Tabletop junkie here, lemme give you a resume on the lore: -Werewolfs are the earth spirit's "immune system",trying to cleanse Earth -They are angry idiots and tend to start fights, doing more damage than what they fix -There are actual evil werewolfs and evil spirits trying to destroy Earth, they're not just crazy -Being part spirit, werewolves have this cool shaman stuff, with the most basic skill being that they can physically enter the "spirit world" -Rage can take over a werewolf and make him into a monster, permanently -They share the same universe with Vampire:The Masquerade. Vampires are also evil to werewolves due to being unnatural dead things, thus werewolves will kill on sight. Being a roleplaying game, there are always exceptions, and there are some hippy vampires that ride with werewolves. Becoming a vampire while being a werewolf will kill you, either at the moment of the bite or later. From point 5 I'm guessing there's a morality system around how much you use frenzy and combat skills, Matt should probably take care with that "frenzy" mechanic (in the tabletop game, that's when you give in to the rage and lose control of your character, temporarily or permanently)
Can confirm, there isn't technically a morality / humanity system, but you do have Renown, which is essentially reputation. Do too much dumb stuff against Gaia's will by accident, and you might de-rank, never progress in power, get banished, or convince werewolf society to murder you. The reputational loss varies tribe to tribe, species to species, and moon auspice (yeah, thats a thing) to moon auspice, but otherwise, you can theorhetically do anything, whenever you want to. You can, if you fuck up enough, end up getting mind broken, going insane, and becoming a psychotic Black Spiral Dancer, that serves the Wyrm / evil & destruction incarnate. But that makes retires your character into an unplayable NPC. Also, and I'm sorry for the text dump, vampires convert things to vampires by draining them of all blood, and then giving them vampiric blood, which is supposed to kill werewolves. However, it also has a relatively small chance of turning the werewolf into an Abomination, which is a screwed up werewolf vampire hybrid that is deteriorating into insanity and death, and usually isn't playable.
@@TheWeaklyPaper my fellow OWoD dude, I know my way around Gaia's teeth, I was wondering about the game probably having a "bad end". Thanks for the infodump for newbies, though.
