Thanks for the ABBA. And belated "Happy New Year". In my book it's the best song for New Years. It's like that with a lot of their music. It's like they wrote a soundtrack for my life. Stay safe.
Fun fact....ABBA were so popular that they had more consecutive No1 albums (8) than The Beatles in the UK...A record that they held jointly with Led Zeppelin for 36 years until recently surpassed by Eminem....I love this song by them...keep up the great reactions JAYY.

it is important to understand the context in which this song was written. In time of the Cold War. The United States and the then Soviet Union competed to see who had more and better atomic weapons. There was a sense of fear and discouragement about the future. Remember that in places like Switzerland, people built their own nuclear shelters. That is why the song says that we do not know what will await us at the end of 1989. They are singing it in 1981.
And by the end of 1989 the Berlin wall had fallen down! Almost like a foresight. I'm from former East Berlin and this coincidence strikes me every time I hear this song ❤️

This is an ABBA classic for all December/January dates
A beautiful song with a soft melody at the beginning, a melancholic lyrics with the beautiful and very sweet interpretation of the blonde Agnetha, a brilliant chorus with Frida (especially the power of her second voice in the second and third stanza) and a catchy chorus with the melody that grows and falls in love All ingredients of ABBA
The lyrics are so emotional, contrast with an very catchy chorus
It's no funny, it's melancolich, but have a message of hope
"Happy New Year" is a great song from the 1980 album "Super Trouper" (which includes the homonymous song and "The winner takes it all" among others)
It has a version in Spanish: "Felicidad" which was a hit here in my country
Now in November 2021, ABBA include a Christmas song tittle "Little things" in their new album "Voyage", that also was released as a single the last week with a special video:

This album came out during my very early days in my new home, Boston. I remember listening to it and thought it was so beautiful. I have been an ABBA fan since the '70's and this album came out at the right time for me. I have been playing this song every new year's eve ever since and to this day I think it is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Thanks for your reactrion!!

Very sad and beautiful Abba song... it came in 1980 after Bjorn & Agnetha had divorced, and Benny & Anni-Frid were going that way too. So it was a very uncertain moment for the group, kind of sensing that the end of their career was coming...
Love the Kiss t-shirt... That is one band I would highly recommend seeing in concert before they end their touring days... FUN show, great rockin' music... and plenty of pyro 🔥🔥🤘🤘 A great way to "Rock n roll all nite" (and party every day!)

Hard as I try (and more than once of the years), I just can never get into ABBA's music. But, I think I'm in the minority.
Never!? It is possible, it seems to me only if you do not know the diversity, the richness of the musical styles they have produced. Europeans and others around the world know that it is not only the hits of abba Gold, in particular, that is reductive.
