    Writing Task 2 Tips:
    1. No need to write a background statement
    2. Answer the prompt directly
    3. Make things general, but keep them specific to the topic
    4. Use vocabulary that you understand and accurate with
    5. Write exactly what you think, and why you think it
    6. Always pick the idea that is the easiest for you to write about
    7. Make your essay parts related to each other
    8. Provide one reason and an explanation for that reason, instead of providing a list of reasons

Well, I may be wrong, but reading the Band 6 essay, makes me think it might have been written by someone whose first language is Spanish, Italian, French, or Portuguese. I am an Italian speaker and it makes perfect sense to me, even if I know that in English it doesn't. We use a lot of words that come from Latin because they are similar to ours and easier for us to remember, not because we want to impress the examiner. We don't even realize they are fancy and "unnatural" to an English speaker. I perfectly understand what they mean with "ricapitolate", which is not a word in English, but they are literally trying to translate the word "ricapitolando" which means "to summarize". Even when they say "pedagogical benefits", the literal translation makes perfect sense in my language.
It's clear that this person as not have exceptional language skills and they totally deserve a Band 6, BUT it hurts to hear how the examiner perceives them as someone "who didn't understand the question", who didn't even know what they are writing, who is "memorizing", or trying to impress. This person perfectly knows what they are thinking and trying to say, just they don't know how to do it in English.

    Takeaways:
    1. there's no need for a background sentence
    2. take a firm stance on the questions
    3. make specific references to your main points in the introduction
    4. Use more authoritative examples
    5. fully elaborate an idea rather than touching on many ideas briefly

My wife and I booked an IELTS academic exam with only 10 days worth of study time, not knowing what we would be up against (did I mention we have toddlers who made studying near impossible?)
Luckily we discovered IELTS Advantage and Chris's lessons quickly and took a gamble by focussing on this channel ONLY for the 10 days, achieving an avg of 8 and 8.5 across all categories respectively!
Chris, thanks so much for helping us to complete this daunting task. You're videos are excellently presented with lots of positivity, hope and motivation. I dont think many people noticed this, but on your website I saw that you even placed your own profile at the very bottom of your 'Team list', a true reflection of the type of person we discerned you to be.
Once again, thanks for all the great help and not adding to our huge IELTS expense bill (being from South Africa the exam costs an arm and a leg). Knowing what I know now, I'll surely recommend your videos and additional, paid classes to friends and family.

'Do not do this' videos demotivate many. Frankly saying, I do not think that somebody accepts ielts examiners as stupid. I would not apply any emotions while checking the texts as each person has/is free to show off his/her skills. Another point: all Cambridge sources of preparing to IELTS claim to have: Introductory part-paragraph 1-paragraph2-conclusion. If a student uses some cliche, will it be accepted by an examiner as the student makes jokes to him/her? Isn't it unprofessional? Isn't such an approach questionable? Is there anything in the accessment regulations requiring to reduce scores for using cliches?

i do appreiate the time and effort you put into the teaching us, but what i completelly do not approval of your ideas that we should not use templates and memorized phrases. For the main reason only. Memorizing is the only one way to learn any language any information actually. Are not all the words in the word are memorized? If a sentence is written meaningfully and correctly, it should not concern the examiner whether it was memorized or written without preparation. We are learners and as children we memerozie words and collocations. So, i find it outrageous when such a professional scolds us for using templates. If we are able to write a proper piece of text in English, you should praise us but not discourage from the most effective method probably. Do you think that we would not use all these phrases in real life? Definitely we do! Is not a honest way of learning?
With all due respect to you and your work, sir.
P.S. I am not Logan Paul.

I must say this is quite useful, and I’m learning more and more every day from these tutorials even though I have quite advanced knowledge of English. In addition, demonstrating others’ mistakes gives me that boost to improve me from falling into the same errors. I sincerely appreciate your help, Sir.

I got access to EnglishExamPrep tutorials and they have direct written strategies to use for specific questions. The trash I have been following, got me only 6 band in writing. This video sums up my lacking in writing. Thank you chris! You are a unsung hero. And I will update to you how much I got improved once I have taken ILETS by the end of this month.

May I ask a question? Are we allowed to put another idea in the conclusion? Because I thought I'm only allowed to summarize what I'd written in the conclusion. I wonder why in the conclusion you add another opinion of parents should restrict phone usage of their children. Please give me an answer, I'm just very confused right now
