    Interestingly, with the original mouthpiece, it sounded like some sort of English horn/bassoon hybrid

    I have a few, you can really bring them to life with a modern tenor mouthpiece

      I have a 1921 Beuscher C Melody with the original wooden mouthpiece. The left hand palm keys (high D etc...) are really difficult to play...they are stuffy, difficult to get air moving and impossible to play loud. I'm thinking of getting a new tenor mouthpiece with a bigger tip opening to maybe solve this problem. What's your opinion? What tip opening should I try?

    Great video, I love my C melody sax. But I play mostly Alto and do have a 1956 Tenor. My C Melody is from 1918 and I had it completely overhauled a year ago. Plays great.

    I use a bass clarinet reed in original period C-Melody mouthpieces. It's slightly too long but that's at the stock end so it can be left hanging out past the ligature where it won't bother anything.

      What are the differences in the sound or in the emission of the sound brought by the use of a bass clarinet reed?
      Sincerely yours.

      @@j-ylsax7551 when your choices are Tenor or Alto, the fitment of a Bass Clarinet is better than both of those choices. I, however, use the Harry Hartmann Tenor Black Onyx reed. (I use the Black onyx on all my saxes)

    if it had an end cap it would fit in the case better.

    You need the Tenon plug that goes in that hole in the case.

    I play clarinet and go one of these. I had the 1918 sax overhauled. But, how do you do the fingerings. Cause my 2 sax friends and teacher have no ideas. Plus, what reeds do you use? Cause I use a alto reed.

    • @Joeybsmooth
      @Joeybsmooth Рік тому +1

      Besides a few high notes, fingerings should be the same. A sax is sax when it comes to that.

    • @hamjohn8737
      @hamjohn8737 Рік тому +2

      Your fingering from your Clarinet would be almost identical......Flute, Clarinet and Sax all have the same fingering. The C-Mel is a step down though, but if you read music, just play the notes on the page and don't worry about the step down part.
