I love good UA-cam communities, always learn new stuff about things I've enjoyed for years or in this case decades, thanks for contributing this tidbit, never knew that
In case you wondered what Michael Jackson thought of Weird Al's parodies, he actually shares a writing credit on this song with Al - the only time Al collaborated with the original artist. Michael thoroughly enjoyed Al's parodies and the only song he declined permission when Al asked was "Black or White" because Michael thought the message of the original song was too important to make fun of.
The video is a beautiful shot-for-shot (in most of the exact same locations, wiith the same extras) as the original video. Al is so beloved that Michael of course would help him out with everything he could. A while back the alternate takes of Al singing in the bedroom were posted by Al himself, it's... odd.
Michael Jackson also agreed to give access to both the sets where he actually made the videos for Bad and Beat it, so that is another factor on why the videos are so similar :p
@@ArthurDentt-l6j Not the same. Yes, you can find many times Al worked with famous artists in the recording of his works. But I'm talking about creating the parody concept and writing it. Al is notorious for not taking other's suggestions for his work. This was a very rare exception.
Another fun fact: While "Beat It" had its guitar solo by the late, great Eddie Van Halen, for "Eat It", the guitar solo was done by the underappreciated classic rocker Rick Derringer. Also, as a hip-hop guy, you should do Trapped in the Drive-Thru. It's long, but you will be so glad you experienced it
oh... the guy that explodes is Derringer? I always thought weird Al wanted to have Eddie Van Halen in the parody too so I thought maybe that was him, but ok.
The thing with Bad and Beat it is that, when Al went o Michael to ask permission to parody his songs, Michael was so enthused he let Al use his sets and set him up with Michael's choreographer. They remained friends afterwards, too. But, even so, Al does his best to parody as much as possible, where at all possible.
If you dont mind reacting to a longer song, Albuquerque is great! It is an original and supposedly he made it to see if he could annoy his fans with this long song, but it is very well liked by most fans.
I needed to add that I have only seen one other of your videos. Just discovered like an hour ago. Anyway, I just found you are Chicago! Sister in Oak Park. I am a little over an hour west in the dung heap known as Rockford.
If Al is anything besides a genius he's also a perfectionist. He gets every detail spot on. From the lyrics and the cadence to the shooting location and sets. He doesn't release anything till he feels it's as perfect as he can get it. AL is the man!!!!! ✌️Peace✌️
Fun fact the fight they show in the video. In the original Michael Jackson Beat it. They actually had real gang members doing the fight part. So it would be real and authentic. It's true.
“Foil”! “Trapped In The Drive-Thru”! just a couple of suggestions for your next Weird Al consumption! Oh, and “Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me” is a great pastiche parody of Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf.
Eat it! Went up the charts as Beat it! was (finally) headed down. This was Weird Al's breakthrough hit. Those of us who spent Sunday nights glued to the Radio for Dr. Demento knew who Al was and we couldn't have been happier for him. A nerd like us had made it!
Scene for scene, YES watch them, he's not only got the cadence and emotion of the song, but scene for scene follows the original with hysterical, spastic accuracy. LOVE weird Al. He never makes the song/video worse or cheaper, just FUNNIER!
Lucky for you someone actually edited "Eat it" and "Beat It" music videos to play side by side. I picked up some small things in the video that I never noticed until I saw them side by side.
"Don't download this song" - a song made available at the time by Yankovic ONLY via download, back when pirate music sites were heavily under fire. It's not a parody, but an original work, and the lyrics are golden, lol.
“Living with a Hernia” is another one the original artist helped out in the creation of the music video. Check out James Brown’s “Living in America” before. Yep. Weird Al as James Brown. Good to see you back 👍
You need to do side by sides of M.J's original songs & Weird Al's parodies of this one & "Fat". It's amazing! Micheal let Al use the sets from both videos!!
You hit all the right notes, dude. From encouraging folks to go to the original artist's page to advocating watching the original video first, (I could kiss you for that) your videos are a real joy. Thank you!
I love these weird al reactions. I always thought of weird al as a low bar parody guy years ago but he is genius for the lyrics and how well he tweeks songs and yet makes them close to the original.
I like how you mentioned the picture falling, it actually wasn't supposed to happen but in final editing they decided to keep it in because it was funny
I continue suggestion the song, until you react to it: "I perform this way" a Parody of "Born this way". And no. The picture was not meant to fall down, but Weird Al liked it and kept it in.
I am literally watching this reaction while eating dinner. P.s: I would love to see you watch some of weird als show called the weird al show if you ever get to it. Yes he had his own talk show. It unfortunately was cancelled by cbs after only 1 season. P.s again: idk if you celebrate it or not but if you do have a happy easter this sunday. If not ignore this comment.
