Amd fucked up with their pricing. It should have been $679 to begin with. Then they would have had an insane price advantage over nvidea and maybe wouldn't have lost so much marketshare to them.
I'm way too lenient to Sony. My condition for accepting the $700 price tag is to include the stand, the drive, a second controller, bundled Astro Bot and mandating 1080p 60fps for ALL games enhanced for Pro. That's it, my minimum is 1080p 60fps and throw in more stuff to justify the price. And Sony still disappoints.
Agree with 3/4 of those, two controllers I can understand is a stretch. Though I still wouldn't get it, but understand more why people would with all of that. Sony getting hacked did me dirty and I will never trust them again (as well as PC gaming just being far better).
1080p 60fps is a fair requirement. Especially since the Xbox Series X barely does it... I'm lucky if Forza Horizon 5 or Gears 5 runs 1080p 30fps... on a good day no less.

I'm very scared of a console doing what I've been doing for like, 8 years. Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it and keep playing games like I've been doing g.
@-chase- Xbox has better games? According to who? You? This generation alone, heck this year alone, the PS5 has had better games. Just because you grew up with Xbox and have no knowledge of Playstation, doesn't mean it's better.
@@MiguelRodriguez-lp9etPlayStation hasn’t had any bangers either lol. I know Xbox has no games, but PlayStation hasn’t had anything that screams “THIS GAME IS GOOD ENOUGH TO BUY A PS5 FOR”. Outside of Spider-Man 2(which was woke garbage which treated Peter as a side character to MJ) what exactly does PS have? Helldivers 2 treated their community like crap on Steam and more than half of the entire community died off. TLOU2 was also pretty bad.
Sony is doing excellent marketing for PC Master Race here! I mean they have gone the extra mile to ensure more people switch to PC and the Nintendo Switch 2, with such a laughable price for what your getting with the PS5 Pro. Xbox Game Pass will supplant the Xbox as a console going forward. Therefore Nintendo is the only console manufacturer that still matters if Sony doesn't clean house for the PlayStation 6 with a complete overhaul. There's nothing Pro about the PlayStation 5 Pro at all, its a scam, your getting 60 FPS at best, and the graphical difference is practically negligible. Seriously, no disc drive or stand, and backwards compatibility is gone from the original PlayStation 5? Certain games cannot run beyond 30 FPS? What a joke. What was Sony actually thinking? Terrible.
wait, the PS5 pro isn't backwards compatible? And they call it *enhanced?* If it's enhanced, it might as well run PS4, PS3, *and* PS2 games with a price like that!
I wonder how that one guy who says 'You're not a gamer if you don't play PlayStation games' would respond to me going, "I haven't touched a PlayStation since the PS2."
ever since the ps4, and being an early adaptor of the old ps4, i became hesitant of buying consoles on release due to lack of games among other things. i stand correct 10 years later.
Yeah, that's funny because I've been gaming since 88, and owned multiple consoles in the same generation up until this gen. After I felt so disappointed with the PS4 offerings I pretty much went PC/Switch and never looked back. I just can't see how I can justify buying a traditional console anymore, what's the point? For the few things on PS5 that I can't get on PC, I can get hundreds, if not thousands, of options on PC that aren't on console. Hell, I installed Doom 1 with Brutal Black Edition mod and it's probably the best shooter experience I've had in a decade or more. I understand if you want simplicity or are on a budget, but if you can afford it I don't know how PC isn't the right choice.
@@shadowsagen723 I don't know, could be? I've known of Brutal Doom since way back before TotalBiscuit died when he either covered it or talked about it, but it slipped off my radar for a good while
Who wants to bet that the cost of manufacturing has in fact gone down, and these companies are just being greedy as usual by reaping more profits instead of passing the savings onto the customer. Like every single console gen before now used to do.
I managed to get a Series S for like 275. Not a bad deal tbh. Also don’t really care for new games. Just a couple few. Mainly bought it for getting old games on the Xbox store.
Paying $700 dollars for a PS5 Pro version would have been bad enough back in 2020 when you had a full console generation to look forward to. Buying a $700 dollar PS5 Pro in 2024 when you only have 3 years left in the console generations is even worse. Why would you do that? Just to play like 5 games? One of those games being GTA 6 that will run better on a PC anyway?
Looks like waiting for GTA6 on the PC is the smart move now. Nintendo Switch 2 won't support the game, I'm counting on it. And Xbox as a console is on its way out for Xbox Game Pass.
The last argument about the deck vs the ps5 pro is hilarious to me because valve went out of their way to make it repairable. the sticks can be swapped on it in 5 minutes.

