      @@fadialdajjani9314, there have been a LOT of changes in your country since 2014!
      I visited the first time in 2016, when I returned last August, parts of Tashkent were unrecognisable.

    why call it a stan country? it sounds derogatory to me personally as an Uzbek. There are several countries in Europe and other continents which share the same ending "-land" in their names, such as England, Scotland, Poland, Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Thailand and some more, but nobody calls them "Land countries", or one of the Lands. Generalizing countries is not really ok

    • @ToyyinnAuslander
      @ToyyinnAuslander  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for your perspective, let me explain:
      When we refer to 'Stan' countries, we are not categorising necessarily on the basis of a name; rather, we are doing so on a unique set of attributes common to the countries of Central Asia.
      The 'Stan' countries is a convenient moniker for that unique region which straddles the old Silk Road and is composed of a continuous Perso-Turkic ethnicity that is geographically disparate from the old Ottoman Empire. Their culture, history, and languages form a unique monolith...of sorts.
      Certainly, generalising countries with malice is not okay, but there are lots of categorisations like this in various parts of the world (the Low countries, the Andeans, the Balkans, et cetera) that derive from names, geographical similarities, and other shared attributes and have no negative connotation.
      There is no intent to demean or reduce.
