Hey everyone! Thanks for watching my reaction to Monsters University! See you on Monday for Meet The Robinsons!!
cody next time madagascar or wall-e and minions plssssss cody
I used to watch that movie all the time! I love it! Can’t wait!
Yes! That movie is so underrated and awesome! And one other thing is that it has one of my favorite quotes! “Keep Moving Forward.” Can’t wait for Monday!
If you don’t mind, Cody, could you react to the Ice Age movies? Plz? They’re really funny!
You are going to cry !
8:11 - “This particular child has a fear of snakes so a roar would not make him scream, it would make him cry.” This is GREAT continuity. Remember what Boo did when she saw Sulley roar in the first movie? And the fact that her assigned monster was the snake-like guy??
Nice catch
Well noticed! I never thought of that
Holy f....I just realized that! Oh my God, that's so clever!
I’m certainly not the first to notice it tbh but what fantastic attention to detail!! 😄
Oh! Interesting!
As I said in the community post, Mike never got to be a scarer, but it turns out the perfect job for Mike just didn't exist yet. What he was really meant to do was to make children laugh, they all just needed Boo to see that.
i like that it wasnt so much that mike wanted to be a scarer, he just wanted to do something that people were able to acknowledge and respect him for so he chose scaring because its one of the most important things a monster can do. At the end he realizes that it wasnt fair for him to do so cause he would eventually not like it.
This has one of the best themes in any Pixar movie being that it is okay to not be that special but if you work hard, you would find yourself at the top in no time
Very true, the mindset that you can always achieve great things with hard work is great. Talent can get you somewhere, but hard work and perseverance always triumph over raw talent. Love that message!
Fun fact: Billy Crystal, the voice actor of Mike, was originally offered to play Buzz Lightyear. He turned it down thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, and considered it the biggest mistake of his career. He immediately jumped on when they asked him to play Mike.
Wow, can't imagine him voicing Buzz
Yeah I heard that there is a clip of buzz with Billy Crystal’s voice
Tim Allen is a better Buzz, Chris Evans was OK as Buzz in Lightyear, but nothing will ever beat Tim's Buzz voice
Mike and Sully are the ultimate duo. Mike knows all the scare tactics, but doesn't have the means to do them. While Sully a very good scarer. But isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
Classic tale of brains and brawn's team.
And now they're the big bosses of Monsters, Inc. What a road to success!
Randal was so nice in the first half, I need a friend like him when I go to college.
Yeh. He was really nice. Just got the bad influence from those guys. Man they suck LOL
Randall was so lovely when we first meet him!! I wish that he hadn't joined ROR, maybe he and Mike could still have been friends. Maybe in Monsters At Work we'll have some luck.
Me too.
Fr
@@howrude9822 plus mike wasn’t really being a nice friend look at when he went to event wit Randy. He barely paid any attention to the event. His face is always in the books. But when the rors had a party and mike came with sully mike never even looked in a book or even brought one for that matter. He was all into the party
Security Guard: HEY! What are you doing up there?!
Art: I CAN'T GO BACK TO JAIL!!😅😅😅😅
Did he went to jail?
@@PussInBootsTheLastWishFan2003 I Don't know.
@@gavinrice2246 what did he do? He needs a spin-off about when he got to jail
If that ever happened, then we know why he can't go back to jail.
@@gavinrice2246 thats obvious
Finally! Someone finally watched this one! I prefer it to Monsters Inc, but no one reacts to it. Thank you, Cody 😄
Monsters University is a fantastic film but no way is it better than Monsters Inc.! Monsters Inc. is the BEST in every way.
@@kaibutsu0163 agreed. I like University but a story about trying to save a human child from a corrupt monster company is a lot more appealing to me than trying to become a scarer. The soundtrack, pacing, characters and emotional scenes I felt are done better in the old one as well but university is easily funnier ill give it that.
@Layton T. Montgomery yeah. Monsters Inc. Is just like always on the run but Monster Uni is like challenges and more of their life.
