      Godzilla 2014 was a great movie and very reminiscent of the original, very first Godzilla movie. KoM was a great monster movie, though. What is shocking is how well Godzilla 1998 did, as it was truly horrible. But there was a HUGE cross marketing promotion and it was during various Jurassic Park sequels and such (as is obvious by the whole "baby Godzilla"/basically velociraptor sequence in the 1998 movie).

    • @jackvac1918
      @jackvac1918 5 років тому +1

      @@KYCCCGuy The 1998 Godzilla movie wasn't horrible. As a movie about Godzilla it's terrible, but as a monster movie on its own, while it isn't good, it's actually not that bad either. Just think of it as a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.

As more and more people all over the world spend more of their time online, the internet is ceasing to be a bubble where only certain people express their opinions. Some sites are less frequented than others, but as more and more people spend use the internet, the numbers that visit and use even these sites is increasing.

The MCU is easily the strongest franchise at the box office right now, but Avatar 2 is coming out in December 2021 and is going to need a strong marketing campaign. I think that if Endgame doesn't pass Avatar, they're just going to look at it as a blessing in disguise, so they can market Avatar 2 as the sequel to the highest grossing film of all time.

    Godzilla 2 is kicking ass in foreign market. It made 130 million in it's first weekend. More than one and a half times more of Skull Island. And Kong made 400 million in foreign market. I think King Of The Monsters will surpass 600 million worldwide. Even though it's domestic box office will be around 130-150 million. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is one of the best films I've seen in 2019. A much better entertaining and better film Godzilla 2014 which I really like. But to me Godzilla: King of the Monsters was a true Godzilla film than Godzilla 2014. While it sucks that it's not making more money than Godzilla 2014 and Kong: Skull Island, but I'm glad I'm getting Godzilla vs. Kong next year in March. The MonsterVerse is such an underrated shared universe and they could a lot of cool things in the universe. I hope Godzilla vs. Kong becomes an successful film. If not well I'm okay not getting more big budget American Godzilla films after Godzilla vs. Kong, because I can live with just four MonsterVerse films; Godzilla 2014, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong. And besides it's not the end of the world because there will always be more Godzilla projects in Japan. As long as Japan still makes new Godzilla projects than I'm all.

    I blame AMC, none of the AMC's around me were showing it in Dolby. They had rocketman in there for some reason

    • @bobbysmith3445

      The ones around me alternated Rocketman and Godzilla on the Dolby Screen throughout the day.

      Bobby Smith I wish any of the 3 by me did the same. They didn’t even give us the 10pm showing which they did when brightburn came out. For me if it’s a big movie, I have got to see it in Dolby. But I guess some people got lucky with their amcs

    • @nobodynoone3428

      I liked the first one. They should have just put more effort into the story and characters. Then reviews would have been better. More monsters is great, but not if everything else is worse.

    • @Predatorwarrior18
      @Predatorwarrior18 5 років тому

      Nobody No One They didn’t focus more on the human characters because the main complaint people had of the last one was that it focused too much on the human characters and not enough of the big guy himself. When you do a Godzilla movie you make the human plot on a scale of semi interesting to very interesting but you always have to make it where the main focus is Godzilla because that’s who the audience came to see. If this involved a mech kaiju with pilots or alien invaders trying to take over the world then you would have to put a little more effort than usual into the human plot otherwise your good with what you have.

    • @nobodynoone3428
      @nobodynoone3428 5 років тому

      @@Predatorwarrior18 Making Godzilla the focus is fine, but don't neglect everything else when it's a major part of the movie. Only trying to please fans will likely limit the box office and potentially end a franchise.

    • @Predatorwarrior18
      @Predatorwarrior18 5 років тому

      Nobody No One There’s hardly any danger of Big G’s franchise ending since Toho plans on creating more movies with him along with Legendary. You do have a point though on trying to aim beyond just the target audience however if you don’t even have said audience into the film you’ve given then the franchise really is in danger of ending. It’s not just money that keeps a franchise going it’s the fans as well.

    People seem to be down on Godzilla box office numbers. It won the weekend and that is all that matters.
    It is a foreign entity so I would emphasize on the foreign box office more so with the domestic box office being the cherry on the icing.

      1. Studio earn most money from domestic BO
      2. This movie flopped everywhere except 2 countries
      3. It doing OK in China, but studio takes only like 25-30%
      4. It doing OK in Japan. For this movie all money goes to rights owner, no to studio.
