Hi Heidi! Love your video! I’m certified in both and you are correct, it’s hard to compare products that work differently, it’s like comparing a moisturizer to a serum, both can leave the skin moisturized but the action mechanism is different. K18 is amazing to repair peptide chains, and olaplex is good to repair disulfide bonds ( the “glue” that holds the peptide chains together) that’s why combine you get the ultimate hair!

I’ve used both regularly and they have different effects on my hair, but they are both very good. I wet my hair, put Olaplex 3 in, on with plastic cap. At least 45 min, but can do longer, even though 10 min is good too. Was it out with my regular shampoo and condition. With K18 I need a very rich shampoo, K18 for 4 min and then a ton of moisture on top to make it livable. It still looks horrible afterwards 😂 Olaplex makes my hair a lot softer, while K18 helps quicker when my hair has just been bleached. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks Heidi! Ive been using both. Olapex 3 years and k18 for 2 years give or take. I just don't think the two can be compared. They both yield very different results, clearly. Olaplex is like a mask. Used regularly and hair feels strong. I use k18 six times after bleaching roots and I don't need until my next hair salon visit. FYI I have 3c curl, bleach blond. With K18, after bleaching my hair is manageable. Looks way better than with Olaplex immediately after a salon visit. My curls are loser but within a couple washes and k18 my curls come back.
With Olaplex during and after bleaching it takes about 2 months for my curls to go back to 3b and cannot get my curls back to before bleaching, even 2 years after. which is what I used to do before k18. I would use Olaplex all year long. With k18, 6-8 washes and I stop. I do love the Olaplex 8, mask even more than Olaplex 3. I use it after I stop with k18.

Anyway I bought the little sample tube to try it and I was really amazed at how my hair looked and felt even after that first treatment, how smooth and healthy my hair was. I then watched your review video of K18 also and because of that I purchased the full bottle. I also bought the peptide prep shampoo and the combination of using them both even my hairdresser was amazed at the difference in my hairs’ condition. Hi Heidi!
Love your videos!!! So informative and well detailed!
Just an fyi k18 only repairs the hairs polypeptide chains and disulfide bonds. And does not coat the hair in any way so therefore it does not act as a heat protectant which is why it’s recommended to follow through with your regular styling products after the 4 min of applying.
If you find you need extra moisture after the 4 min you can always use your favourite hair mask or conditioner over top of the k18!
    Results are amazing!
Also if you haven’t tried the k18 detox shampoo OMG it works so amazing at keeping the hairs cuticles closed while shampooing therefore less tangles and more softness and less color fading!!!
My hair felt so soft after using their detox shampoo
It’s such an amazing shampoo and I feel like you’d love it!

The products are not comparable. Olaplex No. 3 is not intended for styling or hydration; it is for nourishing the hair, preventing breakage, and repairing damage. It’s not correct to leave Olaplex on the hair for more than 1 hour, you must rinse it out.

I can spread it more evenly and my hair feels softer than when i apply it on damp hair alone and then I rinse. I also use olaplex 3 after shampoo not before but I make sure to rinse it out thoroughly than follow with 4 in 1 mask cause the no. 5 and no.8 arent the best for my hair and then follow with olaplex 9 or 6 and 7. The oplex side has more body, not as weighted down. But, yes looks not as great. The k18 side is obviously heavier & more weighted down. I use oplex line at the moment. It does exactly what it does to your side you did it on. I put redkin 25 spray for detangling in wet before brushing so eliminate damage and the number 6 to reduce frizz. I have bleached from black to blonde hair. Down my back long. K18 can be to heavy for some. Depends on your hair really. Mix both I say. There both different & work different ways. But I love the oplex shampoo & conditioner makes the hair like butter. K18 much easier leave & go... add a leave in mask/conditioner like redkin 25 which is for heat also. Oplex number 6 if still your not liking the k18 and leave in, will finish smoothing out & silk it. Recommended trying around to see if it's going to be to weighted down the next day thou.

My hair was on bleach 3 times (I'm a hairmodel) I worked for Toni & Guy. I had thick long blonde hair before, it's broken and really thin now, she said she bleached too much! I have Olaplex 3, but I bought K18. How long before it will grow back? Is there a chance that K18 can bring back thickness in a short time so I don't have to cut it? It's still pretty long, but really damaged and shorter on the sides..

Is this a sponsored video? That's really important info to know for viewers because I'm seeing this huge push from K18 and many are sponsored and I wonder if you are paid for a review by one or the other. Maybe you did address that and I just missed it in the video. I'm wondering also because in my opinion the Olaplex side looked way better and your hair looked clean whereas the K18 side looked dirty/limp (like how my own hair looks before I wash on wash day) and heavy and even darker color because of all the product. t's clear K18 is going after Olaplex customers too which is fine so long as it performs like Olaplex. Based on this video at least I would say no it doesn't perform as well but it's all subjective since maybe you think the K18 side looked and felt better and maybe you don't mind heavy hair. Anyway thanks for the review and comparison. I was thinking about trying K18 but at that price point I'm likely to just stick with the Olaplex #3 that I know works. I don't use 4 or 5 just #3 alone works wonders. It left me with beautiful spiral curls all over my head whereas before my dry, damaged, color treated hair looked like someone used a waffle iron on my hair. Now my hair is soft and bouncy and it isn't so brittle anymore where it couldn't spiral. I owe that to Olaplex 3. I'm going to use Olaplex 8 next since lack of moisture is a problem and I heard 8 is good for that.
