Busted out a skil saw next time
if you put your hand on the pipe, same hands thumb on sawzall guide plate, be through it in about a second. just apply a bit of pressure and thats it, it kinda stabilizes your pipe and blade and cuts like butter. used to do this for a living, metal blades surprisingly work better for pvc than wood blades.

Is amazing
When you first showed it, I honestly thought it was one of the toy Black&Decker saws from my 5yo sons toy tool bench. I have no idea why someone would market that as anything other than an electric knife to cut your turkey on Thanksgiving.
That's exactly what I thought of when he first showed it lol
So your part of the black and decker issue and so is your child. Buy him Milwaukee toys or I’m calling cps
@@ryanmurphy2089 some people don’t want to buy something that is 2 times as much that is still made in china for the most part.
Youd be surprised, most people live in cities, we live in a world today where most people can’t even change a car tyre . This is the kind of thing that single mum Karen’s 25 year old son buys when he needs to trim twigs off a plant because he doesn’t have the skill to use a handsaw.
I’m a concretor and when I hear customers refer to concrete as cement it reminds me that most people don’t know the difference.
I bet they put the cable on the top so the clueless won’t accidentally cut the cable. It’s probably happened before .
The type of person who wouod buy this is probably the type of person who would accidentally cut the cable
As a contractor once told me when he handed me his Milwaukee power drill vs my pathetic Black and Decker one. "Black and Decker is the fisher price of power tools."
i 100% agree with him.
The engineers watching this that did design it, probably designed it for a black friday deal/sale and knew it was hot garbage.
It's an unfair comparison. The Milwaukee had a wood cutting blade and the B&D had all purpose blade.
@@EMD1028 Actually it isn't a unfair comparison
@@EMD1028 And that's why the Milwaukee preformed the same on PVC because...?
@@lackedpuppet9022 I can't remember what I did last week let alone months ago. But seems with your sarcastic question your answer is automatically correct. Go ahead soyboy fill me in.
@@EMD1028 If the Milwaukee had an advantage on the wood because of it's specific blade, why didn't it choke when it came to PVC and it still had a wood blade while the B&D had a general purpose blade? Obviously the blades didn't have a whole hell of a lot to do with anything, the B&D is just cheap garbage.
I have always found it hilarious that Black and Decker owns Dewalt, Craftsman, Lenox, Stanley, etc...and the subsidiaries are so much better than the parent company.
maybe they intentionally make crap to boost the popularity and brand competition of their subsidiaries. Why own them if the parent company always has the better product.
The company is actually “Stanley Black+Decker”, with those two companies having merged. But yes, it is funny that they’re part of the company name yet are the in-store equivalent of buying tools from Wish.
@@paulmcconnell7405 what's even worse is the battery is better then the cord, normally cord versions will have more power to them
Lenox blades are crap though
It's because black and decker is supposed to be the cheaper version making it inherently worse

They won’t lol they just wanted to look like they are the Gods of power tools

@@kennysmith5084 yes kenny! You’re a real top bloke for this! 👍🏻
I believe they put the power cable on top so it is easier and more comfortable to put over your shoulder and behind you, minimising the risk of cutting through the cord while you are using it
Makes sense to me. And should be easier to manage slack as well for longer cuts.
I'm thinking it is there to help prevent a consumer from sawing through the cord.
So, what you're saying is a homeowner designed it.
Yep
Why would you put the cord over your shoulder? This tool is hot garbage
How's it do on a turkey though? Could be the best carving knife for the price lol 😆

