Agreed! Most don't show it close enough and just "assume" you can see what's happening. This is PERFECT. Especially the repeat of it and how to disengage. how did we ever do this stuff before instructional videos!?
Thanks for this video how to install the saw blade to B&D Model PHS550G reciprocating saw. I have been trying for several years. This video show the Key location. The oval key was turned 90degree in my saw somehow. I used small flat head screw driver to turn the oval key while pressing the button on the back. Once the oval key turned 90 degree, the hole in the saw lined up and snapped right in. Great! I am now able to use my saw again after several years.
Than you. No wonder companies go under. Because they have shitty design and even shittier documentation. Been struggling to get this blade fitted in and could not. I would fire the designer, the QA person and the documentation guy!!
Thanks for this video. It literally took me ten seconds to put the blade in! I read the reviews of how difficult the process was and so I searched UA-cam and found your video. Got the saw out this morning and put it right in.
Thank you so much for this video! My husband spent about 40 mins trying to figure it out, and then I spent another 30 mins! The problem was that little nob thing on the inside was turned 90 degrees, and we just didn’t realize it until I saw how it was supposed to be on your video. I was able to turn it into the right position and the blade attached perfectly! Thanks again!
@@pacer293 This was my struggle too. Turns out you have to push the black release button at the same time as inserting a screw driver into the little hole, to make the turn.
Hello, thank you very much indeed for your help. I've also bought a black and decker scorpion saw, Reading "the instructions", and the drawing, mentioned on figure 3????, and it's not shown. Much better with the video. Thanks again. 😊
You’ll never know how your simple instructions have helped me! I am tying to get my Christmas tree up and every guy in the house is sick so it’s all me 😂😂😂. THANK YOU
Your video was a lifesaver I couldn’t figure out why my blade was not going on I even tried turning the little thing inside but until I saw your video I couldn’t figure out how to do it. Thank you
My unit was in the locked position with no blade in it. Could figure out how the hell to connect the blade. I saw your video and realized I needed to rotate the lock with a flathead screwdriver. It works now. Thank you
Thank you so much for putting this video on UA-cam! I was able to replace my blade without too much problem. That shape that’s inside was going up and down instead of sideways so I figured out I had to turn that part in order to get the blade in. Which took a screwdriver into that slot and turn in it. Bingo! Thank you again!
As someone else commented, my oval shaped pin was not pointing horizontally; it was vertical. I had to take the saw apart by removing all of the screws, pushing in the black button on the other side to get it to protrude out from the metal housing, and then turn it.It took a few tries, but it now works. This was an old saw that my husband adored. He even gave it a name: Andre'. We had just bought a new one, and it came with the same defect: the pin pointed in the wrong direction. We bought online it from Home Depot, but when we brought it back to the store, even the "pros" could not figure out what was wrong. thank you so much for leading us in the right direction!
Thank you for this. After reading the reviews on Amazon I was really dreading having to get the blade in. But, I really needed a little saw like this. Also, like many others, I not only have trouble understanding written instructions but also reading the tiny print they use to save money. This goes for almost anything any more.
What if the little black knob thing is faced the other direction and isn't lining up with the saw hole? I tried sticking a screw driver in there to turn it and I seemed to have pushed it farther up.
Thank you! Got it from Amazon and all the reviewers moaning about how bad the instructions are…well they are t that clear. Just have to Google for a tutorial and I can across yours. Excellent instruction, thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for being precise and to the point, I just watched a video and they guy doing it couldn't even get the blade on, he fastforwarded to having in it and at a pile of limbs, waste of my time. Thank you! Got it the first time after watching your video.
Thanks for the video.. still the problem is whta do i do when that little black metal piece inside doesn't turn with the saw? or doesn't pop up & stay up? Love the saw as long as it keeps working for me!
Thanks a million for the video That is a change from a previous instrument by Black& Decker to get a screwdriver and turn the screw to double-lock the blade in position. Your video is very clear thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I needed this last year and didn't think about looking for an instructional video. I thought this was broken until I viewed your video. I really really appreciate you doing your video. Again thank you very much
Thank you for this very helpful video. Arriving yesterday, I had my suspicions that the box my saw was in had been re-purposed, perhaps from a return by a previous owner. As I struggled with the blade installation, I thought the worst. Thanks also to Nice475, below, for the important part of how to get the locking pin back to parallel,to the bottom of the saw. Having put a lot of torque left and right on my vertical locking pin, the information, "while pressing the button on the back", was a savior.
So glad I looked at this video, the instructions seem to imply the pin has to be in the other position and I’ve spent ages trying to turn it to lock the pin in position!!
I went to use my saw again and couldn't get the blade on. I rewatched this video and realized the locking pin was turned 90 degrees and that's why I couldn't get the blade to fit on it. The saw instructions say to take a flathead screwdriver to rotate it. Hint: press the blade release button if you can't get it to turn.
Thank you as I was having the hardest damn time getting the blade on until I saw your video, I had to push the lever and rotate it and then it popped right on . Thanks again
The problem I had was the mounting post was out of position... with the close up view of the slot in the mounting post position as seen in the video, I thought a screwdriver blade might help me turn it to the mounting position..... it worked. Turned it to the mounting position, inserted the blade, place it on the post, pushed it up to the cutting position and click, locked in the cutting position..... poor pre-shipping inspection. What a pain and a lot of miles driven to two closed repair centers after being referred to them.
Thanks, mate! Just unboxed mine and was trying for ages. The instructions say to make sure that thing is pointing downwards, but says nothing about where the blade locks in! Was looking in totally the wrong place, would never have figured out it goes in underneath
Thank you for such a clear, instructional video. I was not looking forward to changing the blade, remembering how very complicated it seemed when I last did it, many moons ago. Thank you too, to Nice475, for the tip on adjusting the socket into which the blade must go, when it is out of alignment.
Thanks... It took me longer trying to figure out how to get the blade in place (only succeeded after watching your video) than to do the job I bought it for..... The instruction image was hopeless. One paragraph of instructions (rather than four pages of "Do not use the saw while in the bath", "Do not operate with the saw blade in your mouth", "Do not give to a three year old to play with" guff) from the manufacturers would have be useful...
Should have just come to your tutorial video before bothering to attempt what the instruction manual has written in it...(thanks, got the blade in, safely locked for use & will be demolishing many things today in the kitchen...) ✨🤙🏼✨
Just received my saw. This video and the comments below are very helpful. However, that oval key on my unit is not centered in the access area and is at an angle as others stated. The notch for the screwdriver is blocked by the plastic guard on the unit so I can't access it to try to turn the key around. This is probably why the release button doesn't seem to work at all. Guess I'll have to drive 14 miles to Home Depot and have one of them adjust it for me or replace it. Too bad I needed to use it today.
Excellent presentation. If only other instructional videos on YT were half as good as this one it would be a blessing. Thank you.
Agreed! Most don't show it close enough and just "assume" you can see what's happening. This is PERFECT. Especially the repeat of it and how to disengage. how did we ever do this stuff before instructional videos!?
Thank you! I purchased the saw on Amazon and many of the complaints were about installing the blade. I came here first and I had no problems.
Yes, thank you. Instructions did not make this clear at all.

