Dueling protests over the issue of transgender policy in schools held in cities across Canada

- A planned series of protest marches against transgender ideology in schools held across Canada Wednesday were met with crowds affirming their support for transgender youth, as rhetoric and debate over sex education curriculum grows louder.
In Toronto, hundreds gathered north of Queen’s Park as part of the Million March 4 Children, chanting “leave our children alone,” while hundreds more gathered in opposition.
Opposing rallies were also held in Halifax, Ottawa, New Brunswick, and Vancouver.
“I’m here because I think it’s important for parents to have a say in what is being taught in school,” said one protester participating in the Million March 4 Children.
“If I had the kind of education that can be provided today when I was a kid, it would have saved a world of hurt, depression, anxiety - and we need to make sure we have that kid,” said a pro-trans counter-protester.

Parents wanting to know what's going on with their children in schools is not hate, as the gender ideology claims.
Most rational people know that it is not hate, but the LGBTQ+ community are constantly looking for opportunities to push their ideology onto other people. This community is one of the best protected minority groups in society and we have pride season to celebrate and embrace them. Yet, they are still out here attacking the millions of people who are protesting against this idea of incorporating sex and gender ideology in the children's curriculum.
I've seen videos of LGBTQ+ protestors chanting "we are coming for your children." These are the same people who claim to be protecting children from their parents. Most of them probably do not have children nor will they have them. The LGBTQ+ community is going to lose a lot of goodwill over this from the general public. The vast majority of people do not believe in pandering to a minority group that represents less than 10% of all individuals in society. You can teach children about acceptance, compassion, and empathy without pushing the SOGIE agenda onto them. It's called having human decency and respect. Not a complicated concept to impart on children.
Anyone who believes that's what this is about is extremely gullible
Imagine the confusion I had when I walked into my first male gay bar and everyone looked like me. I was taught something much different from my ignorant parents.

Shouldn't they find out exactly what they're accusing the education system of doing before they proclaim them guilty? BTW the entire motivation of this 'protest' is hatred of trans people and gay people, and it sticks out like a sore thumb. You can hear it in their voices. They don't even know what they're accusing schools of doing, and allowing such a non-protest only stirs up suspicion and disdain which is the purpose of it.

These thought processes are psychotic, and i genuinly think theyre abusive to kids.
The “threat” of suicide has been proven to be inaccurate. Leave the kids alone and allow them to grow up to be whatever, whoever they want to be. Give them a chance to become an adult, so they can make an informed, mature, emotionally balanced decision.
The idea that schools are teaching children about the explicit act of sex between two men or two women was proven to be false.
Source disproving that suicide is linked to transphobia and homophobia?
Suicide among gay people esp men is much higher than heterosexuals (for trans people its skyrocket high, like nearly 50% have attempter at some time). Now they want to twist that to say its because they don't feel safe etc but that's propaganda. Its more because there's more mental health issues and this one huge reason to keep this stuff away from Children. If they want to manufacture more gay people by grooming and exposing children to it just watch how bad those suicide numbers will get in 10 years even. Secondly, the kids not feeling safe bit to speak kto parents is ridiculous, children wouldn't even know what gender or gay is if the teachers weren't already speaking to them about it!

Yup and anorexics have just as high a risk so why not support and ally with that dillusion?
I really don't understand the logic of these government bodies. On one hand, they strongly emphasize that engaging in sexual activity with a minor is a serious crime that is universally condemned. Such actions not only harm the minor involved but also have severe legal consequences. It is essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of children and uphold the laws designed to protect them. Any sane person will never dispute this fact.
However, on the other hand, they are pushing forward rather very strongly with an equal crime by granting full power and rights to these minors to alter their biological gender however they wish without their parents' consent. Isn't it logical for these minors to wait until they reach the age of maturity and then decide if that action is really in their best interest for the rest of their lives? Why is the first scenario branded as a heinous crime while the second is not only considered normal but also deemed the right of every human to exercise, even if that human happens to be a minor? This inconsistency represents, not only for me but for all the sane people around the world, a sheer double standard!
er, no. As a minor the most you can do is take puberty blockers, which are reversible. Also, the term for the biological aspect is "sex" and the term for the way a person's mind works is "gender".
Precisely. There is no logic to their arguments. Their ideology needs to be thrown by the wayside.