Can't believe a minimum of 60fps still isn't a standar for console games. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo should at least let the players choose individual graphical settings like in pc.
Apparently we can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60FPS but I’ll be able to see a difference with performance draining settings I won’t be paying attention to if I’m actually playing the game Nintendo Mario thousand year door and Sony being the ones I can think of
PS4 graphics (not PS4 Pro, just baseline PS4) still hold up. People care way too much about visuals. I have a PS5 Slim with disc drive, I have no desire to upgrade to a Pro at all. I don't the price in a vacuum is the problem. The problem is for what you're paying, there's barely any improvement that you're going to notice when you're playing. Also, a bunch of games they showed were PS4 games. This gen doesn't have a hardware issue, it has a huge software issue.
Stick drift on the steam deck VS PS5 controller isn't even a valid argument because every single steam deck has modular joysticks and takes 20 minutes to replace if you take your time
Wait, how is it that my rx6600 is better than a fcking Ps5 Pro? Is it because they are chasing that unicorn called Raytracing, which comoletely kills performance? I don't get the obsession with photorealism.
I'm waiting in anticipation for the PS6 price announcement being around 700-800 for the standard model to 900-1000 for the beefier model and watch these corporate zombies justify the price tag that's now the bare minimum of a prebuilt PC.
17:36 Steam Deck has Hall sensor sticks, therefore they're quite resistant to drift, but if they eventually do... you can replace them using just a screwdriver, and you don't even have to stick (no pun intended) to the original parts, trying something more advanced or more budget, depending on your situation. For instance, GuliKit pair(!) of sticks will be around 30 bucks.
i mean, space marine 2 at high settings with all the chaos (maybe an intended pun) runs at 60 fps on my rig with an rtx 3060 ti and a core i7 10450. bet it can't run well on a ps5 pro.
4:48 "Nobody calls out Enthusiast Gamers who spend $3000+ on high end gaming PCs..." lmao what. EVERYONE calls people out for that. Spending $3000 on a high end gaming PC means you either bought literally the most expensive parts currently available regardless of their abysmal price-to-performance ratio, or you got scammed.
The PS5 Pro is Sony's 2nd Attempt to try to stop Playstation gamers from migrating to PC.... and its failing. Once they experience 144hz display at 1440p or 4k 60 and all the other benefits PC has they'll never go back. Also they can use their Dualsense controller on PC.
I’d take a 4070 over a PS5 Pro any day of the week. After I switched to PC, consoles are no where near close the capabilities of a PC. 70 dollars for 30fps games is delusional. They will tell you the PS5 pro will be better, but just wait until it releases. 700 dollars of disappointment.
After 20+ years being fan of playstation consoles, last christmas I finally decided switch to pc. Since that moment I just keep seeing huge L for sony in everything they do... I dont know what happened to this generation. Even though ps4 times werent the best example, it still was miles better than what we have now
To add some to this discussion I would like to mention the price of the PS5 Pro here in Sweden. One of our biggest home electronics store chains sells it for the low low price of 10495 sek (including taxes). That equates to 1018,46 dollars.... I have never wanted something less than the PS5 Pro. Cancer and AIDS are higher on that list. That chain sells the slim disk drive version of the regular version for 6948 sek (with taxes, converted to dollar that equates to 674,25....
I have enjoyed the ps3, ps4 and the base ps5. I have played Nintendo since the snes. I have tried the Xbox 360 (with the red ring of death), Xbox one, and Xbox one series s. But even I know $700 is excessive and a horrible deal for everything you don’t get like the disc drive. It’s a waste of money as most games don’t go beyond 60fps. And resolution has yet to be fully used for 8k. And raytracing isn’t actively used as much.
The only corporate bootlicking related to gaming I've seen that's comparable to PS5 Pro shills are the people who buy the highest spec Nvidia card for $2k and then go around bragging that they can afford the best and that the cards aren't overpriced because you're paying for the best. Then in a 3-4 years you can buy an equivalent GPU that consumes less power, has better features and costs half the price or less. And somehow they didn't waste their money for an extra 10 FPS on Ultra settings with RT on compared to the next level down.
If people assume it's automatically better than PC by price alone, those people are so delusional it's sad. Expensive stuff does NOT equal good quality. Scalpers selling new stuff doesn't mean it's high quality, they just know there's a big demand for said item and will jack the price up. Doesn't mean the stuff is worth an arm and a leg. I know it's an odd comparison, but it's the best one I could come up with on the fly.
We all know the answer to this, but if the FTC claims they are on the side of the consumers, then where are they with the price tag of the PS5 Pro and Sony charging an extra $250-$300 more for the Pro version and there is no real change at all. 😂
The irony being that before the playstation brand everybody who gamed WAS a real gamer. I.E. a nerd. The first Playstation console opened up the gates of the hobby to everyone else including the jocks who bullied the nerds.
PS fanboys really don't understand PC's 😆 They've been eating peanuts for so long, they don't know that peanut butter exists. I can't even remember the last game i played on PC that had a 30cap lock. And even if i can name one. There's software to double the frames, so framerate is never really an issue when 60 has been the standard for so long. And yet consoles still can't get close to 60 when 4K is in the picture 😆 Consoles still don't use their back catalogues as testing beds for upgraded resolution/framerates. A small handful of games on PS have been brought back with higher framerates. But nowhere near what it should be. Where as on PC, well. You're spoilt with choice 😆 I don't own a PS5. So im curious. How many games can run at 120/4k??? And if not 4k. How many can run at 1440P/120?? Do they even have them adjustable resolutions 😆
Yet Didn't Digital Foundry also say "Not" to get the PS5 Pro, because of the price but also especially if you already have the normal PS5 there would be no real performance difference between the normal PS5 and the Pro version (unless you happen to be one of very few people in the world than can tell the difference).
As someone who has a "day one" ps5 and very much enjoys it, no the hell it doesn't need to be that much 100 more than whatever they're selling them for now at the most
Thanks for the part about the graphics issues on FF7 Rebirth, because now you save me from buying a PS5, and buying a PS5 Pro is not an options, since the only other exclusives that I'm interested in playing are Spider-Man 2 and FF16.

