Welcome back to another video on Legal Banter.
This video is a part of my series titled “Learning Law through Films”.
Herein I would be discussing Police, the regulating Law and how far in reality does the Police follow it. I’ll explain this with the help of movies/ films based on police to illustrate the public perception about police. Through this will try to establish a relationship between the real and reel life of Police.
Police, along with Judiciary and Jails forms an integral part of the Criminal Justice System.
Consequently, Police interacts and functions on the following three parameters that influences their interaction with public -
a. Investigation, enquiry and collection of evidence
b. Arrest and detention
c. Use of Force to maintain Law and Order
in Part I of this, I have explored the above-mentioned two functions from a legal point of view and explained through movie examples.

In Part II, I have discussed the Use of Force by Police as one of their functions and medium of interaction with public. this video covers excessive use of force in the form of custodial violence, custodial deaths and encounters.
The purpose of this video is to help the viewer understand the source of Police power, identify the lacunae and its real vs. reel perception. This is done to understand how far our cinema is influenced or influences our Police.

Bla bla bla..... Only and only one change we need in our police station cell.... There must me cctv cameras in each cell of every police station... Also there shoul be bodycam on every police officers....