Hes already got that video planned but he's got to wait till 2033 for the wish products to arrive... 🤣🤣
Milwalkee: Feels like a tool
Black & Decker: Feels like a toy. A really super dangerous toy.
All my tools are Milwaukee. I'll pay extra for a Milwaukee
My dad has the older version of this from the late 90s or early 2000s. They called it the Gator Saw back then. It uses the same blades. Best part is that the cord comes out the bottom of the handle. I agree that the blade removal system isn't that great... It is easy to put blades in upside down. Also, I haven't seen these replacement blades at the store. Old B&D is good. Stanley B&D is not good anymore.
It's funny because Stanley B&D also owns Dewalt and other good brands. It's like they're not even paying attention to B&D tools now that they've merged
My mother used a Gator Saw a few days ago to cut down a small tree.
Dude when I tell you I literally cried laughing when he first tried to cut it with the handsaw, I probably rewatched it 12 times😂😂
it looks like this is cobbled together using parts of maybe a jigsaw and so the motor inside is bent in such a unholy way that the cord must stick out from the top lol
The cable is on the top to go over your shoulder so that you don’t accidentally cut through it and electrocute yourself
I think the B&D also has a compass built into the handle and a tiny flashlight too! You just need a few tools to remove the covering so you can get at the box it's housed in. Sold separately. (They are B&D sets). There is an optional power cord and first aid kit combo available too.
READ THE SMALL PRINT!!
Since Thanksgiving is so close you should use the black and decker to carve a turkey... See how that goes... Lol
that B&D looks like an electric turkey carver
Cuts wood like one too
I like how in one video Tyler was mocking electric handsaws and then in this one he actually shames a handsaw. True legend right here.
I feel like the main issue with that saw is the fact that the blade doesn't go back and forth far enough
I mean you're comparing Black+Decker to a Milwaukee which is basically comparing "toys" to real tools
Lol its like comparing a $3 walmart knife to a Japanese sushi knife
Still fun to see the comparison tho, someones gotta be the loser and its definitely that black+decker
I'd take my grandfathers 20V Hyper Tough recip saw he got super cheap over this Black+Decker P.O.S.
That saw is 48 bucks and corded. Pretty sure you would find many better things on eBay easily. Not that I've actually looked since I'm not a fan of corded tools.
I think the moral here is more or less that black and decker needs to start putting more quality into their products, they own dewalt and other “higher quality” brands, there’s no excuse for this abomination.
I'm convinced black and decker is made just for home ec classes
To be fair, I think the difference in the blade tpi also made a difference. The cut finish from the BD was much smoother than the more aggressive Milwaukee blade. Quite evident on the hardwood cut.
I hope you’re just talking about the hackzawl because the full size Milwaukee saw awl is untouchable
My Milwaukee sawzall gives clean cuts. Different blades for different material. PVC pipe was only rough because he used wood blade.
Definitely evident. If I had to guess, the BD is probably around the 18-22 TPI range and the Mil is around like 12. So of course it's going to take longer to cut.
You should use the Milwaukee saw to saw thru the Black n Decker saw lol 😆
I got one of these back in 2007. It works great, never had a problem with it. For light wood or PVC cutting it works well
I agree, it does look like hot garbage... so don't take this as a serious defense of the tool... but I suspect the cord was routed out the top of the handle so you could more easily sling the cord over your shoulder to help keep it further away from the blade. Just a guess.
Yep but it would take 10 seconds to cut through the cord so plenty of time to move it before that happens lol
@@michaelolsen4733 LOL
@@michaelolsen4733 Don't think you've cut a cord before!
@@dontnubblemebro you know I was being sarcastic right?? However you would be correct as I'm am smart enough not to do so...
@@michaelolsen4733 It sure didn't read like sarcasm! On a bench or whatever, it's real easy to not cut a cord. When you're upside down in a greasy pit, then cable management becomes trickier!
But no, I've only ever nicked one with a grinder. I've seen a couple get cut though!
6:53 I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

Totally agree with you. I have one of those saws that I inherited and wondered why it was never used. Tried it and it went back in the pristine box. You do need a better bench though!
Black and decker have used that same system for the blades for years.
That's why Black & Decker suck

The moment he take the regular hand saw... i immediately take a look in to the handle if theres a cord hahahaha
I know it still wouldn't beat the Milwaukee, but if you hold the saws guard against the thing you are cutting it won't vibrate as much and cut faster.
I was coming to say this exactly.
Thank you. That was driving me crazy. He would use the sawsall right but nat the b&d. Like duhh its not cutting. Your technique sucks.

