Boremund Baratheon was heated about Rhaenyra being crowned heir because Rhaenys Targaryen (The Queen who never Was) is his niece. He and his sister ( Rhayen’s mother) have always held a grudge that she was overlooked in favour of Viserys

Rob, Rhaenyra knew he was the one that made the decision, things like that don't stay secret. You could see word was spreading at the jousting games. Otto giving up his daughter was not him looking out for the king or to show loyalty. He made that decision strictly strategic to uplift his family name. Look at this Rob, everything in GOT is to make your family name rise in reputation and status, NOTHING is done because they genuinely care.
Imagine they knew about the winter king and the army and did nothing for YEARS. Surprised y'all didn't pick up on the scene where he was cut by the throne

I think the claim that nothing is done for caring reasons isnt true. Lyonel Strong certainly is giving wise and seemingly impartial counsel to Viserys. Ned Stark largely acted out of compassion.

It was really striking how rough they were with the Queen Aemma once they knew they were doing the C-section, and I'm glad you guys pointed it out. At that point, they didn't even care about making her comfortable, because she was literally just an obstacle to be cut open so they could save the Prince. Severely messed up stuff.
Daemon Targaryen is the best character hands down
Remember when Arya was Tywin Lannister's cup bearer? That sword has a history. Arya Stark, "Visenya Targaryen was a great warrior. She had a Valyrian steel sword she called "Dark Sister."

I like how they didn't show Daemon actually saying "Heir for a Day" even though it's a high probability that he did say it because it leaves people to wonder if Otto Hightower overembelished it because he knew Viserys was still reeling from Aemma and Baelon's deaths. He needed Viserys to act and knows that Viserys trusts his brother and defends him.

Daemon is an interesting character. You can tell that he genuinely cares for his brother and Rhaenyra. Also glad he knows what a snake Otto is. I think he's going to be a great character. His story will be so intriguing to follow 🔥💯
The simple fact he can see through Otto makes him top of the list as favorite characters for me alr

The Queen Who Never Was (Princess Rhaenys) and King Viserys are grandchildren of the Old King Jaherys who we saw at the beginning of the episode. King Jaherys didn't make the choice. The lords of westeros voted between Princess Rhaenys & King Viserys (there were originally 14 candidates but they narrowed it down to Rhaenys and Viserys). And the majority of the lords of westeros voted for King Viserys, even tho in the books there was some alluding that the Old King Jaherys preferred Princess Rhaenys (Queen who never was) because she was his eldest grandchild from his eldest son.
In Game of Thrones they mentioned Rhaenyra by the end of season 5. Episode 9 called the “dance with dragons” and contains a moment when Sheereen is telling the story of the whole new series
Actually in season 3 Joffrey said the ending for House of The Dragon. He was talking to Margaery in the sept about Rhaenyra. He said the ending. 😁 Sweet Joff..

Rhaenyra does come up at one point on GoT when Joffrey takes Margery Tyrell on tour in the Sept of Baelor mentioning where Rhaenyra Targaryen is buried right under their feet.
which the show got wrong because Rhaenyra's remains is at Dragonstone not King's Landing
Not one point, Shireen Baratheon literally narrated the entire House of the Dragon series in season 5 episode 9 mentioning both Rhaenyra & Aegon II.
In season three, Joffrey was telling Margaery what happened to Rhaenyra when he showed her the sept of Baelon, where the remains of the dragons are.
Shireen Baratheon also talks to her father about the book she was reading and mentions Rhaenyra by name cuz she was reading "the dance of dragons" ;)
Stannis mentioned Rhanerya in GOT once.

The queen that never was and the new king is the old king grandchildren not his kids…also the queen that never was mother is a Baratheon that’s why the Baratheons asked for her favor. Otto wasn’t trying to look out for the king lol he want his grandson to be the next heir that’s the only reason he sent his daughter. Also the king can change the heir if he had a son.

Hella late here but tbh I think Daemon said the "Heir for a Day" comment probably kinda sad? He's a family guy, I don't think he'd have been coarse about it like that. But, I *do* think Otto would greatly exaggerate how Daemon said it to make it out from a sad like, "he was only here for a day" sort of statement to a "lol rip the heir for a day" statement, just to bother Viserys about Daemon.
Don’t forget maester Aemon was also a Targaryen, even though he had to renounce his titles when he took the black. But he did pass away early on in the series I guess

17:02 The decision was between letting Aemma keep pushing and potentially her and the baby both have a chance of dying (but it’s not certain that they will) or performing the emergency c-section which would definitely kill Aemma but save the baby from further complications. It’s literally a 50/50 vs. a 100/0 chances of Aemma/Baby dying as the doctor presents it. Given that the king needs an heir. and he hadn’t thought of his daughter as a viable option yet, he wouldn’t take the chance on his potential son’s life. He didn’t know that they baby would die immediately after being born due to complications.
Princess Rhaenys, the queen who never was, is the cousin to King Viserys & Prince Daemon; her dad was the older brother of Viserys & daemons dad. Princess Rhaenys is related to the baratheons through her mother; that’s why she called the Baratheon guy at the tourney, cousin. The men that make up the city watch, which daemon commands, are from flea bottom, so they know the criminals & the crimes taking place…which is why they go in kicking ass. Otto Hightower is making moves and his daughter is his chess piece; he’s the hand of the king & has ALL the inside information…I don’t think he made that move in the interest of king Viserys. And yes, we hear about rhaenyra and this time period in the original GoT.

Thing is, the choice with the birth was not "Save one, or both are dying", it was "Save one, or MAYBE both are dying." There was a chance, however how small, that either Aemma or even she and the baby might have survived.
