I got my 718 Spyder manual in GT Silver with red top after watching your review last year. Hands down, the best Porsche investment I've ever owned. Beats my 991 TTS in terms of engagement with half the price, and you get to roll your own stick, while keeping my license.
I absolutely love how Porsche puts the analog clock at the centre of the dash. So cool to see the time when you are driving, saved my marriage to my wife of 50 years. Cheers.
I think Nathan Merz said in a past video that he’d like to do 987 v 981 v 982 (aka, 718), and we totally agree. We don’t have it planned yet, but perhaps that one should come sooner than later. Thanks for the feedback!
Love my 981 GTS. It is so connected to the road and fun to drive at any speed. The 993 is a great car but I’ll take my more tossable and comfortable GTS.
Scott, thanks for that insight. I’m VERY, VERY, VERY curious to know more about your choice. I’m the happy owner of a 993, one which makes me smile every time I drive it, yet I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t annoyed by the small imperfections of owning an old car. At the same time, as an ex-Honda-S2000 owner, I’ve always fantasized about owning a Spyder, to the point of almost pulling the plug on a 981 series last year. Are you still convinced about your decision? I see you had a GTS rather than a Spyder, but still I’d like to know more…
Vu, I’ve seen your pic in the PCA newsletter, nice job. I’m currently number 2 on the list for a GTS manual. Trading my 992, too large for me, didn’t bond with it like my 981.
I have the carbon bucket seats in my 981 GT4 and getting in and out of them drops the daily driver score in my opinion. But they sure work great with on the track (with a 6 point harness)
I wonder PCA, that You should take into consideration for a "Daily drive" score also a city, downtown or city traffic usage. Because I suppose that if You are driving a car through the villages and forest's roads the daily driving seems to be much pleasurable rather than in high city with tall curbs etc. 😉
@@PorscheClubofAmerica Your welcome 🙂 You have such a beautiful roads in the Maryland that I feel this Porsche positive ride vibes even from the screen :) I dream about the same in my country. Thanks for your film works and greetings from Poland 😉
Good luck getting one at MRSP in the USA. And in Canada the pre-owned market is well over MRSP. Great car. I don’t foresee parting with mine. NASP mid engine manual drop top -a unicorn in today’s market. I hope you can snag one for your retirement.
The 718 is very nice, but I much prefer the look and sound of the 981 Spyder over this one. In fact, I predict in the future the 981 will be more sought after than the 718.
I prefer the more hunkered down look of the 718 version of the Spyder versus the 981, not too mention the far superior handling difference of the 718 Spyder with its GT4 suspension
@@PorscheClubofAmerica So youre often intentionally wrong. Alcantara, like Race Tex are company registered names of microfiber material. Porsche only uses Race Tex and does not use Alcantara. You should concentrate on being accurate and not on being indifferent.

Love it!
Yes agree best Porsche at the moment, great review. OMG the Porsche 718 Spyder, 4 liter 450 hp, manual, Speedster looks it looks insane.
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
So I was #2 on the list for a GTS as mentioned prior but I picked up a super low mileage 2021 Spyder and I LOVE it, best Porsche I’ve ever owned!
Congratulations!
@@PorscheClubofAmerica Thank you, fantastic car and a keeper!
Love the look. Wish it would have had the yellow seat belts and gauges. Thanks for showing and the drive
When can we expect to see the video on 987 vs 981 vs 718 that was promised. I’m looking forward to that one.
I can even make one. Have access to all these cars. 987.1 Boxster S 3.4L, 981 Boxster S 3.4L, 718 Cayman 2.0L. All autobox.
I was referencing this one ua-cam.com/video/IlrrM_n_nHk/v-deo.html

@@borinvlogs I think he was referring to Spyders in particular!
@@borinvlogs pls you can’t compare to 718 Spyder or GT4
Had a 981 Cayman GTS and sold it for a 993, gotta say I don’t miss it. Driving the 993 is an occasion, while the 981 was like any other modern car.

Very nice spec on the 718 Spyder.
Another GREAT video!
Thank you. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Why no love for the Cayman GTS 4.0L? Not all of us Porsche enthusiasts live in sunny CA, TX, or FL.
We’ll get there! Thanks for your feedback

Is that Virginia?
We film in Maryland.
My favorite Porsche too, Vu
Interesting that you comment on how great it sounds several times. It’s literally the only downfall on my Spyder. It leaves a lot to be desired.
I guess our definition of sound differs, and that's ok.
@@PorscheClubofAmerica completely subjective I agree!
Excellent information and review, thank you. Wholly annoying intro music, twice too long, twice too loud, no thank you,

What’s the MSRP? A guy is retiring soon and needs a fun car for the wife and I.
Starts at $103,400

There isnt a bit of Alcantara on that entire car…. On ANY Porsche car for that matter. As PCA president you should know that!
We often us Alcantara interchangeably when referring to suede like material in Porsches. The current brand is Race Tex, an ultrasuede.
