    I just bought two 3 packs of the isolation dampers off Amazon for 8 bucks a pack. I have two of these saws, one was my dad's from 1980 and I got another from 1985 and they both needed fuel lines and vent lines, along with carb repairs. The parts and kits are cheap online- I got two chains, a bar, 6 dampers, 4 carb kits, and 3 chains for my ms170 for around 120 bucks. The bar and chains for the 011s are a brand called 8ten and the bar is the heaviest bar I've ever seen for its size. The chains seem decent too. I see people all over complaining that they can't find oilers for these saws but I had no problem finding complete oilers, rebuild kits, gaskets, whatever you need for the oiling system, new and used, depending on what exactly you need or fits your budget

      That’s awesome, that could be due to your area too. Oh yeah, a friend of mine bought one of those 8 ten bars and they are very heavy!

    Those oldschool reed valve saws are my favorite. They sound all raspy and gruff. I’ve got 020 super, 010, 011, and 012. $50 parts saws are usually your best bet to source pieces

      the cable goes from the handle to a slit in the carburetor compartment wall. you don't have to feed the cable throught the slit, just lift the cable up and set it into the compartment. this is a great feature cause you can remove the carb from its compartment without having to detach the cable from the carb while it is still in the compartment. and conversely reconnect the cable to the carb before returning it to the compartment

    I've heard if the bar gets pinched hard and the operator tries the ref it out of the jam that it can bend the crank

    Taking off the carb from a 011, I dropped some oily sawdust in the cylinder. Would rinsing it out with paint thinner be enough?

    I accidentally broke one of those two pins on the oil pump when trying to remove it, is that going to cause the oil pump to not function properly?

    • @drewscreations8551
      @drewscreations8551  2 роки тому

      No, they are just dowels for diaphragm alignment and case alignment. It’s just going to be more difficult keeping the diaphragm lined up when putting it back on the saw.

    Previous owner used it with no bar oil running through. The bar and chain heated up (evidently) which tightened the chain so much it bent the clutch drum?

    Drew I just got an 021 Stihl chainsaw and the coil wire is broken into on it but is it possible to change just the plug wire on the coil? I've always changed the complete coil and plug wire on any chainsaws but I'm I'm just trying to get this saw going as easiest possible and I'm probably going to look at trading it for something like either a good used hood and grill for one of my bigger LX model John Deere riding mowers or possibly traded on or towards a 48-in cut deck for a John Deere L Series riding mower, if anybody has either one of those types of things I'm looking for that they are wanting to get rid of and maybe want to do some trading on

    • @drewscreations8551
      @drewscreations8551  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it is possible to change coil wires on some coils

    • @goldhunter9641
      @goldhunter9641 3 роки тому

      @@drewscreations8551 okay Drew and I appreciate it and I have changed coil wires on some stihl weed eaters before, that have the peg that sticks up out of the coil, that you push the coil wire down over and twist it back and forth until it grabs it really well, so I would assume that's how the coil may work on this 021 then shouldn't it, if it is changeable?

    Hey Drew, I have a question for you. Does the 361 STIHL have a large spline for the rim sprocket like the 440 or a small spline like the 260? Thanks

    • @drewscreations8551
      @drewscreations8551  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Phil, I’m pretty sure it’s a the large spline like the 440 because it runs the same standard mount also. The 260 is a smaller class of saw.

    When you put the side cover back on you didn't seat it properly. See the gap on the bottom at the handle end. That's what bent your sprocket most likely. And you should never run a saw with the side cover off. That clutch unspinning at those arms will do some crazy shiz man. Cool video though.

      @@drewscreations8551 The covers are aggravating on these. My 010 always tried to jam like that putting it on. Hope ya got it all sorted though. These are great little saws. I have two myself. A 010AV and a 009L that I recently got for free due to it "extensively smoking" and it took me a bit to realize its bar oil leaking through the pump and into the crankcase via the pulse hole. Which is where I found your video randomly looking the web haha.
