I thought he was singing live to a pre-recorded version of the song. But no, at 4:20 you see the entire band with a piano player, organist (I think) and tambourine player! These are real musicians, a lead singer (Larry Lee) with a beautiful voice who can keep perfect time, no autotune, just REAL TALENT!!! Thanks for finding this gem! You'll never see this today!
You can easily tell there is no pre-recorded studio track playing because the studio album version had his voice doubled (like two singers together). Here it's a solid SINGLE voice.
There is a video out of them playing this, and Lee is 71 years old. He is playing piano and his voice is still VERY close to this. Around 50 years later.
Wow !! 5 times !! I would have loved to have seen them at least once. To me, me this is one of the greatest songs ever !! This slide guitar work is the best I've ever heard, bar none !
I saw OMD with Brewer and Shipley in the 80s, at Starlight theater in KC. An open air theater, designed to have plays. The sound is great there. Both bands did their set, then they all came out and played together for a while, until they ran out of songs to do. They just started to wing it on a few songs before calling it a night. Great show. But the lead guitar player with Brewer and Shipley started the intro to "one toke over the line" in the wrong key. Played the whole intro that way. Their biggest hit, and he blew it. I felt sorry for him. Other than that he was great. An easy mistake. Start in the wrong position and don't notice soon enough to jump to the right place. He's not the only person I've seen do that.
Man they were so awesome in the mid to early seventies or late seventies they were a great band I love listening to him in the early eighties when they come on the radio
I'm betting there are very few of us that still remember these guys. They only had about 3 songs that got any continuous play and Jackie Blue was likely their most well known. Great southern rock sound in the vein of Skynard
There are several live versions here on UA-cam (though some are live picture blended with studio record version sound-- others are actually live). This includes from the Old Grey Whistle Test TV show from 1975 or 76, and one more recently where Larry Lee (the singer) is older and playing a bit slower tempo. They are all on here.
I haves loved this song since the 1970s when I was kid, but thought the recorded vocals were two women! 😂 I found out via UA-cam footage a yr or two ago that the vocalist is a man!
He's most recently singing in a band called BEYOND REACH. They have some videos here on UA-cam. Look up a song from them called "Younger Years".- He's in the one in the center with white hair and he still sounds the same. @@andreacheney3593
Just got into the daredevils a few months ago, I've been loving their first 4 albums!!
Me too, this music is amazing, let me know your thoughts. Joan from ny!
I really can't fully express how much I love and appreciate this song.
My thoughts exactly ❤

I used to listen to this in my 66 Chevy II back in '76 on the AM radio 1600 WINX out of Washington DC.
Cool!
Now, THIS is live! Nice job! Seen these guys like five times, starting in the 70's, when I was a teen! Amazing time for music!

I wish all the 1970s video looked this good. And sound as good. This should have a half million views... damn algorithms
You Better Believe it. ❤😊
This is the stuff.....Larry Lee = must underrated music dude ever. Besides OMD, his solo material is stunning.
Fabulous, different slide guitar player here.

I wonder who were and where the. Original members are now?
some have passed away and others have retired. I think only one or two original members still perform.
I believe Jackie Sutton left or was kicked out her home. This song reminds me of you. Wished I could have helped.
Never forget what a band
FYI: Buddy Brayfield left the group to attend Medical School.
Fuck yeah 😎 ❤