Love watching your Weird Al reactions. I'm going to suggest the song BoB. This song's video is a parody of Bob Dylan's music video for "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan (see if you can guess the theme of what is happening in the lyrics). But, of course there are many great Weird Al songs/videos.
Oh wow!!! I'm thinking I must have seen that, but it would have been years ago when it came out!! Thank you for mentioning it!! I'm going to find and listen to it right now!!! Thank you!!!
This song appeared on the album "In 3-D" which was reference to the original, last song on the album, "Nature Trail to Hell (In 3-D)" which was a B-movie slasher horror parody. This tied into the "Thriller" video/short film, so the concluding shot with the theatrical contacts was a direct reference to that.
One of my favorites that all most no one reacts to is “Craigslist”, one of Al’s newer style parodies. This one is done in the style of The Doors. Al channels Jim Morrison, and the late, great Ray Manzarek, the keyboard player for the Doors who gave them their signature sound, played keyboards on Craigslist.
If you react to "I lost on Jeopardy!" by Weird Al...which I highly recommend...not only do you need to watch the original video, "Our Love's in Jeopardy" by Greg Kihn Band, but you should also definitely watch the opening sequence for the Art Flemming version of the game show "Jeopardy!" I would have loved to hear the two gong notes at least once, and the guitar riff you hear before the original solo. Also was there another (animated) music video of this song? The first time I heard this song (and the first time I heard of "Weird Al" Yankovic) I remember a video where a cartoon character explodes at the end of the guitar solo.
Fun fact: the back up dancers are the same guys from beat it
Wow!! I never knew that!! That makes it even funnier, if that's possible!! Thanks!!
I love good UA-cam communities, always learn new stuff about things I've enjoyed for years or in this case decades, thanks for contributing this tidbit, never knew that
Same as the Teen Spirit video and James Brown video. Weird Al gets all the original backup crew.
That’s how big Weird Al really is. Impressive
I believe all the sets are the same too
In case you wondered what Michael Jackson thought of Weird Al's parodies, he actually shares a writing credit on this song with Al - the only time Al collaborated with the original artist. @@hammerman199374 ok. But that’s not the ONlY time he collaborated with the original artist. How would you know anyways? Are you his manager?!?
The picture on the wall, that falls, is of Doctor Demento
Fun fact: The red jacket was actually loaned to Al for this video from Jackson directly.
"Trapped in the Drive thru " is amazing, a must see!
"Your horoscope for today" is a hilarious original, and I suggest "Tacky" because it's shot in one long take with a bunch of comedians.
Vote up for this one
I agree, Tacky. That one is awesome.
Tacky is a great pick, but let's be honest, Cliff needs to go thorough his entire videography. The order doesn't matter much. (:
YES TO BOTH!
He did such a complete job love them. More please Smell like Nirvana.
Smells Like Nirvana is amazing. And, as you noted, you really should (re)watch Smells Like Teen Spirit beforehand.
Yay!!! I just asked him to check out Smells like Nirvana as well!! I'm hoping he does!!! Weird Al is pure genius!!!
It's long, but you will be so glad you experienced it
YES
Wow, I never knew Derringer did that solo. You're right, he's one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.
oh... the guy that explodes is Derringer? I always thought weird Al wanted to have Eddie Van Halen in the parody too so I thought maybe that was him, but ok.
@@ingolf82 I'm not sure about the guy I'm the video, but Derringer played it on the recording
@@ingolf82 The guy in the video is Jim West, and he's Al's guitar player. But yes, the solo was recorded by Rick Derringer.
You still need to react smells like nirvana
It’s coming.
@@CliffBeatsOfficial thank you
Watch the video first! Smells like Teen Spirit.
Kurt Cobain loved Al's parody
"What is this song all about..."
*Eddie Van Halen* plays the riff in the original *Beat It*
Well, he plays the solo, Steve Lukather from Toto played all the rest of the guitar stuff.
The thing with Bad and Beat it is that, when Al went o Michael to ask permission to parody his songs, Michael was so enthused he let Al use his sets and set him up with Michael's choreographer. I believe he's as ready as he can be for that one. I definitely wouldn't do that one early into a Weird Al journey
When I saw Weird Al in concert, he got to "lost my train of thought" and restarted the song from the beginning. Everyone loved it.
I believe that Al never made a video to Albuquerque but there is a fan based animation video that is pretty good.
@@KngOfTheBlind Yo, that is legendary troll shit.