My kid is my responsibility and not an institution responsibility. Everybody is free to have and live the life they want. But nobody should impose one way to someone else. @@verbalspaghettigaming7570what kind of a stupid af question is that!?? Shows the level of intellect some accusors of this nonexistent hate have! If another adult is talking to your children about sexuality or keeping secrets from you, they need to be investigated and fired. There’s no place for that in school, just like religion shouldn’t be forced upon children. Only someone with ill intentions tries to have secrets with children that aren’t their own. It’s grooming and it’s confusing children, which is what ACTUALLY causes mental issues later on in life. Let children figure things out on their own when they’re old enough to fully understand themselves and others
If your child is keeping things from you it says you're a bad parent who doesn't have your own child's trust. You're the issue no one else.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
As Muslim parents, we find ourselves standing at a critical juncture where the very values and principles we hold dear are under siege within the educational institutions that should be nurturing the minds and hearts of our children. Teachers, school administrators, and certain politicians must be held accountable for a disconcerting trend-the concealment of our Muslim students' lapses in faith and non-adherence to religious practice while at school. This silence is not just a disregard for our faith; it is an affront to the core principles of our belief.
In Islam, the duty of parents to guide their children in matters of faith and moral character is a sacred one. We teach our children the significance of daily prayers, the honor of the hijab, and the profound values that our faith embodies. These are not mere cultural practices; they are the pillars upon which our spiritual lives rest. And, as parents, it is our divine right and solemn responsibility to instill them in our children.
Yet, we stand witness to a disturbing phenomenon where teachers exercise discretion in not immediately informing parents about their children's religious failings. This discretion, however it is couched, amounts to collusion between the teacher and child-an assault on parental authority and the moral values we have every right to instill in our children.
We must make it unequivocally clear: In our society, parents have been entrusted with the divine responsibility of nurturing their children's religious upbringing. It is not a matter of intrusion; it is an act of love, devotion, and a duty enshrined in our faith. When educators choose to withhold information about a child's lapse in faith, whether through neglecting prayers, removing the hijab, or failing to observe other religious practices, they not only betray our trust but undermine the very essence of our faith.
Islam teaches us the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of life. When educators remain silent about these lapses in religious practice, they not only deprive us of the opportunity to fulfill our sacred duty but also perpetuate a culture of negligence.
Let us draw a parallel between this situation and a parent's right to be informed by the school of any change in the gender expression of their children while at school. Just as parents have the right to be informed about matters that impact their children's well-being, we, as Muslim parents, have the right to be informed about issues that impact our children's faith and moral character.
Moreover, it is crucial to emphasize that, in our faith, a child should not have the autonomy to decide whether or not they should perform their prayers or remove the hijab. These are not choices a child should make for themselves; they are religious obligations that are to be instilled and enforced by parents and reinforced by the educational institutions that we entrust with our children.
We call upon teachers, school administrators, and politicians to reconsider their stance on this matter. Let us not waver in our commitment to honesty, accountability, and the preservation of parental authority. This is not a plea for tolerance; it is a resolute call for an inclusive and honest dialogue, one that respects the sacred responsibility of Muslim parents.
May Allah grant us the strength and wisdom to uphold our values and fulfill our duties as parents, and may our educational institutions heed this call for the sake of our children's faith and moral character.
JazakAllahu Khairan (May Allah reward you with goodness)

@@AIHumanEquality I acknowledge your response, but I must stress the seriousness of the concerns expressed in my post. The issues discussed are not merely a matter of "calming down." They revolve around the fundamental principles of our faith, the rights of parents, and the well-being of our children.
Islam teaches us to be steadfast in upholding the values and principles that define our faith. As Muslim parents, we have a solemn duty to guide our children in matters of faith, including the requirement of wearing the Hijab and practicing prayer at schools, to uphold their moral character. This is a responsibility we take seriously, and it is not one that can be brushed aside lightly.
The issues raised in my post touch upon the very core of our beliefs and the future of our community. In a world where our faith is often challenged, it is imperative that we address these concerns with the gravity they deserve.
I respect your perspective, but I implore you to consider the weight of this matter and join us in the effort to protect and preserve our faith, values, and practices, including the wearing of the Hijab and the observance of prayers at schools. It is only by addressing these issues head-on that we can ensure a future where our children grow up with a strong foundation in Islam.
May Allah guide us all in our endeavors to safeguard our faith.

