  • The A5S is the updated version of the popular A5 3D printer from JGAurora. It boasts some great features such as a large 305x305x320 build volume, textured glass bed, filament runout, power resume and a colour touch LCD screen.
    In this review, I go over the changes and features, assembly and first prints, a range of test prints in PLA, ABS, PETG and TPU. I then summarise the pros and cons of using this 3D printer.
    All prints in this test were done with the pre configured slicing profile for the A5 within Simplify3D 4.1. The SD card contains assembly/slicing instructions, as well as Cura and a JGAurora slicer.
    This printer performed well during my review period. It was easy to setup and required little to no adjustment to maintain print quality.
    This printer was provided for review by JGAurora. All opinions expressed are my own.

    Great review as always Michael. As it often the case, you reminded me to do something on my CR-10 .... check the X axis is level, will be checking that before the next print. Thanks mate.
    On another note, I've been talking with Johnny from Keenovo about the heater upgrade, he's been very helpful and quick to respond to my questions. Keenovo recommend sandwiching the heater to the bed, so I've managed to get hold of an aluminium sheet to do that, along with some cork (which should arrive Monday or Tuesday) to insulate the under side. I also suggested that he might want to include some instructions on the website for other customers and he has agreed to do it, great news
    I've also replaced the bed springs with solid mounts.

    I have this new jg maker a5s. I had no issues printing the first item. The bolt. I understand we need to convert files to gcode. WE downloaded cura 4.3. We bring the file into the cura...slice then save as a gcode. We also changed the printer to jgaurorah a5 and a5s. the sd card was reformated so clean when we add the file. when trying to print it doesnt work. all wonky. But when reprinting the bolt it works fine.
    Help please. Thank you

    Does the 3d printer need to be ventilated. I bought one but have not put it together yet.

    Didn't the ABS prints prematurely lose bed adhesion when the bed heater turned off due to running out of filament?

    Totally newbie question here, but what exactly is a "thermal runaway protection"? I mean how does it work? What does it do? Does the fact that it's not present here, make this printer dangerous or unsafe in any manner?

    Jgaurora A3s or Ender 5? Please anyone can help?

  • @blackwolfecc
    @blackwolfecc 5 років тому

    I like my Ender 3’s, but Im finding that they constantly need maintenance or minor tweaking after a long run, or a series of small runs done back to back. It would be nice to have a printer that just works, with minimal tweaking. This seems to fit the bill more than I expected. Might have to put my plans to get a cr10s on hold.
    Excellent video as always thank you!

      I've had a few printers from different companies, both FDM and SLA ranging from $200-$2000. They all require maintenance and tweaking. Any machine with moving parts is going to need to a mechanic keeping it running.

    I don't like this bed surface for high temp plastics -- I tried it with polycarb and when it cooled down, it ripped a piece of glass with the coating.

    • @alansmith3720
      @alansmith3720 5 років тому

      Me too and JG will send you a new plate of glass and want you to stick it on top of the old glass but chances are that the Z-Limit switch has already been adjusted to it's maximum and lets forget about heat up times increasing or the extra wear and tear on the stepper motors due to the extra weight.
      oh, watch out because the glass bed they sent me was a factory reject, had hairs stuck under the black coating and that's after waiting six weeks for it to arrive.

    • @kazolar
      @kazolar 5 років тому

      @@alansmith3720 there are a lot of Chinese manufacturers using this textured glass surface which is essentially the same and all are supposed to be magic -- hold while hot, self release when cool, and all are promising up to 150c capability and I tried it on a printer (with a bed which only goes up/down) and it got destroyed after 3 polycarb prints, so I got my money back and will never use this snake oil again. Word of caution DO NOT use these textured glass above 70c -- it will be ruined.

      @@JGAURORA3dprinter I can't take any more of the lines that appear on the prints apparently caused by the Z axis. Unfortunately that is a very negative point here with the A5. As I am in Brazil, I have used palliative parts to reduce the damage, but definitely the problems have not been solved. Before you even launched this model fixing the gantry to the base from the side, I had already done something very similar that helped, but the axes are not parallel to each other nor parallel to the gantry.