I've owned this saw forever, and every time I try to use it, I forget what I had to do the previous time. Thanks for making this video!
Fantastic video! 10 second job. Sooo easy. Many people had written in on Amazon saying that it took them forever to figure it out. Many thanks.

Thank You! MVP comment!!
Thank you for the video. My saw also came with the screw facing up. After turned the screw with a screwdriver, my saw is finally working right.

I tried and tried to attach the blade. The instructions are unclear. This video helped me attach the blade and now it works great!!!

mine is 90 degree too,how did you manage to turn it?
@@pacer293 This was my struggle too. Turns out you have to push the black release button at the same time as inserting a screw driver into the little hole, to make the turn.
@@booboowhite1 Same! Was concerned I might break it if I tried to turn it 90 w/ screwdriver. Thanks for the excellent tip!
Thanks for this. I never would have gotten the blade on with the terribly written instructions by B & D.
Thanks so much i spent 20 minutes trying to install blade. The directions sure didn't help. Your video was great!
I went on UA-cam because the directions are awful. Thank you!

If the piece inside doesn’t match the blade, you can turn it with a small flat screw driver through the middle opening. Thank you for your video!
Nestor Lima and thank you for the screw driver tip! I had to turn the piece to fit the blade.
@@warrenmorphis4208 glad it worked out for you!
Thank you. The written instructions were not very clear and your video made a lot more sense.
Wish the instructions that came in the box were as clear. You saved me a headache and a half. Thank you! 😊
B&D made the instructions as difficult as possible. Thanks for this clear tutorial!
Thank you!!! You saved me so much time staring at unfathomable diagrams! I did it in two seconds after watching. Appreciate your video
Thank you
Thanks so much! I read the instructions and found it confusing. Your description was better than manufacturer!
Excellent explanation. Thank you for sharing. A different video had me failing miserably
Wouldn't have known what to do without this video. Thank you!
Thank you sooo much I’m too old 68 and I have some problems… but with your video I do !♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! The instructions with the saw were not clear at all. Much appreciated.

If the metal piece inside does not match, just keep the release button pressed and align the piece/pin with the shape of the blade-hole.
