Here's why Gerber Kawasaki CEO opposes Elon Musk's $56 billion Tesla pay package

- Ross Gerber, Gerber Kawasaki president and CEO, joins 'Squawk on the Street' to discuss Elon Musk's $56 billion pay package, whether shareholders should stay true to their original vote, and more.
Ross made his money and now he is unwilling to pay the man that made him the money. Shame on him. Unamerican value.
Ross should be fired
You know what is even more shameless? His entire fund owns only 800shares today 😂 I hope he sells them all and never is considered a spokesman for Tesla again.
yes fired @@marcbastien6142
Yeah because Elon was not paid by Tesla.. He owns 13% of it.
He is getting a bonus that's worth what the whole company makes in 3 years.
Is he worth that much? No. But let him get paid.
he made ALL GOOD POINTS and you have not refuted a single one here.
the package isn't for the last 2 years though it's for getting Tesla from the grave to a 500b market cap
It was meant to be exercised if it hit 1 trillion market cap. It did for a short time but now is half of that. He should be getting nothing but a boot out of tesla
@@mysticwatersoo no, it was for 600 b
@@adastra8218 doesn’t matter what it was for. Make the investor money. Thats elons job. He doesn’t like it? He can leave. There are plenty of other ceos who would love to see the success of Tesla without all the annoying politics
@@mysticwatersoo when he signed for that program taking no salary Tesla had a market cap of 50b the guy 20x the company to get that and you're crying because it's only 10x?
@@David-ff7vp It doesn't seem you are an investor in Tesla because you would know he made us shareholders a lot of money(about 10x from 2018 till today)
Ross is butt hurt he was not even considered to be on the board😂
Exactly
He's proving he had no business being on the board with every breath
Ross, I bet you share the same bedroom with Bozos.
That board is composed of scam artists and Walmart greeters
He wasn’t considered to be on the board because he’s critical of Elon. What does that tell you?😂😂
An absolute joke! Why bring him on CNBC! Why?!?!
its the only network that would have him? the others see through that type of BS lol
to spread the narrative
Can we get this Gerber Baby a bottle? 🍼
Or a doll so he can show us where it Hurts…..
Gerber holds a messily 800 shares of Tesla stock. CNBS, do some research before you give someone a platform.
It passed! Losers go cry on CNBC while winners build the future
facts!!!!!!!!!!
Gerber is just butthurt he's not a Tesla board member
Buddy hating! Elon trying to get to mars, if I'm going to support any of the rich get richer funny business it's going to be for Elon, he's doing cool stuff atleast
For sure!
A person with 800 shares of any company should not be considered an expert. “A Tesla share holder.” This man is a coward who has no credibility. If he opposes this pay package have his fund get rid of the 800 shares as a $22/share price; price the shares were when 2018 ended (split adjusted). No negotiating process? Nobody representing the shareholders? They voted on the pay package. This human is weak sauce at its finest!
This guy is such a cry baby and a Hater!
If it was such a bad deal, why didn't the shareholders vote it down? They might not be able to negotiate back then, but they could definitely vote it down if they thought the package was excessive. Why is this pay package only excessive after he had hit the target? Why not before?
800 shares holder
This is someone who would go back on his word which he admits
Eat it Ross! Sell your 800 shares and buy Nvidia then!
Gerber's fund should refund the people that lost money from his fund. He did not earn them.
Ross re-negging on something he voted on is appalling. I'm fine with shareholders who voted no originally voting no now... but people who are switching their vote are not the kind of people I'd ever want to do business with. A deal is a deal.
Exactly correct. Lacking integrity and willing to stab you in the back. He is butt hurt that he had no chance to get on the Tesla board and now he is a women scorned. He strikes at Elon every chance he gets. They have him on for the drama and disdain he brings.
Let’s start reviewing Ross’s pay package dating way back to 10 years ago and let the community vote on it.
Hate it or not. Ross Gerber is entirely correct. A lot of the retailers here side with musk because they feel he’s a source for good which is fine… but Ross is all about the money and as an INVESTOR… he’s entirely correct. Elon does deserve compensation but investors don’t need the drama that comes with it! No one forced Elon to sell shares and buy garbage Twitter lol. He is basically upset that he made a bad business decision and lost money and now is forcing the common investor to pay him as the stock sits 60% below all time high 😂 Ross is entirely correct here
This was 2018.... before twitter
Twitter is doing just fine.
@@TheMagicJIZZ times have changed since 2018. The vote is for 2024 and as of today Elon has not done anything in the past 2-3 years to continue to increase Tesla shareholder value thus we should not be diluting ourselves or anyone to pay the dude who only brought problems to Tesla the past 3 years