Funny you should say that religion shouldn't be forced on kids in school, because that's exactly what's funding this march: socially conservative Muslim activists, and Christian Nationalist groups and evangelicals led by the Liberty Coalition Canada. They want prayer and religious teachings brought into public schools, and they have a fundamentalist wing that is raising money to run conservative political candidates with the goal of “calibrating the laws to align with Biblical principles.” They also got free promotion from anti-abortion advocates, convoy participants, anti-vaxxers, and a litany of far-right kooks who are trying to bring culture wars to the classroom.
When I was in high school some 20 odd years ago, I knew of one openly gay student out of a school population of 900 kids. After graduation there were dozens more in my graduating class that came out, as they finally found the confidence and community support to reveal their true gender identities away from the crucible of high school, knowing that at the time they would have been harassed, bullied, and beaten for revealing their gender orientation. But they went for years hiding their true selves from their family, friends, and teachers, and confided afterwards that they were miserable and lonely for much of that time. That is why sex ed and gender inclusive health classes are so vital to the students, because it's offering them a safe setting to discuss and learn about themselves, instead of struggling alone in silence. It's not "indoctrination" or "grooming" kids, it's giving them the tools and the language to understand their own bodies, it's teaching them about consent, and it's creating an awareness and tolerance among the student body to not be so reactive or fearful of LGBTQ+ people.
If the parents object to that, they can instruct their kids as they see fit in their own homes. But to force a narrow viewpoint that is in accordance with religious fundamentalism upon all other students and their instructors for the sake of avoiding uncomfortable conversations around the dinner table is not a valid course of action. Gay, lesbian, trans, and intersex people will continue to exist whether it's being taught in schools or not. Taking a proactive step toward preparing young adults for the realities they face before they graduate from high school is far better than ignorance and avoidance.
Wonderful to see parents of all faiths getting together in unison to protect children.
To not be mini adults.
For children to be simply children.
No one is "indoctrinating kids". Let's be clear about that. You need to LISTEN to each other. I"m not trans or gay. I'm heterosexual and I want the yelling to stop and sane people get in a room and TALK and LISTEN to each other. Both sides have made this a huge deal and a mess. I blame the LGBTQ and the overtly Conservative people who are yellling and putting their kids in this nonesense. Talk and explain yourselves to each other. Yelling accomplishes diddly squat. I have heard the other side of this and they are NOT trying to indoctrinate kids. You need to hear that part.