Monsters Inc. is one of those films where you love the high points, but they are mixed in between the bland parts. It's a good movie with great writing, but not a very consistent one.
@Layton T. Montgomery university was super sad for me. mike wasowski tried so hard but just wasn't able to make it as a scarer. great movie tho.
I think it's pretty cool that it supports the fact that you don't necessarily need school to make it far in life. I never completed high school, so I can really relate to that portion of it. You don't need a degree under your belt to be able to get to where you wanna go, you just have to start small and work your way up to it. Experience beats theory, anyways.
I completed high school but completely bypassed college and I'm glad I did
I never planned on going to college, but I also wanted to become a filmmaker. I do intend on completing High school and continue to work on my channel and sooner or later, I'll get to where I want.
This one REALLY comes from a weird place. Not only do we know going in that Mike is absolutely going to fail at his only goal, we also remember that the goal is a near-total LIE because scaring isn't that necessary AND is incredibly harmful to the humans.
Yes but by the end of the original movie he technically becomes one, well more of a laugher then a scare. Plus who can take credit for helping create one of the most well known scarer
It’s weird cuz we know the end result, but it makes that end result even more meaningful. This movie proves that just cuz he failed at the thing he wanted most, doesn’t mean there wasn’t other options available for him. He was indispensable to his friend’s growth as well, and both went so far despite their fears of failure.

@@Deadpool-fh6ve Cool.😁
This movie is so underrated, this movie is basically about people with disabilities and people who judge them, thinking they can't do it, sometimes it can be true but they can find there own passion from their experiences
Also remember folks, he doesn't take requests
As someone with disabilities I agree with this.
An amusing detail I like from this movie is how Randall only looks so mean and threatening because he has to squint his eyes to see better
Ikr lol
I'm going to start squinting now and see if anyone starts being intimidated by me
3:36: Little fun fact: he actually reappeares in a post credits scene where he finally gets to a class room, only to find out that he missed the entire semester.
Yea if you watch the whole video... that scene is in my reaction
lol imagine giving a funfact but forgot to see the whole video
Not the semester, the entire school year
The principal is my personal favorite character, she has sense, her pride is well deserved but she knows when to let it down.
This movie gets some flack, but honestly it has some morals that even adults have to kinda ponder on for a time about chasing dreams and adapting and overcoming expectations. And the climax where Sulley scared the adults makes the *whole movie* , man it gives you chills!!
When art yells: I can't go back to jail!
*Makes me wonder what else he's done to get him so scared..*
The theme of this movie, that not everyone can do what they want due to physical or mental limitations due to things outside of their control is so important to me. Most stories talk about how “u can do everything if you put ur mind to it!” but that is simply not true to life most of the time. The message that your success or failures in your dreams doesn’t mean your life is worthless, and there are other things out there.
And that’s why Randall is a villain in the original one and honestly I liked him always as a villain and now even more becose of his backstory becose if Sally was teamed up with someone else he would showed himself and maybe it would all be different, or maybe his destiny was meant to be villain😅
this movie is so underrated in my opinion!
And overhated! In my case, is one of my favorites of Pixar
I agree, it’s a fun Pixar film if you ask me.
@Crimson Xero yeah
Me too.
@Crimson Xero what the..
Its so gooddd
sullys roar sends chills down my spine every time
same but with him and Worthington
@@astrocopjr8 yeah me too
For a prequel story that focuses on Mike and Sulley’s time in monster college, I had a great time with this film. I look forward to the Disney+ spinoff that’s planned for us (Monsters at Work), it looks like fun.
So far, it's an improving climax-of-_Monsters, Inc._ midquel series.
