"Not gonna build too crazy a minivan" bro, you gotta turbo'd, stick shift minivan with a 9500 redline. Your the mayor Crazyville.
    Its awesome.
If your going to buy a grinder stand, look online used. For the most part, ones built in the 80's/90's are way higher build quality. You'll get them for nothing, and they are serviceable. Some of the stuff you buy today, you can't even change the brushes.

@Boostedboiz You cannot use a different cam journal from another head because Honda cylinder heads are line bored. You will seize the camshaft in the journal if you try that. So try to make the original cam cap work. Honestly since it is on the outside of the head I would just use what you have there. You will be able to secure it to the head and you have the cam journal caps as well. 👍 Up to you really Kyle. Can't wait to see more content!

Tip for valve spring retainers, drop the valve spring on and then put the top retainer and stem keepers in and smear some grease on them to keep them in place, then compress the spring down and past the stem of the valve and then make sure they are where they need to be and then back the compressor off :) good job man 👍

Kyle you should really try the drill and vacuum hose trick, makes the process alot quicker, just set the head on its side, use a power drill with a piece of vacuum hose between the drill and the top of the valve, then you can just spin it and pull it into the head to grind it, doesn't take long at all that way. just a suggestion:)

STP oil additive works great for helping the keepers stay in place when installing. It acts like grease almost and doesn't harm anything. When lapping valves it can go by faster is you listen carefully and hear the compound move away from the valve face, lift the valve and rotate it a bit and continue. Just helps spend less time spreading the compound on the valve face.

Kyle try using a little bit of grease on the end of a small flat head screw driver to put the keepers in. It works well for us when we assemble our motorcycle engines. Your Honda engines are very similar to Suzuki gsxr 1000 engines. I know everyone has their own methods but I thought I would just offer a tip. When we use grease it helps a lot.

Raising rpm is great for autox and rallyx. Common problem is running out of gear and making a shift to 3rd doesn't make sense since by the time you get it in 3rd you now have to downshift.

  • @lamella64

Lisle makes a tool with the same concept as you spring and retainer removal with the socket. The lisle tool has a magnet built in to keep the retainer from moving. It also has a part for instillation in the same manner or whacking it with a hammer. would cut your spring and retainer install in half. It's pretty popular and I used it myself on my Mitsubishi Montero last year.

Should replace the LMA's if you're planning on revving that high. After moving all those parts around, you definitely want to set the valve lash. You can not just swap on a new cam cap. If you need to replace one, you need to take it to a machine shop with the cam for that side, and have the whole set line honed to size. Yes, even if it is just one the rest need to be line honed together. They all need to have the same bore. That bore has to have the correct clearance for the cam, and that clearanced hole needs to be on the same plane as the rest of the caps.

DeAndre Madsen did you do just one or all of them? I have built numerous honda engines and have swapped a few cam caps before and never had an issue. Doing all of them without a line hone is an issue, doing one will likely be just fine.

23:00 It is almost critical to resurface your head, it can be warped just because of that heat you made with a torch, also there is 50% chance to have problem if you simply remove and reinstall cylinder head on any car using new head gasket without resurfacing head. It is my daily job to repair engines and I would recommend to think about what I said :-) .