Also interesting to think about the words indoctrination vs education. They basically mean the same thing but we use one for ideas we don’t like and one for ideas we do. When the Nazis came for the institute on May 6, 1933, Hirschfeld was out of the country. Giese fled with what little he could. I am in my early 30s and we were taught sex education after gr 5-6. science in gr 1 was volcano studies and learning about solids, liquids, gas etc. if they are taught about gender identity from age 4-5 it will actually confuse them more, than if they were taught about it later on when they are 15-16 etc
It's the NOT being told ...
You really need to read up on what is happening in the school system to children. It is far past the point of just telling kids about the existence of Trans people. The ideology is being actively promoted to children in the forms of highly sexualized graphic books, active promotion and affirmation of Trans gender identity to children far too young to make a serious decision on their own, and activities promoting the LGBTQ lifestyle to young children in various forms. School should be no place for this, especially not without parental consent.
because they're uncomfortable with the idea that people, more specifically their own children could possibly not fall into the 2 gross boxes they've imposed. and they somehow believe that their children existing against the grain was done by the school instead of addressing that their child is just different and always has been.
their perspective on gender is like a kid's block puzzle. the square peg goes in the square hole. the circle goes in the circle hole. unfortunately there are more pegs than just circle and square and they deny that with all their might
So happy to find a reasonable comment on here. I've heard so many happy "Oh my god, they're actually teaching that in school?" comments from my mom, and she's delighted to talk things through with me. I'm sure my kids will eventually learn more than I knew at their age, and that's awesome too.
If there's one good thing about this, it's that it united people of all races😭😭
LMAOOO FR
The children of the “parental rights” parents at my children’s school are major bullies. They are attacking anyone who isn’t the same as them. They are hurting children who are not the same race and not the same religion has them.
This is not uniting races.
@@carlyar5281I'm sorry to hear that. Intolerance should not be condoned.
@@carlyar5281 An anomaly, but I condome this none the less.
Lets not detract from the hundreds of instances of unity for one group of bullies.
Why do I feel not a lot of people have actually read the curriculum?
Because they haven’t.
Amount of misinformation and disinformation is disgusting.
As a parent of children in the public school system, I am furious with people who don’t have children and don’t have any clue about what’s been taught in school coming after an attacking what my children are learning.
Teachers have a great deal of input in to what the students are taught. The curriculum is just an outline and teachers always have input in to what materials the kids will be exposed to. I think this is good btw
The curriculum doesn’t stop certain teachers from manipulating and confusing your children
@@carlyar5281 to be fair nobody knows exactly what is being taught to other peoples children as every teacher is different. I really like my children’s teachers this year but the teacher my youngest son had last year was horrendous. The amount of personal information she shared with the class during sex ed was creepy. I didn’t even know my teachers first names growing up and my son knew strange intimate details of her personal life that crossed a line for me. Transferring to a spanish immersion school has been a great choice because I like the old school approach many of the teachers have.
Part of the problem is that people see one bad example and they think it is indicative of the whole system, which is usually not true.
@@beckee6282 and I think that’s the point. I’m a former teacher, I have taught in Ontario, Abu Dhabi, London and Germany. I think Ontario could stand to learn from other curriculums and their teacher assessment techniques. If teachers are free to teach the curriculum however they want, without any standards and without consistent observations, especially when it comes to ensuring proper progress development for each individual child within a class, therein lies the problem. I personally love the UK curriculum and it’s assessment of teachers. They make sure each individual students needs are met within the framework of lessons and teachers are held to a high standard. So no matter the topic, the students reach their zone of proximal development. When teachers are left to their own devices, who knows what’s going on in the classroom, especially when it comes to such an important and potentially confusing topic. The curriculum itself, and I’m talking only health and safety, is a 320 page document. It’s not 320 pages because it’s exhaustive, but rather it has a lot of info, some of it pointless. It has so much info in fact, that I guarantee majority of teachers aren’t reading it. The portions I read however had no confusing and/or abusive information. But it was stressing the importance of respecting others, valuing our bodies, understanding what it’s going through and not discriminating against one another. So it’s not the curriculum that’s the problem, but making sure we hold our teachers to high standards in how they teach… in my humble opinion.
Teacher!
Leave them kids alone!
❤❤❤❤leave kids alone please
No place for hate, trans rights are human rights
I don’t think anybody is debating that or against it one group don’t want their kids to be thought about gender identity and they have all the right it’s their kids their right and responsibility
You can't force any child to get sex education
@amangupta2905 so you think it's okay if kids are ignorant about what's happening if they get sexually abused?
@@Davidh741 if they don't want their kids to learn about black people is it okay for them to demand the school never discusses black historical figures and not accept black students? Just like they used to during segregation?
@@amangupta2905with that logic, you can’t force any kid to learn math. I don’t wanna learn math and you can’t make me! 😡😡😡😡
Parents should make the decisions on wether their kids are indocrinated or educated
Please explain the ways in which you believe kids are being "indoctrinated" at school
So you're gonna tell religious institutions to stop letting kids into their places of worship until they are of legal age to decide if they want to believe in a deity? Because that looks a whole lot like indoctrination to me.
Stop watching Matt Walsh and Ben Shapiro.
As a kid who was outed in school and then when others disrupted the class by shouting out slurs at me until the school told me they'd have to call home cause I was the source of the disruption. It's not okay for schools to out kids to their parents. I was forced to come out before the school did it for me. And I'm lucky I have good parents who did their best to support and understand me. It was still awful being put in that situation.
If you want to protect kids, let them be. Let them learn. Restricting learning only demonstrates a hate towards a minority group.
And before you say being taught is making your kids that way. I didn't learn about it in school, and I'm still a genderqueer bisexual.
Gender identity and sexuality are something you're born with, even if your body or traditional social expectations don't match
Yes. Exactly. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤
You need so many more likes.
I think that's the real crux of this issue. One side wants you to be included and understood, free to be who you were born being.. the other wants you back in the closet, harassed and bullied for being different.
I know plenty of cis straight people who learned about LGBTQ+ and they're still cis and straight. So I'd like to see them explain that one.
@@AIHumanEquality crazy how learning about labels and pronouns doesn’t turn a person gay 🤷♀️

The world's largest pediatric gender clinic, the Tavistock in the UK, is set to shut down in 2024 with at least 1000 lawsuits pending
Sweden and Finland have banned the use of blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for those 18 and under except for extreme cases and even then only for research purposes.
The NHS has changed many of its guidelines around gender dysphoria even going as far to discourage basic social transition in prepubertal kids....
With all of these changes in Europe why are we teaching this to kids and promoting this to society(adults included) at all?
The Canadian gov rarely does anything sensible, instead it's often the opposite as to appear progressive.
the school should not decide a parents childs sexuality
Pretty sure this is a reach. But I won't research it lol.
