iOS 18 will give iPhone users greater control over Home Screen app icon arrangement, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman was first to report that the iPhone would get a "more customizable" Home Screen starting with iOS 18. It is already possible to customize the Home Screen and create blank app icons with apps such as Shortcuts and Widgetsmith, but Apple's own personalization options will be more convenient and official.

Yeah, I remember being shocked when I upgraded my iPad and saw how flat the design was. I miss the 3d designs and the old charging sound.

Yeah it’s super difficult for me to press the button to open the web because my finger cooldown rate is like 10sec but maybe i just need to upgrade my fingers

I hope Apple finally adds a button or widget on the main screens that allows for on/off toggling of location services. I usually keep it off, but for those times I want to use map directions, I don't want to dig through the settings to find it.
Create a shortcut using Apple Shortcuts. Easy peasy… takes 2 minutes. Mini tutorial on mine.

by the rumors, iOS 18 seems to be bigger than iOS 7, which is interesting, i wonder if we could be getting new gestures to control the device too, like iPhone 6s brought 3D Touch multi tasking (using force on the edge of the display to open app switcher) it quickly became my favorite way to open the app switcher, although it was hardware based, surely there can be more software based gestures that can be added as optional, like macOS trackpad gestures.
I just learned today that after being an andriod user and customizing my home screens for literally 13 years now, that Iphone users have never been able to move their apps around?????

I’ve been hoping for years to be able to even write notes for each workout. Such as what weight lifting workouts I did (sets, reps, etc)

I’m still waiting for proper live wallpapers, like lava blobs or moving colours etc It’s the one thing I miss since moving to IOS a few years ago.
As a very recent Android to iOS convertite, I'd really love a swipe to go back gesture, as on Android. The absence of this feature is the only thing that I hate on iOS, as most apps have the back arrow in the top left corner which is the worst location possible.
i love my iphone 14 pro max deep purple 1tb but i hope we can change the chat bubbles to diff colors

Isn’t always a “big update?” The “new best iPhone?” Given the lack of customization, and Apple’s complete lack of listening to users and meeting the capabilities of android…I’m considering switching once my 13 is out of date.
I would like to have the ‘open in background’ feature added to safari, when opening a new tab. It’s already on the iPad and Mac, but not on the iPhone.
If i could have split screen and be able to copy text from any app or screen i would be ready to keep apple instead of switching back

I just want them to add multiple uses for the action button natively you have changed it from a slider for a reason and the fact that it hasn’t been there since the start disappoints me.

Yes with the new iOS 18 update I will be able to send messages and photos to android phones for free via wifi. This will allow me ditch my cellphone bill for good and just use wifi at the home or work to send messages and use offline google maps for navigation

The one thing that I have never been able to fathom is why the apps won't orientate automatically according to how the user holds the iPhone. I.e., orientate between portrait and landscape. Whilst not necessarily related to how the apps are laid out on the screen, I do feel that Apple should be introducing a 'full-set' of an app upon launch. For example the Journal app is currently only available in iOS format, whereas I think that such apps should launch in both iOS and MacOS versions simultaneously. I think that we should also be allowed to re-label an app to something that is more familiar. I would never want to pick up an unfamiliar journal, but would be more tempted to write in a 'Dyddiadur' or even a 'Diary'. 'Journal' simply doesn't resonate with me. I wouldn't want to rename apps such as 'Final Cut Pro', 'App Store', 'Garageband' and such apps, but something that is very personal and with a heavy cultural bias to it such as a diary app (Journal) I would want to rename or simply re-label.
Most apps do automatically re-orientate themselves when you turn the phone from portrait to landscape. But in Control Center if you have Rotate Lock turned on, that won't happen. You may want to check that setting.

Biggest issue with AirPod hearing aids is battery life. Needs to be at least 16 hours.

The apple could at let users to be able to add 5 to 6 icons inside their dock as well for adding additional columns to their home screen. Having only just 4 icon layout is just a waste of space.

Split screen on a phone is a gimmick.It’s only useful on iPads.
@@davidjacobs6244 i use it all the time on my Samsung. It's one of the reasons i am reluctant to change to iphone. Along with the ability to switch between front and back cameras while video recording.
I beg to disagree. I use it on my android all the time for productivity and study on my Android and would love to have it on my iPhone!
I got Samsung phone and I barely use but I think it depends on the person to person but I never miss on my phone because I rarely do anything which requires split screen and if I need in some situations I use ipad
I feel like you would require a much larger screen, or for Apple to make flip phones like Samsung, which is stupid. If you want a split screen, use ipadOS
I dont need any of the improvements and new features, all i need is the best battery life & consistent and smooth OS experience, ios is not consistent these days

I hope Apple brings back the iOS 6 icons, iOS 6 notes app with page animations, fix calendar app to display Friday instead of Fri on the icon, Redesign App Library, Coverflow from iPod touch back into the Music app, Customized EQ settings for Music, iOS 6 theme as the new iOS theme in 17.4.1 looks flat, dull & boring. 😊

The rumors of Apple seeking outside "AI' help from MS, google, et al, can't possibly be for iOS 18, as we are very close to a developer beta release and something as major as a Siri upgrade can and does affect 3rd party apps. I also can't see Apple ever going to Google for a deal like this, as their privacy polices are so much the opposite of Apple. If I wanted Google's AI integrated into my phone's operating system, I'd get an Android. While Siri needs massively improved, it needs to keep the privacy and on-device computing priorities.
Apple device/software with Android customization is my dream device……… that will never happen 😢

For the new iOS the full camera controls need to be available while using the camera (see Samsung).
It’s insane that the full camera controls are buried in the settings menu, then scroll all the way down to find the camera controls, the most used feature on any phone is the camera but Apple keeps it buried in the setting’s.
The ability to Turn Off Live Photos permanently would be nice as well.
Ohhhh, and some time in near future, can Apple dump the totally worthless Dynamic Eyesore and go with an under the screen Face ID or at least do a tiny punch hole similar to what Samsung has done for years now.

I love how Apple hails moving closer to Android a "major new update".
Now that the EU has forced Apple's hand on sideloading and USB-C, and the world at large has forced their hand on RCS, I'm almost ready to buy an iPhone but until the two things below are dealt with i'm not budging.
1. Allow me to turn of "fat finger mode" by increasing the screen resolution system wide. It's a retina display after all.
2. Allow me to use custom keyboards like Swiftkey, or at least allow me to resize and customise the keyboard. It also suffers from "fat finger mode".

What were all the news about Apple having bought more than 30 AI companies in the last few months about? What is Apple doing with these companies that they can’t seem to get into AI themselves and having to rely on Googles AI? Is Apple nowadays not able to build up something from scratch themselves and have they just wasted a lot of money buying all these companies?
id like alarms disabled when bluetooth synced to my car, nothing worse than driving and having an alarm go off. setting a default music app instead of having the last music app i used be the one thats opened when i sync to my car. give us the ability to lock apps open or closed (both manually and though shortcuts). for ipad OS let us use 2 apps in slide-over (top/Bottom) when the ipad is in portrait orientation instead of stretching 1 app

some use the alarm for reminders so why would it change just cause you're connected to your car?
Who uses the icons anyway. Open phone pull down type in what you want gone are the days of searching your thousands of app icons for that one you need.
