    Okay, lets be honest here. The Bear Grylls product line isn't that good in quality BUT it's not supposed to be in the first place. It's supposed to be affordable by the everyday person. Yes, there are better products in the same price league but you need to know where to find it and for people who don't know much about knifes, Bear Grylls gear is a good go to for starters.
    Now we're getting to the part about Bear Grylls himself. There are WAY to many "real survivalists" and "outdoor men" in the comment sections that claim Grylls ain't one. I guarantee you that YOU reading this and Grylls put in the same environment with the same gear, left to survive on your own; he'll make it longer than you. That guy is a damn EX SAS Soldier and while (of course) he stays at hotels and has good food while making his shows, he's very much capable to survive on his own. His shows are made for every day people who don't know much about surviving to teach them basic skills to survive long enough to be rescued.
    So please STFU, thank you.

    the think i like about a paracord knife is that you could use a differnet pattern and or colour of paracord too make it your own

    Hey Devil Dog, what worries me about this knife is you know as well as I do that if you stab something hard, like bone, that finger groove isn't gonna stop your hand from sliding up the blade. First thing we young Marine were taught in knife fighting is expect to be cut. Wish he'd make one with a better finger/hand stop.

    I own a LOT of great knives, and I have to ask- why a paracord knife? Why not just put a good effective grip on it and keep some paracord in the pack for whatever? IMO this just makes it a cheap knife to make with a crappy handle...

    I love how he says "good quality grade steel" aha its probably a 440 steel of some sort. I cant see it being a terrible knife. But I have felt bg knives and they have shit edges! If you want a good knife. People trust me, dont support the cheeziest survivalist Bear. Get a spyderco, Benchmade, sog, emerson, zero tolerance, kershaw.

      Its a very soft steel. Well if its anything like 8cr13mov than it won't hold an edge.long but gets an easy sharp edge. But I assume its even worse than that so ultamitely pretty junk

    • @Colin999999999
      @Colin999999999 10 років тому +2

      CalviNNation
      Yeah 5Cr15Mov steel is way softer than 8Cr13Mov. I bought one of these knives and honestly it didn't hold an edge very well. Then again I'm used to Russel Grohman knives that retail at twice the cost, so maybe it's not a fair review.

    I've never liked the BG knives because of the orange in the color scheme, but I love this one. I really like the fact that you can easily put on a different color paracord and even use some more to make a lanyard. that way you always have enough cord with you. thanks for the awesome review, I'll see if I can get my hands on one of these.

    After watching many survival experts, I subscribed to your channel. Very professional and factual. Was looking for a neck knife/back up blade for my BOB/GTFO/SHTF bag and I bought one of these paracord knives. As you can see, my initials are BG so I can live with the LOGO ha ha ha ha. Seriously, I even bought the Ultimate Pro knife for my Tacoma to accompany my CRKT Chogan Tomahawk. No batoning needed for this blade. I unwrapped the orange paracord (like you) and used it for zipper pulls on my Survival Organizer kit. Good use for that Orange not-so-milspec paracord. I’m keeping this knife for a neck knife and making my own PVC sheath for said daily work. The fasteners on my BG sheath fell apart after I dropped the knife/sheath combination on the shop floor accidentally. New Chicago screws took care of that situation. This is a handy, affordable blade one does not feel guilty beating up on to help out my EDC Kershaw Cryo. Keep up the great work. And thanks so much for all you do!! Means a great deal to an old grunt....

    I bought one of these knives a while back and it really is a solid knife. I was kind of hesitant because of the "novelty" also but I've been pleased with it all around.

    Great review and awesome knife. I got one today and it seems to be really well made, very sharp out of the package and sheath is great. You can also use paracord to tie the sheath to a vest for tactical use.

    Well it looks like Gerbers stepping up their game. Perfect size knife and no serrations. I'll be picking one of these up before Christmas. The Gerber Fiskars thing seems to be working out, I picked up one of the Fiskars X7 hatchets and I love it.

    Hey Good question... I just check and the Compact Fixed does NOT work in the paracord knife sheath. The top part of the fixed blade handle gets in the way of the knife being inserted fully into the sheath.

    The simplicity of the cord installation is perfect for someone that actually would like to use the cord and reload the knife. This is just a simple overlap like tying your shoes. Many other knifes would require someone to spend many hours trying to reload them.

    I like it for throwing at short distances - less than 15 foot. It does quite nice... you just have to tie of the paracord in a way that it does not snag your hand was you release the knife ... if you are doing a no-spin throw... which is the technique I use. Hope this helps!
