    Great video with measurements to support the already clear and concise explanation. Thank you!! As a result of watching your video (I had already watched many others which did not help), I have decided to have the existing front window tints removed (the tinting shop estimated that they are about 20%) and replaced with 50% ceramic (they were on my car when I bought it 2 years ago).

    If I'm driving a car manufactured prior to 2017 and today get a, let's say a 35% tint on the front windshield, I would not fail an inspection?

    Is electrically powered variable tint legal? Theoretically it will be 75% or completely clear when measured with a meter, and then adjusted to whatever you want for your eyes to be comfortable from uv and glare when travelling...

      @@Andrew-kd5lm I've had 5% all around for 7 years never been stopped yet. I guess it depends where you live if the cops are dicks or not lol. I'm in London. 20% is a good choice still but I'm happy I went with 5

    so basically even if you put the 70% on the front windows, bringing total light transference to 62, you would not be able to resell your vehicle in the future. so unless you're driving it till it's scrap, why bother? wouldn't you just have to remove it all to sell it?

    • @mikaelvellmun7228
      @mikaelvellmun7228 8 місяців тому +1

      no, you sell it as is or trade it in when getting a new car. Then they deal with it

    On Ontario government website it says 30% tinting allowed... meaning 70% of the light need to pass through... so. A 35% tint is totally legal. It's on the windshield that you can't have any, not on the windows.

      Hi. The source of the confusion is the Ontario Legislation (Inspection not Highway) and the Window Film Industry , apply a definition to the word “tint” that is 180 degrees different.
      The industry 35% shade means it blocks 65% of visible light.
      Factory glass blocks approx 12% on the drivers side window for example. The Window Film Industry would call that a 90% Tint. So even an Industry rated 70% on top of the factory original tint, would not pass a Ontario Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection if it was manufactured before Jan 1 2017 (roughly 60%). If manufactured after Jan 1 2017, only if the side front glass is factory original, without an aftermarket tint of any kind, and allows not less than 70% VLT would that vehicle technically pass a Safety Inspection using the mandatory Light Meter Tool.
      It’s understandable the wording of the legislation leads to confusion.

    in fact, if i put 70% tint on windshield, will police stop me or they dont care if its that light?
