Hey man, i am here because of todays stream. 950 Elo player here. Double scouting was really fast, got a lot of sheep! I messed up a lot actually, lost a few archers to the enemy town center (and a tower in his woodline always protected five villagers) and also struggled producing knights/archers/villagers-> wood/gold mixed at the same time. Later I was so focused on combat --> food ran out (sheep were gone). Had some downtime there. In the end i won with bulding just two ramps. killed 60 and lost 20 units, my opponent had no chance. He tried counter with spears but my archers with the upgrade were already there waiting behind the knights. I lost maybe two or three knights only. Even in lower elo you can mess up a lot and still win, the pressure on your opponent is super high with this. big thx for the guide! will definetly improve playing this.

Hey just wanted to drop a quick thanks. English and French are the civs i enjoy the most because of the Medival Knights aesthetics and they are beginner friendly. Your english Guide already helped me to greatly improve my early game and my Winrate went up. Tried two matches with the French now and won both easily.
Building a blacksmith gives you the free +1 melee attack. That means one charge and one followup attack from a knight kills a villager rather than it surviving with 2hp. So is it worth it to build a blacksmith immediately before archery range and before the first knight arrives?
@Hera They (vills) die in 2 hits from knights after you get the blacksmith (you get +1 dmg for free). You made the same comment/mistake in one of your first french guides ~2 months ago.
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 mom always told me not to argue with a god, but it's a bit suspicious that vills are left at 2 HP - the exact difference between having and not having blacksmith.
@@maciejzwolinski2381 French knight kills a vill in charge+1 attack because French has passive bonus attack damage after charge. Without charge or with not French charge it will kill a vill in 3 hits
@@zerga8132 hmmm damn, that seems to be the case then. I assume the duration of the buff is low enough that you might not get a second hit off in time. Either way Blacksmith guarantees a kill
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 I think the AI gets the textile upgrade which makes its villagers tankier. Probably that's why it's harder to kill vills when being controlled by the AI.
Awesome guide. Does this only work on open maps? or is it necesary to fish on hybrid maps. And how does this work agains players who tower up their base?
How do you navigate so quickly between your town hall and scouts? do you use the hotkeys? H for Townhall and control groups 1 and 2 for your scouts respectively? I hear the clicking sounds a lot when other professional players play the game, what hotkey are they using and why are they clicking so much? Thanks! Would you also make a video showing the build order all the way up to Imperial Age? Another video on French versus other civs would also be useful.

@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 tnx very much, but im struggling because so much mobility of CA and when he has his upgrades archers barely get cost efficient. im thinking of using Arbeletrer With Pavise like main force, and use their +5 armor Pierce in any combat with only springgards for backup (sure he Will make mangols ). U think can works? Tnx for the advice!!!

I saw a recent game from EGC winter championships where you go horsemen instead because of their newly buffed armor. The build order mostly looked the same but you only put 4 on gold, built school of cavalry with 3 gold vills, and went heavy on wood.
Hi Hera, what would you do if you were using this vs Chinese given their TC cannon; do you simply do the same but be more careful with the Knight health? Also, what about vs Rus Pro Scout build, do you adjust or simply execute the build as is? Last question, I assume if you're facing a Mongol player doing a Tower Rush, you have to first defend your gold, and then perhaps transition into this build afterward, or do you have to opt for a different Feudal follow up after defending the Mongol Tower Rush since you're presumably a bit behind no matter what?
Hi Hera. Great build order but I have a question for you. What should you do in a French mirror? Open with a barracks instead of an archery range to produce spearmen expecting your opponent to make knights as well?
Archers can easily destroy the spearmen. You just need to macro (control your units), protect your knights with archers and let them autoheal then continue the harassment of the the opponents villagers on gold and other resources. I just played against the AI and it created spearmen and I was able to protect my knights with my archers. The key is to produce your units and age as fast as possible then be the one to harass your opponent first and deny your opponent the critical resources that way, you will be ahead of your opponent.
I see that we dont need to mass the knights first, thats why i sometimes fail because the enemy got a spear mass ready before i even harrased them. On the other hand, with this build is there something we need to absolutely be cautious of, since it seems with this build, if done correctly, we should be winning most of our games,no?
Hi, I like the french knight rush, but when I face computers or people they destroy me easily with pikeman and I end up wasting huge amount of ressources and time, while the keep sending more troops, any tips ?
I started practicing this build order, works pretty well (silver rank actually). But in one of my previous games 1v1 against English I got immediately attacked by men at arms on my gold mine. I couldn’t even gather enough gold to age up, game over .. how do I defend this?
How about skipping archers and just massing knights with better micro ? I was building a Tower infront of enemy gold mine to help my knights escape while also doing a little bit of range dmg , I was doing it from 2 different spots and my opponent just have up
Firstly I am ignorant not arrogant. I'm new to this game and I don't find this build order very challenging. Which makes me believe I'm doing something wrong. Can someone please point out some parts where I can slip up? Is it the opposition changing strategies,?
It's hard to fight against the rus, can't stop oppenent go to castle age and defeated by castle age knights with horse archers. he has fewer knights than me but his archers are way better than mine.
So I was always getting my ass kicked playing as Mongols and Rus until l started playing as the French. Guess they’re more my style. It’s too bad I really like the Rus but they’re not that viable…
Why don't you use AI that isn't easy as anything great would have an army at the same time and will counter your units. not a really good representation on this with an easy AI when they sit back and do nothing. People need to know how to manage this aggression when faced with the enemy's army not just villages

We go sometimes for the same (friend french - me english), but he is going for early double stables. Its more impactful in 2on2 i think.

Exactly what I think EVERY new or low elo player, like me, is looking for. A exact strong basic foundation from which to build.

I'm pretty sure villager construction drop off rate happens at 2-3-4 vills as well it just gets worse the more you add.

vs rus u want archers vs their horse archers, and maybe some siege/pike can help too