Came here to comment the same or like the person that did. :D Such an epic journey of a song :D
I love these reactions! You should do "Foil", parodying "Royals". My kids and I love that one.
The bars for “Hardware Store” are FIRE. And it’s an original.
Weird Al''s stuff in the 80s and part of the 90s were classics. Perfect parody. I loved his take on Like a Virgin.
I needed to add that I have only seen one other of your videos. Just discovered like an hour ago. Anyway, I just found you are Chicago! Sister in Oak Park. I am a little over an hour west in the dung heap known as Rockford.
I preferred I Think I'm a Clone Now honestly.
If Al is anything besides a genius he's also a perfectionist. He gets every detail spot on. From the lyrics and the cadence to the shooting location and sets. He doesn't release anything till he feels it's as perfect as he can get it. AL is the man!!!!!

Fun fact the fight they show in the video. In the original Michael Jackson Beat it. They actually had real gang members doing the fight part. So it would be real and authentic. It's true.
Love it! One of my favorites is Living With a Hernia.
check out "living with a hernia" - a parody of James Brown's Living in America.
Living with a hernia is a fantastic parody.
Weird Al "Trapped In The Drive Thru" next, please?!
Bedrock Anthem is one of his parodies that makes me forget the original lyrics! It's a must watch!
Growing up in the 80's was freaking awesome! :)
42 years ago this month he debuted on national TV on the Tom Snyder show
“Foil”! “Trapped In The Drive-Thru”! just a couple of suggestions for your next Weird Al consumption! Oh, and “Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me” is a great pastiche parody of Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf.

The picture actually fell on its own. And of course they kept that take because it made it brilliant.
michael jackson loved his parodies many were done on the same sound stage
I love how like, if you watch the original Beat It video, then watch this one, it's the exact same actors playing the exact same roles
you should check out the side by side versions of Beat it and Eat It. It's uncanny how Al is dancing exactly how Michael Jackson is in the video
Fun fact: the ending frame of Eat It is a reference to the ending frame of Thriller
Scene for scene, YES watch them, he's not only got the cadence and emotion of the song, but scene for scene follows the original with hysterical, spastic accuracy. LOVE weird Al. He never makes the song/video worse or cheaper, just FUNNIER!
You gotta do trapped in the drive thru. With your sense of humor you will love it
Nope the picture wasn't meant to fall, it just did, and they left it in final cut.
Rick Derringer on lead guitar 🎸 He is best known for singing and playing guitar on Rock and Roll Coochie Coo.
Weird Al is underrated. 😃
I think you should check out 'Foil'
Parody of Lorde "Royals" with a conspiracy theory twist 😂
Excellent suggestion!
Oh my god. The guitar solo was hilarious! I really laughed out loud, when he blew up. I was dying, it was an amazing parody.
I can't watch Weird Al in his channel because it wasn't made available in my country. I'm glad I can watch it here with you. Thanks, Cliff.
classic! ♥
Lucky for you someone actually edited "Eat it" and "Beat It" music videos to play side by side. I picked up some small things in the video that I never noticed until I saw them side by side.
You should do a react to Weird Al's "Like a Surgeon", which is truly hilarious as well.
Weird al Albuquerque the music video was fan made but al has dubbed it as official cause it was so good
there is a side by side comparison video of Beat it and Eat it on youtube. It's hilarious and shows how much love Al and his crew put into these
MJ didn't want to give him permission to parody the video "Thriller" so he put it at the end of "Eat It".😂
"Don't download this song" - a song made available at the time by Yankovic ONLY via download, back when pirate music sites were heavily under fire.
It's not a parody, but an original work, and the lyrics are golden, lol.
An underrated one to check out is I love Rocky Road- a parody of a Joan Jett classic I love Rock n Roll
“How does he make these so good ?” - my answer being Weird Al’s friggin’ hilarious. 🤣
You need to watch the side by side videos for Eat It and Fat - they really show just how close AL got on all the details.
Gotta do his I Love Rocky Road.
Welcome back and thanks for offering your help.
“Living with a Hernia” is another one the original artist helped out in the creation of the music video.
Check out James Brown’s “Living in America” before.
Yep. Weird Al as James Brown.
Good to see you back 👍
Also Michael Jackson love weird Al so he let him use the sets for Beat It and Bad for Eat It and Fat.
You need to do side by sides of M.J's original songs & Weird Al's parodies of this one & "Fat". It's amazing! Micheal let Al use the sets from both videos!!
If you really like the comedy of Weird Al, then you really need to see his movie, called "UHF".
