Hi my fellow potty people Nat and Trace, Happy New Year to you guys! your kiln openings are so much fun and always so many beautiful pieces. Really love the pink flower bowl and all the duckies, your and painting is gorgeous. Also Trace's refire is amazing! She has inspired me to try a sgraffito plate again, I am a hand builder hand do kiln openings but I'm not as productive as you guys 😊 ❤
Super fun Kiln opening again! You two are a hoot! Love that you keep doing your hand painting and that you love it so much. I was missing Sarah Amos as well, so I sent her an email asking if she was okay and she was just busy. Come back, Sarah! Love your idea of selling your bisque kits. I hope it's a nice money maker for you. Tracy, your black and white plate at the end is gorgeous. Happy New Year! All the best on your pottery journey!
Gosh I love the bowls with the altered rims! The flower looking bowl is my favorite and of course the plate!! It’s just amazing!! You can not use the cone 7 again becasue the cones melt due to time and temperature so it wouldn’t be accurate. I absolutely love your ending!! I’m so happy to have found you two. You’re the pottery duo that always makes us laugh. I enjoy you so much. Have a blessed new year!! Omg was that for me!?! Aaw thank you sooo much!! I have been doing this all for soo long and I just try to share what I know so others don’t have to make the same mistakes I did. Thanks again!!
Love the ducks! As to your question on the cones, I'm NOT an expert, but it is my understanding that cones don't just indicate heat, they indicate heat WORK, which is heat over time. So reusing a cone will give a false reading, since it has already experienced a given amount of heat work. Your hand painting is coming along nicely! I don't think it looks childish at all. Personally, I learned a lot from Paula McCoy's videos, and am working on developing my hand painting techniques. Another great load, ladies! Happy New Year and thank you for sharing!
AMAZING Kiln Opening Video AGAIN!!! Woot-woot!! LOooooVE the Soft Red and River Birch bowl...you know me and pink...it's just gorgeous!! and nice surprise that Trace like the PINK too!! Is she joining the Pink Sista Club!! Haha...Sorry about the melt down bowl, bummer.. kiln wash or not its soo much work! Loving all the moulds..Something that I want to try one day! And GURL, if you win the lottery YOU BETTER come visit!! I'd love to meet you too!xo
Oh believe me u r first stop then we will road trip!! Yeah I’m keeping the pink bowl. Can’t help myself!! Just made more slip. Cannot WAIT to cast more molds!!
Omg I just love you!!! Thank you so much ❤ I LOVE your work too and your energy is so bubbly and alive! Wouldn’t it be amazing to meet somebody with all of us?! Maybe we can make that happen sometime-like a little pottery get together or convention! Anyway, I hope you have a fun, creative and prosperous new year!! Xoxoxoxo ❤
As best I understand, witness cones measure heatwork and not temperature, so even if they haven't bent, they've started to undergo chemical change. This might result in an inaccurate indication of what goes on in the subsequent firing. Hope that helps!
I have one potter to add to your list. Tiffanie Helmer at Hobble Creek Pottery. I think you and she have similar tastes. By the way, thank you so much for sharing. Love you and Trace! Happy New Year!
I love the resurgence of slip molds in the clay world. Shelby Sherritt started the trend...Thanks for the fun!
