Well, it is not hard to find an IELTS essay start with the template: "This paper will discuss ... , My writing will discuss ..." which is an absolutely terrible opening for a beginning. Not many examiners talks about this problem.

Another significant issue is maintaining a balance between healthy eating and regular exercise to improve overall health, not just appearance. While working out at the gym can be challenging for some, alternative activities such as biking, hiking, and other forms of exercise can also effectively support weight loss and physical fitness. Additionally, ensuring adequate intake of essential vitamins, particularly vitamin D, is crucial for maintaining a healthy body.

Hi. I have another recomendations. at 18:10
“studies show” instead of “studies shows” to match the plural subject.
Use “the high number” instead of “the higher numbers” to avoid comparison and confusion.
Use “is” instead of “are” to match the singular subject “the high number”.
Use “exercising” instead of “excercises” to correct the spelling and the verb form.
Add a comma after “junk food” to separate the two independent clauses.
    Is that correct?

Thanks for all your great points but in fact the country that you are taking the exam really matters. In my country, Iran, unfortunately many examiners pay attention to academic and complex words. For example the band 6.0 that you read in the video will get 5.0 or even less in Iran
I think there should be an option that if we have any doubt in the correction of our writing, we can report it to IELTS center in UK and they recorrect the paper themselves.

    Very helpful video, sir.
By the way, I have a question:
Some books I have read show me that I should use some modal verbs like "could", "may", or "might" to "soften" the language and avoid over-generalisation. Can you show me in which cases should I use these to soften the language and when to use affirmative language, please?

    • @QuynhNguyen-lr3zb
      @QuynhNguyen-lr3zb Рік тому

I also have that thoughts, some students seem to be quite subjective while using affirmative language, so I'm also wondering this

In this video, our teacher looks excited! Thanks for the information. Still, I’ve got two questions here. First, is using affirmative words different from hedging languages and making less generalized ideas? The second one is that the official book of Cambridge Guide to IELTS mentions one way to express a personal view by using modals such as might or could, on page 127, 3.B. Thanks again, and please don’t blame me for having too many questions, I’m just one inquisitive 14-year-old kid.
    😅

Affirmative language is confident - yes, it is slighly different. --- Cambridge books give some advice that does not lead to high scores.

Hi, i really do like this channel, please if it is possible could you make a video about how to use " the" . I mean it is easy when i need to just remember some grammar rules about "the" but when it is about the specificity of a subject it becomes really confusing, i had been searching for answers on the internet and still couldn't find any video with proper explanation in it.😢When i write the ielts essays, I always spend most of my time just guessing if i should use " the " before a subject or shouldn't, THIS " THE " DESTROYS MY LIFE AND MENTAL HEALTH ON A DAILY BASIS, PLEASE HELP :(

‘ in my opinion, the main reason is that people do not have time to prepare a healthy meal for themselves mostly due to their busy work life , and fast foods are an easy option for them. Another reason is that , people prefer to sit on the sofa and watch TV all day long instead of going to gym and doing some exercises to improve their physical fitness levels.’ Is that correct?

Really appreciate! How about the LR criteria, sir? It seems that the vocabulary you used in the band 9 version does not reach to C1, C2 levels. So, is it necessary to add high-level and fancy vocabulary while we are writing?

I saw a video mentioning that the IELTS test is designed to basically just examine whether an individual can communicate something clearly. The video that I saw also suggested against using the standard essay structure which I was about to use in my IELTS test. It was mentioned that the reader or examiner is looking at how good the writer is in communicating his message across to the reader and writing a hook sentence is useless as the reader is not looking to really read the essay and get hooked but just to examine the writer. I am so confused.

@@lollol-p9p1o I got a 7 and I did not follow this guy, I wrote a simple essay without using the standard structure that we are taught. Just make it clear and concise. It was 3 years ago so I don't know if this will help.