Just upgraded to 4070 Super, i9 11900, and 64gb RAM, 2TB M.2 SSD. I said, to hell with consoles.
Dude that sounds like a monster of a rig. At least compared to my hand me down.
@@Zminator1986 took a lot of saving to get the GPU. I traded my Series X to get the system with a 3050. Sold the GPU towards the new one. Sold some other tech and a TV to get the 4070 Super. Went with an i5 12600 for the CPU instead.
You'll upgrade before ya know it. Especially if you sell stuff like me.
People didn't buy the 7900XT at their original $899 MSRP and now u can get it for $679 and run almost every game at 1440p/120fps
U see what happens when you're not a mindless cheerleader for plastic?
but mindless cheerleader is their whole personality.
Amd fucked up with their pricing. It should have been $679 to begin with. Then they would have had an insane price advantage over nvidea and maybe wouldn't have lost so much marketshare to them.
in canada this gpu is close to 1k and the 7900xtx is 1200+
Well canada sucks balls. ( nah really we suffer from the same shit in finland ) must be the weather 😅
I could had one for 650 but was way too big (over 350mm and my case fits 340 witout fan) and didn't wanted new case
Or swap the controllers back to magneto resistive sticks for the controller
1080p 60fps is a fair requirement. Especially since the Xbox Series X barely does it... I'm lucky if Forza Horizon 5 or Gears 5 runs 1080p 30fps... on a good day no less.
Forget defending the PS5Pro or buying it, I'm reconsidering my base PS5 now. I have a PC and base PS5. But going forward I won't be buying any console from Sony. Even PS6 or PS7 or whatever BS they cook up I'm just done with this company and it's fan boys constantly defending every anti consumer predatory move by Sony. I don't see any future with this brand.
Going full PC and I'll buy a Switch 2 instead now. Never owned a Switch but I see more value in investing 400 dollars in Switch 2 rather than 800-1000 dollars PS5pro, PS6 made by Sony
LMAO and they say pc gamers are scared
Ya I doubt that . PC always been the boss and there's way more games ..... Better games for PC .. Even Xbox has better games than PlayStation

