Twilight hatched Spike's egg, has been taking care of him since she was a foal, and has raised him like a mother raises her child. Twilight isn't 'practically' Spike's mother, she _is_ Spike's mother
Actually no. It would have been Twilight's parents that raised him. Twilight would have been too busy succeeding at school to raise a child, especially since she was a child herself. Plus you clearly see how she ignored anyone else in favor of her studies while growing up. Then you take into account that it would portray Twilight's parents and Celestia as total monsters for them to have Twilight raise a child when she herself is irresponsible and still growing up.
I figure that when Spike grew up enough to partially take care of himself, that's when they sent him to stay with Twilight. So that when she was in school, Spike could fend for himself. Cause children take a lot of care. And since Twilight would be in school for a big chunk of the day, most of the days of the week..... It would just be irresponsible to have her in charge of a baby. I know it would sound sweet to think she raise him as her child. But in practicality, it doesn't work.
13:08 "Hold on a minute; Christmas _again?_ We just had it!" In case you missed it, it was actually Summer outside. Twi had set up the tree and decorations and RD was making it snow so that Spike could check "Celebrate Hearth's Warming" off his list of things he'd always wanted to do with his dad.
Some people were a bit hard on Spike in this, which is understandable, but as someone who's adopted and considers my adoptive parents to be my parents through-and-through, that doesn't mean that I didn't have thoughts, dreams, and questions about my birth parents. Spike may be mature, but he's still young and like Scootaloo, would naturally be prone to getting tunnel vision about someone new to look up to. I feel bad for him, but the important thing with adoption, is being chosen to be a family and Spike truly was chosen by Twilight, their friends, Celestia, and everyone else which is awfully special.
I think spike already qualifies as a teenager, having gone through dragon puberty and all. But I think you missed that the hearthswarming in this episode was just pretend.
Honestly, Garble should be more concerned about his actions towards Spike. Spike is Twilight's son, not only because she hatched him, but part of her clearly went into him, what with him being the only Dragon with magic fire breath. That means Spike is royally. Pony royalty, sure, but royalty all the same.
6:59 Rainbow Dash: "You're not the first stubborn dragon we've met, y'know?" No, that would be the one that she kicked in the face and immediately regretted it.
Ive always been concerned if Spike was cared for properly being raised by ponies that know nothing about dragons. And there is plenty of evidence that Spike is older then Smolder to prove that his growth was stunted
It’s my head-canon that with Sludge did, (lying to a dragon child about being there parent so they can take it vantage and basically steal from them.) is a major taboo in dragon culture. Even Garble wouldn’t try that. May former dragon lord Torch eat him like a piece of popcorn chicken.
Oh, you think Twilight's broken heart animation was unnecessary? I can't wait until your reaction to the Christmas special. There's an inconsequential bit in the opening that they totally didn't need to animate and it gets everyone.
Alright, I'm finally back after a long hiatus (for various reasons). I missed many episode reactions, and most have been taken down it seems so that sucks, but it's time to get back to leaving my traditional dumb comments... "You sir, are a disgrace to the good name that is Sludge!" ... Nailed it.
7:48 rehabilitation. Plus, it bonuses are free labor 😉 12:01 now, while most of us easily figured put Sludge's story is bull, the characters don't know that... so those Last questions from Fluttershy and Dash are actually pretty heartless. Good ones, but still heartless. "Hey, even though you'd been imprisoned for years, explain what happened to the wife you searched desperately for in such a dangerous place and how the baby you had to give up to save its life ended up somewhere else after you were imprisoned, even though your being imprisoned means you never could've seen what happened to your baby or likely your wife". When you think about it, that's kinda callous of Dash, even for her and especially for Fluttershy. 18:02 yeah. Who set the camera to Prostate Exam 🤮😖 18:33 I seriously wanna know what Twilight was talking about using the map for. Come on! It has to be important. Seriously, whatever Twilight was talking about relating to the map NEVER gets brought up again. Not even during the finale. And don't worry about Sludge. I've a fic where Screwball is the main character and let's just say she won't let him get off as scott free as the episode suggests when he leaves
Finally time to continue watching...n.n I'm not a huge fan of this one, but I really love the interaction between Twi and Spike (though that part with Spike and Twi where Twi's heart broke... it was pretty hard 'cause that relationship is the best or rather one of the best), and also Spike and Smolder
Actually I had a reason to hate this episode... this actually happened to me in real life for the past 15 years of my life, my dad left Michigan for drugs.. and I only just met him last summer back in 2018 it was great and all but.. it always seemed like both him and my mother put me in the middle like who i loved the most.. which sucked they were messing with my emotions.. and the worst part of it was he always promised to visit me and call me to say hi or to even say goodnight to see how I was doing... but he never did any of that.. and he never even called me on my sweet 16th birthday which was October 2nd last year which was terrible.. and what does he do? he always makes an excuse after excuse. and he's never been my life anymore since then.. you cant force anybody to be in your life what so ever #HeartBrokenChild
@@BronyBurningAxe its fine.. its how life is you cant really force people to be in your life, its cool if they want to be in your life.. but if they don't wanna be you cant force them to be.. he only broke my heart.. and I hope he knows that.. and this episode actually teaches kids with their parents that have not been in their lives is that they cannot force them to be in it if they don't want to be.. its their loss if they don't wanna be.. its a hard lesson though.. a very hard lesson indeed
Not my least favorite episode, but it's close. Sludge is just... The worst. It does have some great moments though. Seeing aj get her comeuppance for trying to use sludge as free labor... That's great.
Narrator007 I meant the fact that I want one to him about the sludge being an ass in this episode besides that I’m way too depressed now to get your joke

That's a good way to put it mate. I couldn't agree more.
you are a lot like me. but I don't think about my birth parents. I am who I am and it doesn't matter who I was. all that matters is who i will be.

Yeah, he was too busy ranting to notice. ;)
2:29 "He's learning how to fly. It's like season four's premiere all over again."
Complete with crashing, embarrassment, and a "big finish".
0:39 Yes! I have been wishing for a zebra episode for ages. Hopefully season 9 doesn't disappoint.
12:36 "You got issues, Spike."
Some of them in mint condition! ;)
Lol
8:00 "Pinkie, why?"
I guess she likes being on top. XD
On the bright side at least Sludge didn't try to kill or maim spike on multiple occasions like Garble.

I was gonna watch some of your season 8 reactions via the playlist, and that's when I found out episodes 19-24 are blocked. 😞
I know I need to fix that...

17:43 i never forget that moment...
12:17 "Maybe I'm prejudging him."
Maybe, but your prejudgement wasn't wrong.
7:25 Taking Angel's pillow, fine. Taking Angel's pillow while he's using it? How sadistic are you Fluttershy???

Wait, what scene are you referring to? It's been about a year since I've seen that special, but I don't remember what you're talking about
Oh wait a second I think I know what you're referring to or you're referring to the weird reindeer Pony narration thing?
this was a okay kind of EP.