@@David-ff7vp WRONG
The agreement is between 2018 to 2028 and he has to hold the options to 2033
He has to pay 7 billion in cash to Tesla to buy the shares at a 2018 strike price
It was worth in total for 12 performance goals $5.9 billion dollars
Its worth $59 because or ELON
Why do you get to benefit and he gets no salary or pay? But he helped you?
What's the game theory? Elon leaves the stock crashes and he waits for the moment...to take it private
He bought twitter for 44 billion
I advise you to think and support the pay
@@David-ff7vp you really should read up more on what's exactly going on. This vote is for the pay package agreed in 2018 to hit ridiculous milestones in ordered for him to be paid. He's hit all the milestones and now he's asking to get what was agreed upon. Him doing anything for the last 2 years or not has nothing to do with it. And if you think he was doing nothing in the last 2 years, why this big jump in improvement for fsd which could translate into robotaxi? He can own as many companies as he wants, as long as he's pushing the company to progress is all that matters
Ross is a shameless man. Elon and his team literally took the risks, yet people like you are claiming credit? I just sold all my holdings on your fund. Extremely disappointed how low someone can be. This is the same guy that looked down on PLTR oh damn.
Dude has 800 shares LOL. Just a fool looking for air time.
800 Tesla stocks in his fund. He should just sell out of it already and stop talking about this stock. And seriously calling the Tesla board 'stink'? He should have some humility
Gerber Kawasaki is out of mind. Just admit what Elon achieved for Tesla.
I'm not gonna lie Ross actually brought up some good points, especially nvidia
you brought in a guy with only 800 shares....
Finally, someone is setting the CNBC hosts straight.
Hahahaha PP approved Ross 😂 sell your shares and stop the winging
I guess we'll find out tomorrow if this is still the United States of America. Also, don't have this Gerber baby on any more, it's embarrassing for you.
It's not about Twitter or the last two years, it's about targets set and deadlines that he met and accomplished so he deserves pay for that
Go home Ross , both passed 😂
Gerber chose to speak nothing but facts
Who cares about your two shares. And your excuse it's a total BS!
He said that so he said that money is not the problem. The amount of money paid to Elon Musk is not a problem but after a little while, he said that’s too much money? So what is it?
Give Elon his money smh
Elon doesn’t have our best interests at heart. Why should we have his? Plenty of talented engineers to hurt without Elon as ceo. We said Apple was Steve Jobs until Tim Cook came along and set Apple on the right path. Elon is a volatile character, he’s bad for Tesla now
@@David-ff7vp When you said “Tim Cook came along and set Apple on the right path” what do you mean by that?
@@Uchihawallstreet after Steve Jobs unfortunate passing, Apples future was also uncertain, everyone stated Steve Jobs is Apple… but it turns out Apple is Apple and Tesla can survive without Elon too.
@@David-ff7vpElon is the largest shareholder
Please shut up
@@David-ff7vp In my opinion, Tim Cook is a good businessman while Steve Jobs was the innovator. I haven’t seen any innovation from Apple for the past couple years however Tim Cook’s has done a tremendous job with the company stocks. Elon is a bit of both.
That guy is a bad actor. I don’t know how he stumbled in Tesla
He makes sooooooo many good poitns and I agree, I voted no as well.
Wow, the people whining and complaining did not refute ANY of these excellent points.
Negotiate when the company at the brink of bankruptcy is not the same as when the company is at the top of its industry. This guy is a clown
Some people trying to make their ignorance sound rational. Albeit Elon buying twitter after 2018 was not quite done in the best manner. Jenson compensation was not all or nothing.
I voted for it.
One of the few times I agree with Ross
Please stop having Gerber on. He's entirely mid
👻 I have owned and STILL own more Tesla shares than Ross and his company has ever owned. How is he claiming to have kept Tesla afloat during all these years with only a few hundred shares?? 😂 Even my tiny amount that I own is nothing. Some politician must be paying this guy to talk out of both sides of his mouth smh. 👻
Guy just hates Elon, but all his tears mean nothing, Elon is getting paid either way
I have more in TSLA than his fund. He likes to reneg on deals. That's all I need to know😊
ross just being heartbroken as he can not be in the board to get short term value
Ross has tiny amount of shares what’s he on tv for
Dont need to hear him talk. Guys a dush. Thats his legacy.
Vote yes for "Pay Package" because it was the only non-evil thing to do on this topic.
Fragile bloke 😢
Ross what if you had a deal and you delivered ?
now that is hypothetical
Sure, invite this guy on once in a while, but not so regularly cause he spews the same garbage.
Couldn’t watch him whine the whole time