With the PS6 now basically announced, The PS5 Pro is now the modern-day Sega 32X. Great job Sony lol

Most of their games are just interactive movies at this point, you’re not missing much.

So basically Red Dragon admits PS5 was underpowered just like Xbox fans were saying.
Who wants to bet that the cost of manufacturing has in fact gone down, and these companies are just being greedy as usual by reaping more profits instead of passing the savings onto the customer. Like every single console gen before now used to do.

2 custom rigs / two gaming laptops
all have better performance than the consoles
The last argument about the deck vs the ps5 pro is hilarious to me because valve went out of their way to make it repairable. the sticks can be swapped on it in 5 minutes.
Bonnie meowing into the mic was the most adorable thing ever. I went from being in a bad mood to instantly smiling in moments. Can we have bonnie cameos more often
Can't believe a minimum of 60fps still isn't a standar for console games.
Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo should at least let the players choose individual graphical settings like in pc.
Apparently we can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60FPS
but I’ll be able to see a difference with performance draining settings I won’t be paying attention to if I’m actually playing the game
Nintendo Mario thousand year door and Sony being the ones I can think of
lmfao There's no reason to getting a PS console at all. Xbox is meh but at least its window compatible to the PC, unless you use linux.
PS4 graphics (not PS4 Pro, just baseline PS4) still hold up. People care way too much about visuals. I have a PS5 Slim with disc drive, I have no desire to upgrade to a Pro at all. Didn't upgrade PS4, not upgrading PS5, won't be upgrading PS6 if I get that. People need to just enjoy games and have fun.
Hell even some ps3 graphics hold up
Metal Gear Rising and Spec Ops The Line. Both came out in 2013 and both look beautiful.

All they had to do was just show some Gen 8 titles running at double the framerate like CP2077 and maybe, MAYBE the price would have been easier to swallow. Who tf with a fully functional frontal lobe would pay $700 minimum for better looking background tress?

As a playstation fanboy i can agree playstation has lost their minds.
$700 for 60fps performance mode 864p is crazy 💀
People who think that some big corporation loves them in a nutshell....
i mean, space marine 2 at high settings with all the chaos (maybe an intended pun) runs at 60 fps on my rig with an rtx 3060 ti and a core i7 10450. bet it can't run well on a ps5 pro.
It won't since the CPU will still bottle it, LOMA
4:48 "Nobody calls out Enthusiast Gamers who spend $3000+ on high end gaming PCs..."
lmao what.
It's crazy seeing the fanboys really think the PS5 Pro is 33tflops.
These people who defend the ps5 pro price are also the same people who say pc is too expensive.
The ps5 and Xbox doesn’t even run native 1080p lol. How is it gonna run 8k? Let alone 4k
And now, Theirs rumors of them makeing the ps6, just days after this announcement.
700 for the same games running a bit less poorly.
Ps6 for the low price of $1800 no disk drive, no stand and no onboard memory.
Sony fanboys make me look smart
The console wars have really contributed to brain rot I swear.
The fact that Sony doesn't even bother with the false promise for 60 fps is such a red flag.
£700 can upgrade your current PC into a beast. You could also buy a ton of games or some really nice accessories instead.
I never understood MGS deciding to name Xbox One X and Xbox Series X so similar. It's like Wii and Wii U.