Something that I find so fascinating after watching this movie through your reaction is that I just noticed that Randall, Mike, and Sulley switch "roles" if you will between Monster's Inc. and Monster's University. Whilst Randall and Mike are good friends as seen by their small moments on screen, Sulley is the rival that's so determined to be better than Mike and has a personal vendetta against him as he sees him as a threat to getting into ROR. Then over time, Mike and Sulley become friends and Randall their rival for the same reason: he sees Sulley as a personal threat to being on top. It's also so interesting that Randall and Sulley deal with the same issue of self validation, they both lack confidence in themselves so they look for it in others. Sulley with joining the top team on campus, and Randall with basically everyone around him. Don't you ever think that it's a little odd that Randall is so willing to listen to Mike about getting rid of his glasses SECONDS after meeting him? And making cupcakes to get people to like him, even joining ROR is just wanting validation from people. How else to get it if not by being part of the bigshot group? But while Sulley got to have Mike help him overcome that insecurity and doubt and be free to become to humble, lovable, and expert Scarer he is, Randall never does. Hence why he's so determined to not just beat the All Time Scare Record, but also get the Scream Extractor to work. He wants to be on top to get the validation he sees Sulley always "taking" from him, because he never had a Mike to let him know that just being himself is enough. I wonder how different things would've been if Mike hadn't been kicked out because of Sulley? Or if he wasn't so focused on his own ambitions to let their friendship fall apart?
EXACTLY.
This movie is soooooo underrated.
It's along the same vein as Soul, when they remind you just because your life doesn't go the way you planned, doesn’t make everything you went through is worthless.
"I can't go back to jail"
When I first heard that line, I was shocked and then I started laughing. It's so funny for no reason!
I normally don't like prequels since we already know some of the things that will happen but Monsters University just does it so well! And I thought the end was such a twist from what I thought it would be. And there's so many cute moments/characters. Overall, this is one of my favourite movies!
Fun fact: in the original they said that Mike and Sully were freinds since their were in kindergarten and not in university so this is a little reboot too
I noticed that until now.
The filmmakers pondered with that before making the movie, but one excuse they came up with is maybe it’s just an expression in the Monster world. Kinda like “a million years ago”. It’s not literal, just an exaggeration.
It’s not a very strong excuse, but it’s there.
The “My god...” at the end of the reaction was hysterical lol.
I’m such a sucker for college stories and this one tells a really good story even if they do ignore some details from the original movie.
Fun fact: the energy generated from children's screams are stored in a gaseous state, this is why instead of wires there are valves and pipes!
I think this movie is kind of underrated for being a prequel
It is, actually.
This movie came out after I graduated high school. Hearing the drum set play here and there from the band just brought waves of nostalgia for me! It was also really powerful to watch sully become vulnerable when they can't escape the human world. I just love this movie!
I’m just waiting for someone to make fan art of Cody as a Monsters inc character
👀👀👀👀 I would loveeee that!
Stop, now I'm tempted to make some XD
People might be bothered by the continuity of Sulley and Mike didn't meet until High School despite Mike saying "You've been jealous of my looks since fourth grade!" in Monsters Inc. Dan Scanlon and his team tried their hardest to make Sulley and Mike meet in Elementary School but not become friends until they're reunited in College but they couldn't get it to work, so they abandoned the idea. The fixing of the continuity of the line is that "you've been jealous of my looks since fourth grade" is a common saying among monsters, therefore doesn't have to be true with real life.
The first movie will forever be my favourite and the one that I’ll remember the most but rewatching this has made me remember how GOOD the second one was, I watched it in the cinema years ago and it’s underrated ✨
I realy like more that movie than the first one, both are great but that one just added so more life for the monster world, and that felling of figuring out what you want to be its so good, great reaction man
The first one was good, but personally, it just feels like they're running around the factory half the movie.
@@everestcanyon5647 yeah, its more job related stuff, seeing a bunch of teenagers doing crazy things its more fun to watch
I’m glad I’m not the only one who liked the second one a little better even though they’re both good 😂
One of my main nitpicks is that Mike (or Sully, I don't remember) in Monsters Inc. Says that Sully has been jealous of his looks since the fourth grade, hinting that they've known each other since they were much younger.
It's a small thing but it bugs me 😭
The filmmakers pondered with that before making the movie, but one excuse they came up with is maybe it’s just an expression in the Monster world. Kinda like “a million years ago”. It’s not literal, just an exaggeration.
It’s not a very strong excuse, but it’s there.
