Another great video, Heidi! You’re absolutely right all these Olaplex three & K 18 and any other bond masks does not help with split ends. I believe these products help with us beached blondes to not turn our hair into string cheese lol. I finally figured out how to help this problem and that is to always put on a leave in conditioner spray after you shampoo and conditioner in the shower then after you style always, always seal your ends with some sort of oil. This has helped me so much my hairdresser thinks that I trim my ends myself, but I don’t because she says they’re really good. I hope this helps you! Sending you hugs from Canada!

If your hair is: LONG, COLOR-TREATED or BLEACHED / HIGHLIGHTED you are going to get dry, split-ends. Using an OIL TREATMENT will add significantly to your hair health. What I mean by an Oil Treatment: a RICH, Non-Silicone MASQUE / MASK and add 1/2 Oz. Cold-Pressed, Wheat Germ Oil for every 4 Oz. of product and blend thoroughly. Apply to the last 4 to 6 inches of DRY HAIR and apply enough heat until hair is shiny oily then wash as normal this will drive oils into the cuticle layers and seal them in for several washes you should see fewer splits and dry frizzy ends over time.

The reason I stopped using cooking- natural oils is because they're so hard to remove. I usually need to shampoo 3-4 times, and apply it on the ends, which we never have to use (we're supposed to apply it on the scalp and let it go through the ends ).
But if I don't shampoo the ends, the oil stays there forever. Any tips ?

You use a lot of neat tools. Do make sure you are using a dedicated heat protector. Many products say they include heat protection but they are not effective. You need a proper spray product. Also make sure you use a leave in conditioner every wash.

When the ends are split, nothing puts them back together. I find that Olaplex and K18 helpsthe overall strength of the hair and brings it back to life ❤ I use Redken extreme to get protein shots and makes sure I get a lot of moisture in my regular care. I like Kerastase magistral/nutritive and Shu Uemura ultimate reset for shampoo, conditioner and mask + Kerastase Ultime oil and/or Shu Uemura oil. My hair doesn’t split like it used to before I figured out repair and prevention like this 😅 My hair was really healthy, so I didn’t brother + new products are on the market 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's the thing, there's no repairing split ends. You either hide them by sealing the ends of your hair or prevent them. I'm working on preventing them by always using leave-in products after washing and applying hair oil to my ends everynight. I think the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Huile is perfect for this, even if I get too excited and add too much, my hair usually just absorbs it during the night.

I think people just don't understand the difference between the chemical and physical properties of hair and expect something that works on the disulfide bonds to somehow mend or prevent split ends that are caused by physical damage.
ETA: Also hair that has the least split ends and breakage is typically coarse hair (which means thick in diameter. not a feeling or appearance). Studies show that Asian hair is the coarsest and most resilient hair due to it having the most cuticle layers which is also part of the reason why it's so hard to lift Asian hair typically. Bond repair cannot give someone cuticle layers. That's a physical property not a chemical one. I also don't believe it can repair completely destroyed and disconnected bonds. Only weakened ones. So bleached hair will always be damaged even after using bond repair products and the ends of hair will always be the most damaged due to general wear and tear.

Moroccan oil mending infusion . It is supposed to help with split ends . I have been thinking of to get it for the longest time.. so here's what it claims on their website
"Instantly seal split ends for a silky, fresh-cut appearance with Mending Infusion. This quick-fix finisher not only seals up to 90% of split ends, but also nourishes and helps strengthen hair to prevent future damage and treat weakened strands. Created for use on dry hair, the ultra-lightweight, fast-absorbing formula includes argan oil for a satin finish, larch tree extract to physically envelope strands and bind frayed ends, and a blend of naturally derived ingredients to help treat hair by strengthening, improving elasticity, and protecting against future breakage."

Not to scare you but I will tell you this every time I get rid of split ends they come right back. It’s the bleach. It’s damaged up the shaft. Heidi, I have bleached blonde hair that's past my lower back and t his is what I do. After trying many things like you did I decided to use common sense and started using regular shampoo and conditioner at drugstore and after I styled my I did chose to use one of these things- 1- I put a tiny bit of vaseline on finger tips and put on all areas that are frizzy and it makes your hair look like its new. or -2- I spread a body lotion with mineral oil in my hands and put into bottom half of my hair making sure to get the ends makes hair look wonderful. or - 3- I put pure argan oil in my hair on bottom half. These 3 things were the most successful for me without doing any work at all and not spending the money. My hair looks wonderful using these methods and using common sense, you can only coat your hair because nothing will repair damaged hair but coating it with anything like waxy things or oils like vaseline is miraculous.