It's amazing how he sings that fast and he how comes up with these rimes
Trapped in the Drive Thru is one of the funniest parodies from Weird Al.
Bedrock Anthem is legendary, it’s a parody of Give It Away from the Red Hot Chili Peppers 😂
You hit all the right notes, dude. From encouraging folks to go to the original artist's page to advocating watching the original video first, (I could kiss you for that) your videos are a real joy. Thank you!
Hey it's my second favorite song from him that's crazy
The picture that falls is Dr. Demento
I love these weird al reactions. I always thought of weird al as a low bar parody guy years ago but he is genius for the lyrics and how well he tweeks songs and yet makes them close to the original.
You've got to check out his song called "Albuquerque" . It is eleven minutes long, but you will get a laugh out of it.
I still gotta recommend the Stuck in the Drive Through song, it's animated at 10 minutes long but it's so funny.
Not just Candace but TONE AND PITCH
The night Santa went crazy would be an amazing weird al song to react to
I’m so old I have the 45 vinyl of this.
Yay! Thanks!! ♥️
I like how you mentioned the picture falling, it actually wasn't supposed to happen but in final editing they decided to keep it in because it was funny
With all of the Michael Jackson videos you've been watching, you should definitely check out Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm
Weird Al and Michael Jackson are the Kings of all music.🎼
Brother I’m 80s kid… I would gladly welcome you to a true Long Island friendship.. your vid’s make me smile… many many many thanks
“Dare to be Stupid” would be an excellent example of Weird Al’s pastiche work. DEVO themselves said it was one of the most DEVO songs they never wrote
Gotta listen to I think I'm a clone now. Legendary lyrics 😂
I continue suggestion the song, until you react to it: "I perform this way" a Parody of "Born this way".
And no. The picture was not meant to fall down, but Weird Al liked it and kept it in.

Now check out I'll Sue Ya and Germs.
Living with a Hernia parody of Living in America, from Rocky 4. He used some of James Brown’s band and the same stage.
Love watching your Weird Al reactions. I'm going to suggest the song BoB. The picture in the background on the wall just at the end of the video is Dr Demento. A comedy radio host who premiered AL to the world.
Cliff Beats You Don't Love Me Anymore by Weird Al. Greatest love song ever!!! It's anti-love with a love ballad feel. It's his funniest song, imo
'Foil' please
I always wished he'd have done a Thriller parody. It's got so much potential. I am still suggesting One More Minute, and Weasel Stomping Day.
The night Santa went crazy you have to listen, it’s a real throw back song that most won’t get but it’s fucking hell-arious.
If you want something of his original works, try "one more minute". One of Al's personal favorites he did
Welcome back! Take care of yourself too. Get some serious sleep and hydrate. Great review, Weird Al is an amazing artist
2:41 - That picture was not meant to fall off, but they kept the take because it was funny.
no, that picture was not supposed to fall off that wall hahaha
Great reaction. Hope to see more Weird Al - looks like you're enjoying his stuff!
Vote for either Party in the CIA or Trapped in the Drivethrough next

almost* no one. 🤦🏻♀️
You need to review UHF the only feature length movie starring Weird Al. It's like a mindtrip through Al's brain and a cult classic.
You should do 'Your horoscope for today'. It's one of his originals, and I wanna see your reaction to your own horoscope.
your Weird Al and Pentatonix reactions are my faves!! keep it up!! 👏👏
That is actually the same set that they used to make the "Beat It" video.
If you react to "I lost on Jeopardy!" by Weird Al...which I highly recommend...not only do you need to watch the original video, "Our Love's in Jeopardy" by Greg Kihn Band, but you should also definitely watch the opening sequence for the Art Flemming version of the game show "Jeopardy!" You can find it pretty easy on UA-cam.
Yes, the Weird Al video predates the Alex Trebek version of Jeopardy!
Best Regards!
One story I read about is that Al's song helped them decide to bring the show back on the air.
2020/2021 version:
Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it
Open up your mouth and feed it
Have some more ???, have some more kale
It doesn't matter if it's fresh or stale
Alternately the third line could be about the person complaining about getting fat, and the last line would be "If you don't eat it, I'll make you watch Cats", even though that's a little dark for Weird Al.
Also am I the only one who thinks the middle section before the guitar solo is too short? I would have loved to hear the two gong notes at least once, and the guitar riff you hear before the original solo.
Also was there another (animated) music video of this song?
The first time I heard this song (and the first time I heard of "Weird Al" Yankovic) I remember a video where a cartoon character explodes at the end of the guitar solo.
2:40 The picture falling down was an accident, but Al said to keep it, as it WAS funny.
