I just bought these on Amazon today. But after reading the reviews I thought I blew it! I checked out for reviews here and found yours. Which sets my mind at ease. Thanks. I read a couple bad reviews on Amazon. I think they didn't know about washing out the seizing before using. Because they complained about them not holding watercolor paint. Your demonstration showed them better than my current cheap brushes.
Thanks Lindsay. I do not need more brushes, I do not need more brushes. I do not need more BRUSHES. I definitely have a brush problem. Maybe there's a support group? 🤔
While it’s always nice to have options, I feel like giving this to a beginner might give them too much choice. Too much many brushes so they worry about picking the right one instead of having just 4 or 5 and being able to get going without being overwhelmed.
This looks like an ok starter set but I'd lean more on spending $25.00 on fewer better brushes. Those unfinished light handles will get to you more than you might think. 25 is a lot for most beginners. Spend 12 on four better brushes and have money left to add to your paints and paper budget.
I think these are also available in the same set with black painted handles, so that might fix the issue with unfinished or clear coated wooden handles picking up color. I’m thinking about picking up a set of these to try the different shapes and see what I like before choosing some more expensive brushes
I like the brush sizes on the wallet so you can find what you want easily (as long as you put them back in the right place the last time you uses them, as you say! 😁). It's funny you should mentiok the brush protectors because I've been gradually discarding mine in the recycling this week. 😊
They are really small, they may fall out of or less up the recycling machines. I think they may need to be trashed or use them as a base for scrap fabric beads.
I don’t need more brushes. But you’re a very convincing reviewer, lol. I almost bought synthetic sables yesterday but ultimately decided my golden and white taklons are just fine.
I keep doing the same thing Amy. I have a lovely set of talons that carry a ton and have great spring and release so nice and evenly. I look at synthetic kolinsky and want them but go why? My mimik squirrel and these taklon are great!
Lindsay, would you say that the slots for the brushes are big enough to hold pencils, colored pencils and water brush or markers or fountain pen? Anything someone might use to do their original sketch so they could have all their implements in one place if they didn't need all the brushes? The handles look kind of thinner than pencils but I really can't tell from a video. And if your pen has a clip you could probably clip it to the loop/slot even if it didn't fit inside
Some of the bigger slots should but 5he smaller ones your probably need to use the pocket clip. You can buy brush or pencil rolls empty that will probably meet your needs better.
Looks Nice set for beginners 🙂. Hot a question... I ve hot a comb Waterville rush in a cheap set, never used IT cause I don t know hoe r when I van use the brush for...is IT a Nice brush for foillage or is it for other kinds of styles of Watercolors brushwork. Have you ever used one? Any tips? I thought besides Lindsay , there are several seasoned painters in this comment section ❤️ 🤗 any ideas ? IT s very werd brush, like some kid had Tried to cut their own Hair and managed to end up with werd fencelike grunge😁. I thought maybe fur or grass?

Another awesome video Lindsay, thank you for advice.♥️♥️♥️♥️

Thanks for the brush review. It's nice to see that there are decent affordable brushes that a beginner can try without spending too much.
Great review once again. Thank you.

Good point. The handles have a clear lacquer on them but are not stained.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking for a roll up for brushes for a young family member.this might do the trick.
Tfs.
Thanks for the review. I also wanted to say that I saw the Mama Mia spoof video and you were great in it=)

The best supplies to use are what you already own (if you have some that is)

Looks Nice set for beginners 🙂.

Sounds like a wisp brush. Use for grasses
my set just arrived earlier, nice set 😄but a few brushes are a bit stiff should I wash em before use ?
Yes, that is the sizing to protect the hairs. Wash with warm water and soap.
Well I’ve got my watercolours and my brushes both of which u did videos on Lindsay😄where should I start?
I have a beginners watercolor playlist on my channel.
@@thefrugalcrafter thanks I’ll check it out 😄
On the video, are you saying Creative Art brush for the wash?
Found them. You are saying Creative Mark. A hake brush? How would you separate this set for watercolor and gouache?
Smaller brushes for gouache
¿I can use these brushes to paint in oil?
Yes you can but they might wear out sooner than a stiffer bristle. I'd use them for blending and final details.
Can I use them with ink.
Sure
I buy it,,$42.49 +tax expensive for me
25 dollars is budget? 😅even for me in uk that seems pricey lol
It's $1 per brush. That's pretty low for brushes that paint well, hold a point and don't shed.
@@thefrugalcrafter ah okay, that’s good per brush
Lol, I just spent 25.00 on one brush, these are very budget friendly
