay per views? This is a work night, and a school night. People don't want to stay up half the night to watch a shitty wrestling show and they don't want their kids staying up late. Why not have a PPV on a FRIDAY night, or SATURDAY night, when people are usually off of work and can have their friends over to watch? I think it would be more exciting and give people something to do on the weekend that can go to the events live! Sunday is when people are winding down and then have to try and get excited for a mediocre-at-best PPV. IF you do it on a Friday or Saturday, even if the show sucks at least you can stay up and get drunk!
I always hated Sunday PPV’s. It was murder trying to get my parents to buy one, let alone allow me to stay up to watch it when I was a kid.
Saturday are when fight events are. When Sundays were decided it was just boxings night. Now that's evolved to mma or boxing.

1. Ban in ring promos unless its world class, proven talent and only for the hottest angles. 2. Almost all promos from backstage, sit down interview, other location etc. 3. Only let people who can talk have such exposure and have others practice till they can or just don't and find other productive uses for them. I'd rather see 4 seconds of RVD silently preparing for his match than see him try and remain serious in a tense faceoff with Randy Orton. Not saying he can't do it. Just my opinion. Without his match what are you paying to see?
They could also bring back the mouthpiece managers done in the style of a bobby heenan or paul ellering and put the guys who can't talk with them thereby solving the problem of guys who can't talk trying too do promos where they just fall on their faces and make fools of themselves.

I'm a bit torn on this, because while I love rasslin', let's be honest - sports entertainment beat rasslin' from a business perspective. More people wanted to watch sports entertainment and buy the merchandise than they ever did for rasslin'. Vince made the most money, so he started buying up all the old NWA territories, some of which were struggling severely to compete with WWF, and WCW was really the end of that - they represented that final former NWA territory that Vince until 2001 couldn't buy. But in the end, it's a business, so it's about making money. Vince has managed to become a billionaire producing sports entertainment and the NWA territories don't exist anymore. Again, as much as I love rasslin', if I'm a wrestler or in the business, I'm going where the money is. I have to eat. The public has spoken. They'd rather watch a clown or a cartoon character come to the ring than a human being. That's why Mark Calloway was getting nowhere in wrestling as Mean Mark and the Master of Pain until he became the Undertaker. A lot of people like their After School Cartoon wrestling. More, apparently, than enjoy rasslin'. It's how it is. Plenty of things I like disappear. I can't tell you how many amazing restaurants and pubs I've been to that go out of business after a few months or years and I'm stuck at some chain eating frozen French fries.

Imagine a fan actually getting so worked up about something they saw on an episode of Raw that they bought a ticket just to go assault the "WRESTLER" not sports entertainer that got them worked up, no one cares anymore. It's nothing but supposed grown adults that are still built like junior high school kids going out to the ring and preforming their EXTREMELY choreographed tumble routines, professional wrestling is over and done with, it's never coming back.

Get arrid of the stupid gimmicks, cut the 140-200 lbs talent out walking papers. Recreation of the left talent gimmicks on some, new solid storylines and feuds with substance, stables, bring in 3 wrestling managers, out the door with the comic and Disney PG approach, create a new-attitude era with a new show.. keep the NXT brand with a few light directional changes in creative.

Cut out McMahons and HHH completely, zero input or control of anything. Fire writing/booking etc and replace with veteran wrestlers and producers who really know the business and how to create great matches and scenarios. And last is downsize. There’s just too much shit going on. Smackdown, Main Event, Superstars can get cut. Just need to reallytrim roster down. And assuming without HHH can keep the NXT product or otherwise redo it then combine that with 205 as the other tv show for Wed or Thurs night. So you have the stars on Raw competing for world, intercontinental, women’s and tag championships then let the other show represent the up and coming and lightweight/cruiserweight divisions.
Jim Cornette knows more about wrestling than pretty much any other person on the planet. If he were an authoritative advisor, I have no doubt that any promotion would benefit greatly.

The rest ? Do them on a Saturday afternoon like Clash of Champions, on USA, or FOX, etc. and do 4 of them a year. 5) Cut back that bloated roster of shit. Make people "earn" their spot. 6) Let the agents "instruct" talent on how to tell the story. But have quality agents too. (Booker T, Big Show, Mark Henry, immediately come to mind !!!) 7) STOP WITH THE PART-TIME ATTRACTION BULLSHIT !!!! 8) Tell VKM, Steph, Paul, & Shane, "no more TV. Do your Corporate job". This is just some suggestions......

For me more Wrestling that's at least somewhat believable. And less talk. And if need be train the Wrestlers how to talk. The last clip I tried watching of wwe everything just came off as to stilted to me. While I always know in the back of my mind that it's just a show, a good, really well done movie can draw me in and let me temporarily suspend my disbelief. That's what I miss in Wrestling. I always knew it was fixed or a work as it's called,but they used to put on a the kind of show that could draw me in and let me for a short time suspend my disbelief. I miss the feeling of realism and some logic,even while knowing its not fully completely real. I'm not asking that they go back to not even being seen together in Public. But let the show feel abit real, and the Wrestling make at least enough sense so as to not be stupid.

Exactly. WWE isn't about the wrestling and hasn't been for a very long time. The wrestling feels like something they put in the show as a backdrop only because they have to. Comic book come to life is right. The promos today are shit. Every wrestler entering the business today should be made to watch all of Ric Flair's old promos (the $600 lizard shoes one is the best of all time) from the 80's.........and then have them watch Flair-Garvin and Flair-Steamboat to learn about how the action in the ring tells a story.

For starters I would say get rid of the cameren. WWE has the shittiest camera work. I surprised Mc Mann approves that garbage. The constant in and out of camera makes you miss part of big moves . Turn it back into a kid’s show. There are two individuals I know who LOVE WWE: they’re both kids of coworkers and they’re both 13 year old girls. So just abandon the idea of trying to pretend that you’ll ever sell the product to adults again. No one has time for a predetermined outcome. Sell it to kids and move on.

I think Corny is underestimating the forgetfulness of the general wrestling audience. How many times have the same angles, programs and storylines been worked, that they fall for every time? If the biggest company in the industry started bringing things back to actual wrestling, and having less of the cartoony stuff and less of the drama, I think it wouldn't take long before the general wrestling audience was on board with that. Much in the way they got brought over to the cartoony stuff to begin with. Plus you have a lot of fans that would come back to watching it more seriously.
They are a garbage crappy company that needs to go away! Hope is lost!