The jumpscare at 22:29 made my heart pop out of my chest first time I watched this, was worse cos another friend touched my shoulders from behind thus adding to the scare
Fun fact: this movie (or really a 2nd Monster's Inc) was actually suppose to be a sequel. It was to be about Mike and Sully going on a search for Boo years later after she moved.
But things happened and then it was decided to make a prequel. It's still a great movie and it's nice to see how many things get set up.
Great reaction as always!
14:56 The way he took off running though😂😂😂
One of my favorite scenes in this movie was after the Hide n' Sneak scene.
After ROR comes out, barely anyone's cheering them...but when Oozma Kappa comes out, people are cheering like crazy
Probably because OK were the under dogs of the teams, and they started demolishing the rest of the competition
This is actually my favorite of the two movies. It’s really good :D I need to find someone to watch it with me.
Just wanna let you know Cody that when I clicked into one of your videos, I immediately started loving your content! Too bad you're pretty underrated, just remember that you can do it bro! You always make my day! :)
I honestly felt bad for the yellow slug monster. He tried as hard he could, but he still missed the whole semester.
This is such an underrated movie ! Glad to see that it received attention
ItsTotallyCody: She's like Davy Jones's mom.
Me: She's more like Davy Jones's Grandma. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I was kinda wanting a sequel but I still liked this movie. The one thing that bugged me about this movie is I wished Mike and Sully met when they were kids.
according to the first movie, they DID. "You were jealous of my good looks since the 4th grade"--Mike to Sully on their way to work
@@giraffedragon6110 maybe when they went to the university they haven’t met in years so that’s why they don’t remember theirselves well.
@@PussInBootsTheLastWishFan2003 maybe he was bluffing? Like, exaggerating things lol.
ua-cam.com/video/E41gsAAFwdU/v-deo.html
Well they were suppose to do that but they changed their minds for some reason
@@giraffedragon6110 I read in an article, I honestly don’t remember which but if you want I can find it, that it was written as a joke. Not literally since 4th grade but more of like “I could run laps around you before you could even walk” type of thing.
What I learned from this one is that college isn’t important. 🤣
I've always wondered something. How did Sulley not only have the time, but the opportunity, to break open the setting door and change Mike's settings when the simulation rooms had cameras?
Did you know that Hardscrabble is Nyra from the Owls of Ga’Hoole?
I knew she sounded familiar. Nyra scares me. But she led to inspiration for one of my Regular Show original characters. That being Crystal.
This one is underrated. God, I love it.
It gives a new perspective to know that Mike and Sully were successful in their careers despite being college dropouts.
I remember watching this when I was little and now it turned out to be one of my favorites!
Monsters Inc is gem but I enjoyed the prequel even more. 😊 And like others have mentioned, the message that you *can* in fact succeed without having graduated college is a good one! I’m all for it. Thanks for another great reaction, can’t get enough of these!
I guess you didnt notice the inconsistency of the 2319. When they were in camp scaring grown ups, they touched many toys, and used them. This is when everyone believed kids things were toxic. Otherwise, i always enjoy watching your reactions
Im so glad you didnt forget to watch this one after the first one
In 2021 there was a series
Monsters at work that show is nice too
They showed what really happend with the abominable snowman
Basically he was banished after he came to know waternose plan
And people thought he's evil
Yes he was banished just like how he kicked mike and sulley in arctic
Art looks likes He had escaped From Aardman animation and Muppet show at the same time.
11:01 for some reason I fell in love with that goth monster after she said that
Randall looks adorable with glasses!!! XDDD
I don't really understand how Johnny got a better score then Sully seeing as he made his room and the other room shake.
The other room shaked bcoz of his roar not bcoz of the screaming of the kid. The marks depends on the scream of the kid
@@manasas868 ah OK, thanks

Am I the only one who thinks Mike should be the scariest. Like if you saw a lot of these monsters you could subconsciously recognize them. You would probably think Sully’s some kind of animal. But Mike is a giant green circle with a giant eye and skinning limbs. He’s so unnatural he should naturally be the scariest.