Give everybody favor and sell stock if you don't like it
I hate this video, everyone in it, everyone mentioned in it, and everyone who has watched it.
Did he say he didn't vote in 2018 though? So there is no obligation for him. But those who voted yes in 2018 are morally obligated to vote yes now
Ross is just a pen pushing finance guy-he is not an innovator or engineer so I have little respect for his ideas because there is a million of these guys on wall Street..
What a clown 😂😂😂😂.
This is very much a case of "I don't like Elon, therefore, he does not deserve the money".
Musk Fan boys kissing the ring of a multi billionaire who could give a F about them.
Pathetic
Ross traitor
Ross when ru going stop crying?
Bye bye Ross

As a retail shareholder against Elon's pay package I am glad someone is speaking for people like me despite constant attacks from Elon cultists.

Ross is a snake 🐍
This guy is delusional
Wow he’s funny
wow what an amazing analysis.

Norway's wealth fund, which owns 1.5% of all the world's listed stocks, also in 2022 backed a shareholder proposal calling on Tesla to adopt a policy of respecting labour rights such as freedom of association and collective bargaining.

I am a retail investor and a long term one. I voted for it.
@@yamphurai89 Elon Musk is a great individual! But paying him almost 10% of the total market cap is too much. Market cap includes unrealized gains too and paying someone 10% of all that…? Forget about this Gerber guy. He is nothing.
I am not voting because he is Elon but because what he has accomplished for tesla investors, general public, and what was agreed upon. I am long term investor and strongly believe that I will get bigger ROI if he owns more of Tesla...I trust his hardwork!
Gerber is a traitor
Goober
Because Ross is a rat
Weasel.
Right on, vote that package down!!
Gerber just a whiner. Don’t keep bringing him on…. What a joke. He wanted to be in the board. Didn’t get on. So sour.
We don’t need any more negative in the world.
He has just gone to far her Gerber, it really stinks 😷
Time to stop bringing him in for interviews, he hardly owns any shares and yea I have no more words…
No one trust this fool
It's true though tesla board is probably just there as puppets with no competency. The only one competent is elon
Wait till Elon leaves. This is gonna be awesome
He has ALREADY checked out from Tesla and is putting all of his time and attention to Twitter, politics, and xAI.

Crybaby go home!
Tesla doesn't want him.
All he has to do is walk away and go find someone that wants to play with him.

if Bernard Arnault and Jeff Bezos also want a package, i want a package
What a pathetic interview
🤣🤣🤣
Tesla will be bought by one of the big 3 one day.
Agreements that break regulations are not legal, the USA is the world's best capital market, by stopping the Elon package, the entire global market will see again that the USA has the best rights for small shareholders!
Not sure if this is true as so far I think the smaller investors are the ones who wants to keep Elon's pay package while the big sharks seems to have exhibited zero moral value by trying to find loopholes to negate on the deal
why are so many people against fair pay for good work? but think its ok that layers "stealing" elons pay get 10% of the tesla shares elon worked for while elon gets 0