Tyler should invite all these people in the comments who think they know how to use the saw correctly for his next video 😏
@@robertkost9596 ironic as hell
@@robertkost9596 He proved you wrong, so go cry a river somewhere else. 😂
For one, the reason the cord was on the top is so that when you are working you have the cord hung over your shoulder, it's a common technique used with car detailing tools. Secondly I think it's a great idea you have to hold the button and the activate button to use the tool, that way if you ever drop it the tool will turn off and you will not risk injury.
Tyler tube really needs a course on how to use a handsaw🤣
I did not know Black & Decker made toy tools for children.😂😂
fun fact: black and decker is the same company as dewalt
That Black & Decker almost seems like a toy saw
Let's not forget price, too. The B&D is about $52, whereas the Milwaukee is like $130. Also, B&D *does* make a Sawzall for about $60. This electric saw is not a Sawzall, but they do sell one for half the price of the Milwaukee you tested here.
The B&D engineer watching this: “wtf man.. ☹️”
I swore off Black and Decker products years ago. Every one of them that I've ever tried has sucked!
The discount store I work at is loaded with b&d products and it's super obviously cheaply put together they are
@TylerTube I think the cord is overtop to help avoid cutting it. Considering the applications a blade like that is meant for, maybe pruning, it might get easily tangled up otherwise. I'm not sure, it's just a thought
Right off the bat Tyler is straight up dissing this saw 💀
I legitimately thought that that was a toy at first.
My mom always be like, black and decker best tools ever.
Meanwhile me in a construction site throwing my mikita all over te place, in sand rain cold. Yet always same perfection (only downside to makita is the batteries (in cold weather they can give less power) but still most black and decker has electric cord lol
The cord is on the top for safety lol, it keeps the cord behind your cut
So doesn’t putting the cord on the bottom
The cord doesn't come out the front when it's on the bottom. It's an idiotic design.
Exactly why don’t people understand how dangerous cutting the cord can be the
@The Amish Electrician yeah ik but the people that will use this over a circular saw are probably careless so it’s a good habit to get into trying to prevent a leakage to earth
@The Amish Electrician no, thats a fair point.
After watching your video, I found it on amazon and read the reviews. It's pretty clear from the reviews that it's a favorite among old ladies.
i don't know why i'm watching a review of an electric saw when the closest i get to sawing anything is playing god damn house flipper, but i'm enjoying it so oh well lmao
I owned the older version of that saw. Yup, changing the blades was a pain, and it wasn't a powerful saw. The cord, however, didn't come off the top. Mine died in only a few years, like many B&D tools. They haven't made a decent power tool in decades.
I love how you put lots of pressure on the Milwaukee when you're cutting, but not with the black and decker.
Was thinking the same. And then that stupid ass electric saw too it’s just trash
It probly couldnt take it!
Was just about to say this.
@California Construction Channel>>> LOL California LOL
@California Construction Channel Kek he made a whole video redoing the cuts with the shit saw just to expose you, funny how Tyler apparently knows how to use tools more than a construction channel
"Twenty seven seconds" my immediate reaction to that was the firm belief that I could beat that time with a hand saw
Hey mom can we get a sawzall?
Mom: We have a sawzall at home.
Sawzall at home....
Tylers looking a lot smaller! Good job brother! Also they made this right after seeing your video on the Dewalt saw. So they were very rushed
The Fisher Price version of reciprocating saws
The struggle with that hand saw😂
Funny thing is Black and Decker owns DeWalt. Crap is crap.
The cut of black and decker is looking smoother/better all time, Then consider whether it is worth more to be faster and still have to sand or if it takes a little longer and you don't have to sand
I agree. Not an apples to apples comparison. The tear out on the Milwaukee blade was way worse. Need to have the same TPI on the blades and compare. The Milwaukee will probably still win but by a smaller margin.
I felt the same! Maybe it's just not very visible on camera, but if the cut was cleaner, then it would definitely be worth the added time.
I still go with the sawzall. They’re literally TONS of blades for them. Different materials, different tpi, different teeth angles and placements, separate from TPI. It might take a little longer than a rough wood cutting blade. But I’m willing to put money on any good sawzall with a fine, good blade, will outperform that black and decker. In every way. And the blade system...I don’t know how I feel about that. I would have to test it out and see how long they last. But I’m sure the availability of standard blades is much better. And, one HUGE point. Corded... Cordless...(for the most part)
Still quite awful saw. Proprietary replacement parts and that cord placement
This doesn't strike me as something a craftsman would be using to do fine woodwork. This seems like a cash grab aimed at people that don't really know tools all that well.
I've had mine since 2007.
Read the instruction manual and placing blades on using the 'window' makes it easy.
This thing is made well and has treated me just fine for 15 years!
They are a good all round saw, I noticed that the blades on these are not similar so its not really a like-for-like test. I got mine really cheap and I'm very happy with it. I don't work in construction and shelling out lots of money for multiple electric saws is not for me, I don't even have the storage space, so this has worked great.
he needs to make t shirts of him pointing at you saying “that’s pathetic” 😭😭
just in case you were wondering whether or not idiocracy is a documentary from the future, just remember that enough people bought black and decker tools that they had 14.5 billion dollars in revenue last year
Looks like a great saw to me, love the design. I can’t wait to show up to work with one😂 I can’t believe I was a Dewalt fan. I’m trading my tools in for Blacken Decker. Milwaukee sucks also Great video.
Black & decker can’t even make a drill that lasts longer than a week.
I have a B&D drill that has lasted through years of abuse. It was my dad's EDC running paddle bits, hole saws, wire brushes, and drilling metal. He loved that thing. It's scratched to hell, smells like grease, is more black than orange now, but still holds a good charge and hasn't lost much power at all. I can't complain, it was a $40 Drill. It earned it's keep. I think it might be the blessed B&D, because everything else has been shit.
@@OhPhuckYou Damn lmao, hell of a lucky find then. I had a b&d drill in my first tool set. It came with two batteries and one of them stopped charging in the first few days of use. Then the drill stopped working a few days after. Never again lol.
Man that was an embarrassment how much it was outperformed. To speak to the safety trigger, I think it was mostly done to help with child-proofing, but those double triggers can be a pain to use.
6:50 yall cant tell me that was funny ash 😂😂 made my night

