    I have been wanting to try this fixative but haven't had the chance to yet. I have tried their fixative for soft pastels though and it is hands down the best I have ever tried for soft pastels. It doesn't discolor the pastels at all (which is huge with soft pastels) and holds really well! So I'm not surprised that their fixative for oil pastels is also top notch!

      That’s great to hear. Have you tried the spectrafix fixative for soft pastels? I use that for charcoal and pastels and it works really well. I’ll be reviewing that too. I’m wondering how the sennelier soft pastel one compares to the spectrafix one?

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay 2 роки тому

      @@NaomiCoutureArt I do have the Spectrafix, but haven't tried it on soft pastels yet because I haven't worked with soft pastels in a while. I need to transfer my Spectrafix to a fine mist sprayer, I bought the sprayer a while back but haven't transferred it yet. I hear a lot of great things about the Spectrafix though, and from my understanding it is supposed to be less poisonous than other fixatives. So If it does work better on soft pastels then my plan is to switch to that completely. I love the Sennelier but it is really bad to breathe in , so it would be nice to use something a bit more healthy.

      @@CautionArtistatPlay interesting to know. I use mine in a fine mist sprayer as well! I’ll probably have that review out next week. I might have to get the sennelier soft pastel one to compare sometime 😄

    A can of this spray is almost as expensive as a box of 12 sticks of Sennelier oil pastels in my area, if it were available. Noone uses it in my area, even professional pastel artists use Schwarzkopf Taft 4 high quality hairspray which works excellently and a lot more affordable, it's not cheap but reasonably priced. If you use this Sennelier fixative the spray costs a lot more than the actual pastel paint you put onto the paper or canvas 😀

      I live in Canada and can’t remember how much I paid for this spray. I know it wasn’t more then 20$ I have noticed prices on a lot of art supplies have gone up. I would check Amazon for your country. It may not be cheap now but I add things to my wishlist and wait for them to go on sale ☺️

    I’m not sure where to spray my artwork because I know fixatives smell strongly haha. Perhaps on the patio. That being said, seems like this fixative worked well! I may try their fixative for soft pastel since many people in your comment section are praising it.

    havent tried that brand of oil pastel fixative, but have tried their soft pastel fixative and it does work very well
    fixative stinks so much we were not supposed to spray it in class, go the the spray room with its exhaust, but since it was a few floors away people sprayed it in class and hoped the teacher wouldnt show up lol

      Haha yeah I didn’t realize how asexual the smell would be! The product does work great though and I’m impressed it only took two coats to fix everything because I had quite a lot of layers on there.

    Oui je l ai ce spray et j en suis très contente il fixe très bien les pastels , ils ne collent plus 👌 et il ne change pas les couleurs . Je cherche maintenant un vernis très brillant pour pastel à l huile avez vous un conseil svp ?

    • @NaomiCoutureArt
      @NaomiCoutureArt  Рік тому +1

      I have never used a varnish on my oil pastels so I can’t recommend one. I wonder if you look into ones that are good for oil paints? That may work but I try it on a separate piece of paper first to test it so you don’t ruin a good art piece.

      I wasn't expecting that smell! I use the Spectrafix one which is odorless and non toxic so in my head I was thinking no big deal lol. You can argue with results though!

    • @sylviasummerful
      @sylviasummerful 2 роки тому +2

      @@NaomiCoutureArt I paint with multiple coloring material so I tried all of them. colored pencil will have a shiny surface with only one time spay, the color won't messed up. SAKURA liner gonna be a mess so if you are going to use it for details or highlights better use it after spay, or just use POSCA
