The Green Lady sounds a lot like the Cuca from Brazil. She is a a blonde anthro alligator witch that takes away children for eating and using as components for her spells.
When I was a kid I did the Bloody Mary ritual at a friend's house, and it was the variation where you need to spin around. I stubbed my toe while doing this on a nail in the corner of the bathroom and so when the lights went on there was literally blood all over the floor. Great thing for an 8 year old to see!
The Mulher de Branco that I know is one where she wanders along roads far from civilization in the interior of Brazil, if you are in any type of car, she will ask for a ride, if you accept to give her a ride, at one point in the trip she will just say: do you see that curve there? that's where I died! And the story ends here as far as I know.
It's so cool that this is becoming a recurring series because I love learning about all kinds of obscure mythology and this series helped broaden my knowledge of folklore by a lot.
Huh, I'm from Brazil and the version I've heard of the woman in white is completely different. Most of her apparitions I've heard about were near roads or paths through forests, where she will either help lost travelers or just lead them astray, never to be found again. On another note, since you mentioned Bloody Mary and Hanako-san, Brazil also has its on version of them, called "A Loira do Banheiro", or the Blonde in the Bathroom. It's more of an urban legend of a ghostly blonde woman who will appear in bathrooms and try to either scare or kill whoever summoned her. The ritual to summon her is mostly described as taking three strands of hair from a naturally blonde woman and then flushing them down the toilet. Some versions also state that you need to cuss three times in order for the Blonde in the Bathrrom to show up (no, not curse as in wishing ill on someone or casting a hex. Just plain old dropping F-bombs and the like). I would love for her to appear in SMT and be part of a trio with Bloody Mary and Hanako-san, since their stories are so similar.
You know what would be a good ghost. Anne Boylen not only shes a great historical figure and it could be cool to see her using a spell animation where she rips off her near torn head and screams spells like mudo or Agidyne and she like puts it slightly back on. And of course she takes over a Japanese castle to make a reference to the UK's castle or something. Its both historical and horrifying and Doi could make a amazing design
not a ghost story, but one idea sorta similar i have courtesy of the Horrible Histories books is the "Lindow Man". Basically how it goes is back in 1984 a mechanical digger in Lindow, Cheshire came across a shriveled corpse that had been naturally preserved by the swamp-like dirt, with the body itself being scientifically dated back to celtic times. Based on details of the corpse such as painted nails, it was determined he likely wasnt a peasant, but was instead an upper class person turned human sacrifice, but due to lack of any other major celtic stuff remaining in that area, no conclusion could be made on who it was or why they died in such a way. Then, because history nerds enjoy their corpses a bit too much, rather than properly bury the poor nameless guy, he was instead put up in a glass case in a local museum. If we ever returned to Devil Summoner again (not counting soul hackers 2) i could definitely see this guy fitting in with many of the other oddities from that series like all the unique undeads, Oliver the chimp, and so on.
Here's a real spooky addition Black Shuck. He's a black dog or hellhound from British folklore whose said to when you meet his gaze your death will come within one year.
Love to see Hone-Karakasa in Megaten, it's basically Kasa-obake but instead of looking like an oil-paper umbrella with one eye and leg with it's tongue out, it's a oil-paper umbrella with it's outer papers peel off and flying in the sky like a bird and I thought it's cool as hell and kinda cute It's not really a ghost but a yokai but close enough and I just really want people to know this guy
I thought of one… The Brocken Spectre. The Brocken Spectre is a phenomenon that happens when a shadow has a rainbow-like halo behind it. I can imagine it looking like a ghostly angel (preferably the original design of Angel or SMT V's design of angel) wearing black but with a rainbow halo added.

@@ocaradaesquina821 I think they meant me ^^;; I probably pronounced Mulher de Branco wrong. I tried listening to proper sources on how to pronounce it but sometimes I still slip up once I'm at the mic.
I once heard the story of a ghost of a greek soldier who died from torture during either the first or second world war and returns to his homeland to sire children so that his "bloodline can avenge him" or something like that. Personally I think it's just something single moms tell their kids because it sounds cooler than dad being a deadbeat.
You know what's an actual missed opportunity, Junji Ito designing some mons/demons/concept for SMT demons Like it'll have better prospect than having his manga adapted into anime that's like cursed to be scuffed by the showrunners My point; Uzumaki exactly
Bloody Mary is one I knew when I was very young, and it certainly scared me. It's almost what I felt is too popular to be included but different cultures of course. It's just I hadn't thought about that ghost in awhile. Strain you always post great stuff. Also since I am posting thumbs up to your old Rumble Roses review. I love how sincerely they wanted to make the best polygon wrestling game. Candy Cane is the best. Happy Halloween!!! :P Candy ass XD
Keeping up the Louisiana representation, Feu Follet (foo fow-lay), meaning "marsh fire" in French, are essentially the Cajun equivalent to will-o-wisp. They would appear as dancing balls of light in the dark and foggy nights in the swamps, and those who followed them were never seen again (they probably drown). I can see them having some sort of ailments like confusion and maybe ice skills because of the associations w/water or fire due to their name and the real world phenomenon they originated from (ie combustion of natural gases in swamps). Otherwise, still hoping to see Marie Laveau one day.
The Myling strangly makes me think of Jack the ripper in the Fate franchise although there backstory a very different with the only similar thing I notice is being abandoned from there parent from various ways.
Not a ghost but personally I'd love to see Spring Heeled Jack appear in the franchise. Their a similar character to Jack The Ripper and The Mad Gassar of Mattoon
Good luck looking for it, the tiddy ghost i mean I live in Malaysia and ive only heard of it like 3 times throughout my life Well, your encounter with other stuff may be more likely, like toyol, penanghal, weretigers, werecrocodiles, ...
Uh, Strain42... I like your content, but was the egg ghost picture at 8:19, AI generated? Because I noticed some things about that picture that just rub me the wrong way. (For those watching the video in the future, the section where the picture was originally has been trimmed out, The timecode is left here for perservation.)
Ah crap, is it? I tried using the remove AI features on Google when searching for pics, but I think you're right. I'm trying to put a blur over it at the very least, and I appreciate you looking out. Thanks!
@@MARIO1UP2000 Not a problem. It definitely wasn't something I was gonna get defensive about. I wish UA-cam made it a bit easier to fix stuff like that. Honestly, I just trimmed the entire section out. Thankfully I didn't say anything too worthwhile over that brief section. Again, thanks for letting me know!
I still think the concept of an egg ghost would be interesting in SMT games. But for context, I just edited my original comment to add a paragraph for those viewing the video in the future, wondering why there was a quick cut around the time code.
The original SMT actually was gonna feature demonic versions of Mickey and Donald as enemies, but they were removed to avoid a lawsuit from Disney. The sprites are still in the game's code, and they got far more lawyer-friendly artwork in the PC Engine port.

Having the protagonist of the next Persona game phonetically shout out "Jeff!" is all the reason I need to want that last one. lol
That's why I still find it both hilarious and ridiculous that Ryuji has to wind up just screaming "WILLIAM!"

@10:19 Elden ring also uses the holy decapitated martyr imagery for the frenzied flame.
Kuchisake-onna has already been accepted into the yokai canon, and her scissors make for a believable weapon.
Technically she already exists in the franchise, but definitely deserves to come back.

I have an idea for a smt monster/demon. The pocong. It’s a ghost that looks for anyone to been untied.