My microwave is stronger than PS5 Pro
PS fanboys really don't understand PC's 😆 They've been eating peanuts for so long, they don't know that peanut butter exists. I can't even remember the last game i played on PC that had a 30cap lock. And even if i can name one. There's software to double the frames, so framerate is never really an issue when 60 has been the standard for so long. And yet consoles still can't get close to 60 when 4K is in the picture 😆
Consoles still don't use their back catalogues as testing beds for upgraded resolution/framerates. A small handful of games on PS have been brought back with higher framerates. But nowhere near what it should be. Where as on PC, well. You're spoilt with choice 😆
I don't own a PS5.
As someone who has a "day one" ps5 and very much enjoys it, no the hell it doesn't need to be that much
100 more than whatever they're selling them for now at the most
Thanks for the part about the graphics issues on FF7 Rebirth, because now you save me from buying a PS5, and buying a PS5 Pro is not an options, since the only other exclusives that I'm interested in playing are Spider-Man 2 and FF16.
Your not a gamer, get in the truck and were gonna roll you down a hill. That killed me man haha.
I spent a little more than a PS5 Pro with disc drive and stand and I got a Ryzen 7 7700, 16gb DDR5 and RX 7600. I can’t recommend a PS5 Pro when you could get all that for just a little bit more.
The Deck stick modules replaced with ease. Valve designed it so it could be done with little effort, check their official Deck teardown video.
PS5 Pro close to the flagship GPU of NVIDIA? That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Them PlayStation Fanboys being living in delulu land.😂
I've had some CRAZY interactions with sony fanboys on twitter the past week. They always use strawman arguments and try to resort to insults immediately instead of having a civil disagreement. 💀 My fault for not learning how to ignore them.
If you have 700 bucks just save a bit more and get a pc. Even budget builds will out perform the playstation pro
They could also just get a ps3 and probably half the entire library of that console and have all the games they will need for the next 3-5years
Once again I have to point out that whenever PC players pointed the digital foundry to describe how pathetic the PS4 and PS4 pro were PS Fanboys would clap back and get upset and say that digital foundry was biased and now in 2024 after digital found you went political and is irrelevant. Now they want to quote them and Link them and try to tell us about digital foundry. I just have to point that out every single time. A Sony person brings up digital foundry now
As a person that is a fanboy for PlayStation consoles just cause I grew up on them, don't clump me in with those idiots that think that's fine to pay that much for the console. This is crazy and it's only digital only with the disc drive and the vertical stand that should be in the box being sold separately. Absolute clowns 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Unrelated, I was shocked to see a trailer for a PS4 version of Jedi Survivor.
one thing about the stick drift with steam deck, you can replace them. can't do that with a ps5 controller
I remember clearly that PS3 was promised/ advertised to do 1080p 60fps native on all games back then. To see to this day that from PS3 to PS5Pro that they still struggle to do so.
If by any chance they do end up achieving 1080p 60fps native with no drops then that tells me its going to take until PS7 or PS7Pro to achieve 4k 60fps native with no drops. Because thats how many untils to release in order to promise the stuff they promised from the past console releases they struggle to do.
Sony got too much on their hands, and things will continue to get L for them.
All I can say is if the PS6 is a legit upgrade and is the same price as the PS5 Pro, that will only confirm what a scam the PS5 Pro is for the price.
When will people realize they are just selling the same console with a different skin that’s all it is.
I know this Video is 1 month old, but I had to respond even though I wish I had the tweet in front of me
At 17:36 in this video the tweet continues with. " Oh, what happens if the steam deck stick drift? An entire $700 console vs. a $70 Controller /$20 edge stick
My answer.
1.) if the steam deck gets stick drift. The joysticks are modular. They can be bought online and replaced. Steam and ifixit have videos on step by step how to open the console and replace the bad joysticks with new ones.
2.) while it's true you can replace joysticks on the Dualsense edge constrollers, it appears that most of the time the website shows those parts are not available to purchase, they are sold out.
3.) that means 1.) Sony wants players to buy a new controller because they are greedy or 2.) the edge controllers are so bad that they keep selling out of replacement parts.
Either way song is making a killing off you guys. I say scam. You say reliable.
I'm laughing since it's rare that a steam deck user needs to replace a joystick. Just sayin'.