Tyler...have you not heard of the mullet? Business in the front, party in the back. That's why the cord is there, because it's the party side.
when the only thing you care about is how fast you can make the cut...
I know a finish carpenter who loves his. whenever he needs to make a precise cut, he reaches for his black and decker. it's not fast, but it cuts straight and clean. you know, the two things the sawzall didn't do.
I love how tyler gets so mad about the cord!

Aren’t you supposed to put the saw unit up against the face of the wood? Just like the Milwaukee so that the blade has something to pull against. Similar to how the pipe would move back-and-forth with the blade. The more vibrations you feel the less cutting it does per stroke. I honestly don’t think it would make a drastic improvement but I know that cutting some things with a saws all works way better if the stop is against the surface it is cutting.
Yea I think you are right
I noticed this too!
While i would never purchase this over any other reciprocating saw, i imagine that it might make a pretty decent flush cut saw, having tried flush cuts with other RS and having the blades turn down into the working surface i can say the extra blade flat would be nice to keep things on track
I think youre right, but the first cut he did with it, it was barely cutting anything and it was nearly perfectly still.
@@reaperslgc the operational rpm of a standard sawzaw is 2800-3200 rpm, making it very likely that vibrations could sync up at least for short periods with the frame rate of a video or the capture rate of a camera.
@@reaperslgc “still” is subjective though. The reciprocations are way too fast and too small to see. Even in person. This is where engineering learns how to design things better. To really understand what is going on, a high speed camera is needed. The wood though is not necessarily the issue. Part of the reciprocations are transferred into the arm and body instead of into the wood. This is lost motion. It’s the reasons why a hand or arm might hurt after using one. When the object being cut is placed against the tool fence or brace, then the saw has all of its movement going into a cut. In other words it can perform a full cut motion rather than a half cut motion. It absolutely effects timing. Maybe not by 50% though.
Well if you think about it the cord being on top can be considered a safety detail. When your cutting you can throw it over your arm and keep the cord from getting snagged by the teeth.
Man, you got me... I'm not dumb at all.. I watch every video you have, and I didn't think I had seen the dewalt power saw vid.. i remember now, but i turned it off immediately thinking it was fake... well, you made me watch it again and had me going.. This is black and decker's low budget offering meant for general sawing, you're being disingenuous in comparing 2 products from different price level offerings, black and decker has 3 levels of their products, entry, mid and high end. Their mid and high range Reciprocating Saws are pretty good. I still think this product is pretty decent if you're using it for light work, at $30-$40 it's a decent price.

Here me out if someone is going to do a quick project like lets say plumbing and wants to cut a couple pieces of pipe. They dont do work like that all the time but want to save a few bucks. I doubt they want to go spend a few hundred on a Milwaukee just because it cut the pipe 23 seconds faster. If you own your own plumbing company you know time equals money so indeed you would get the Milwaukee. Everything has a purpose. I appreciate the video as always and please dont stop your awesome!
But a big box store recip is likely a similar price, but it takes proper blades!
